Anne Rice Honored by Stevie Nicks for "New Orleans" song mention...

"I just got my first letter from a person who says he is trying my work thanks to the new Stevie Nicks song. I must say, I'm honored by Stevie Nicks' mention of me in that song. And hearing it makes me so homesick for New Orleans. So home sick for the oaks of uptown and the twilight sky over the Garden District, and the breeze off the river."

  1. Definitely my favorite line in the song. "I want to pass by Anne Rice. Go down Bourban Street". Love it! -Mark

  3. Being a writer, I love that Stevie mentioned Anne Rice in this song. Of course, I also love "Annabel Lee" from a writer's aspect too. How cool that Anne Rice has listened to Stevie's new music - and that she likes the song! :)

  4. I really like New Orleans. I can't believe that some people from New Orleans don't like the song. It's only becuase they want attention. I mean if your stupid enough to live in a city that is below sea level, your opinion shouldn't matter. I have no clue why they are even rebuilding that city. A disaster is just going to happen again. Still, I love the song. It makes me even want to go there.

  5. to "the Wildheart" -- you have quite a nerve speaking of New Orleanians in such a light. Yes, the city is below sea level, but we are NOT stupid....no more stupid than those who live on an earthquake fault line (you people in Los Angeles, San Fran, Japan, et al,or in flood plains (your midwesterners) or people who live in tornado ally (again, you midwesterners). but i am not mean and ugly like you, so I don't judge those people. If someone does not like a song, don't judge the people who live in the city the song is named for. If someone does not like the song, what the hell does it have to do with wanting attention....they just don't like the song. Oh, and in your 4th sentence, it is "you're" not "your." So maybe you are stupid too. Your comments are so juvenile. Why would someone say they don't like a song for attention. And why the hell do you want to come here or even as you say, "like New Orleans." You don't even want to see it rebuilt. Our city has great history, architecture, charm and romance. That is why our city is rebuilt and continues rebuilding. And we are home to Super Bowl Champs! We are very proud. BTW, when our disaster comes, i.e., hurricanes, at least we have a chance to get out except for those poor inner city people who had no finances to get out and no place to go. Please do us a favor; don't come visit us! Stevie, on the other hand, is quite welcome to come and sing her fabulous song to us that brings tears to my eyes. Where the hell are you from anyway so i can find some criticism and insults for your hometown. Do you maybe want attention cos Stevie did not write a song for your city????? Born and raised in New Orleans and proud of it!!!

  6. yes, agreed. and may I add that 'the wildheart's' comment -- if you are stupid enough to live in a city below sea level, your opinion shouldn't count --- well, I do not believe that people who live below sea level have been proven to actually have water on the brain! What a numb-nut. I love the song too.

  7. hmmmmm....so the wildheart did not like my New Orleans "positive" comments? And someone who followed me? Was it deleted??? If YOU don't want to live below sea level, you don't have to. Stay where you are. Funny my comments commending Stevie for her beautiful N.O. song and taking up for my home town were removed. So are YOU stupid enough to have my comments removed???? THAT is a disaster.

  8. Would Stevie approve of your nasty comments about New Orleans and its people? I wonder. Why don't you send them to her????

  9. Re Comments being Removed: Google/Blogger have been having issues the last couple of days. All posts and comments made after Wednesday of this week were removed by blogger. They were doing a maintenance upgrade and ran into problems. They will be restored once they've worked out their issues.

  10. excuse me, what comments, I'm sure that Stevie would not appreciate someone complaining about New Orleans song just because they want to complain. She doesn't need to write a book about your tragedy. There are a few people who do not like the song because it isn't tragic enough. So what? 99% of the people love it. It's a great song. And it manages to be sad and hopeful at the same time—a great feat. Have fun in New Orleans. If I were I would keep some Scuba gear handy in my home. What a waste of tax payer money!

  11. Well, we hope ALL comments will be restored. The "Stevie New Orleans contingency" is NOT AT ALL happy with "the wildheart" and her very ugly, nasty, "stupid" comments with what we have been thru since Katrina in August 2005. We could use some positive vibes sent our way....and we got them via STEVIE! Thank you SO much, we love you! What is your beef with New Orleans anyway, "wildheart"....is your "EX" from here or something. We would like to see YOUR comments removed as SPAM. Yeah, we'll see if "our" N.O. comments are restored. LONG LIVE NEW ORLEANS, LONG LIVE THE FRENCH QUARTER AND ITS VAMPIRES, LONG LIVE MARDI GRAS, LONG LIVE THE SAINTS, AND LONG LIVE STEVIE!!!! THE WHO DATS AIN'T GOIN' NOWHERE SOON :))))))))

  12. WILDHEART, what comments???? Did you read that you called the people of New Orleans STUPID???? Our OPINION SHOULDN'T MATTER???? You have NO IDEA WHY THEY ARE REBUILDING OUT CITY???? did you read your own comments????????? You are STUPID if you think they are NOT terribly offensive. And WHAT is a waste of tax payer money???? WE PAY TAXES, honey.
