This Adele album is a mother.
The XL/Columbia U.K. pop diva is rolling sevens with 21, which will spend its seventh week at #1 next week, adding what appears to be another 120-150k to its 1.4 million U.S. total, thanks to Mom’s Day Weekend. That’s based on one-day sales reports from those music retailers who have stopped searching for Osama bin Laden.
Next week, the real battle will be for #2 between a pair of Capitol/EMI entries. The Beastie Boys’ long-awaited Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, the sequel to an album that never officially came out, looks to be in the 100-110k range, the same as the next volume of the Now 38 series on the same label.
Indie stalwart Sub Pop’s indie answer to Crosby, Stills and Nash, Fleet Foxes’ Helplessness Blues is looking at an impressive first-week total of 80-90k, which should be good for Top 4.
American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez’s Island/IDJ bow, Love?, looks to be in the 60-65k range, which might be helped by her performance on Thursday night’s edition of the show.
Reprise’s Fleetwood Mac vet Stevie Nicks, currently on tour with Rod Stewart, comes out with In Your Dreams, her first solo album since 2001’s Trouble in Shangri-La, which should do between 40-45k.
Atlantic R&B crooner Musiq Soulchild is back with his sixth studio album, MusiqInTheMagiq, in the range of 30-35k
Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx band, Sixx: A.M., is back with the Eleven Seven album, This Is Gonna Hurt, on target for between 25-30k, the same as Epic’s Sade The Ultimate Collection.
So if Hits predicts correctly and based on this info... Here's how the Top 10 should look:
No.1 Adele - 21 (120-150k)
No.2 The Beastie Boys or Now 38 (100-110k)
No.3 Now 38 or The Beastie Boys (100-110k)
No.4 Fleet Foxes (80-90k)
No.5 Jennifer Lopez (60-65k)

I went to Barnes And Noble to buy it. I walked in and they were playing it throughout the store, but they never recieved the shipment and had none to sell!!

Shangri La opened at #5 with 109,000, not over 200, and yes, the industry sucks, a few weeks ago 19k was almost top 10, it's gross and she is going to have a hard time getting this album gold
Do all the different versions count as one? There are 2 differnt deluxe packages plus the original.
40 to 45 thousand? That is way below what I was hoping for. This makes me sad. So, why are the Beastie boys expected to sell so many when they are not even on Amazon's top 20? Stevie is currently #2 on Amazon.
Well if they had managed to get the damn video for "Secret Love" out in Feb. or March when the single was serviced to radio, DJ's may have actually tried playing it on radio and it would have gotten some airplay, which would have helped jumpstart sales of the CD. But once again, Warner Bros. Records has totally screwed up a Mac/Stevie release.
I'm a HUGE Stevie fan.I actually bought 2 copies of In Your Dreams....waiting since Jan. for this cd and i am terribly disappointed.I long for the classic Stevie sound and this is NOT IT!!! What happened??
Get with it folks, it's not 1983 anymore. Stevie mostly sells to her hardcore fan base. Beastie Boys are rap and have a much stronger, younger fan base than Stevie. I would imagine selling 50-60k in her 1st week is considered fairly successful by today's standards, for an artist who peaked in the 80s (selling wise). Just enjoy the CD and don't worry about the sales.
Trouble is, the CD is not that good. Loved everything Stevie & the Mac have ever released until now. Dave Stewart really failed as her producer. The songs are half baked, no hooks to the songs and even Stevie's lyrics are like fragments of thoughts. I could always tell exactly what she was talking about on every song she wrote. These songs make no sense at all, which is odd since her interviews are very lucid and clear nowadays. I don't know what the hell she is trying to say about New Orleans after Hurrican Katrina, and Soldier's Angel is pretty insipid too, considering it's about visiting wounded sounldiers.

I don't know what people expect from Stevie! In Your Dreams IS classic Stevie! Dave Stewart was a very strong, musical influence! You want pop "hooks" listen to Katy Perri. Stevie is not a "pop chick singer". This may be her very best album ever!
