STEVIE NICKS LIVE in Bethel, NY August 27th Bethel Woods Center for the Arts

Update:  As of just a couple of ours ago, Bethel is still saying the show is on as scheduled.  I'm not in that area so I can't comment on the severity of the storm, so all I'll say is stay safe, make a choice to attend based on your safety not on whether the show will go on or not.  Some of you are travelling from distances that will be under states of emergencies with road's closed.  Take all that into consideration for when the show ends, you will still need to get back to your homes.

Most recently from Bethel:

The safety of our guests, artists and staff is Priority #1. We have been carefully monitoring the weather conditions w/ the public authorities and consulting with the artist management. According to the NWS rain showers are likely after 10pm Saturday. The heavy rain and wind related to Irene is expected early Sunday morning at approximately 2a-5a. The venue, staff and artist is prepared to provide the safest environment for concert-goers this evening. The concert is scheduled to end at 10:35pm.

The Stevie Nicks concert on Saturday, Aug 27 is on as scheduled with an 8pm show time. We are carefully monitoring the weather conditions with local and national agencies and will update as needed. Currently the storm is expected to hit our area around 8am on Sunday morning.

Mystical Songstress, Stevie Nicks, Takes the Stage at Bethel Woods

KKMPR

Bethel, NY (June, 17 2011) – The strong, deceptively versatile voice of Stevie Nicks will resonate through the Catskills on Saturday, August 27 at 8:00 p.m., when the mystical artist takes the stage at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. Building her career with Fleetwood Mac in the Seventies with songs like “Rhiannon” and “Dreams” and in the Eighties with The Other Side of the Mirror, Stevie will take concert-goers on a musical journey through the decades with her one-of-a-kind voice.

Tickets go on sale, Saturday, June 25th at 10:00 a.m. and can be purchased atwww.BethelWoodsCenter.org, the Bethel Woods Box Office, Ticketmaster, or by phone at 1.800.745.3000. Reserved seating starts at $45.00, then $59.50, $75.00, and $135.00. Lawn seating is also available for $25.00 per ticket.

Nicks has recently released her 7th solo album, “In Your Dreams,” which Rob Sheffield of Rolling Stone raves, “Is not just her first album in ten years, it’s her finest collection of songs since the Eighties.”

Born to a frustrated country singer, Nicks began performing at the age of four, and occasionally sang at the tavern owned by her parents. She started writing songs in her mid-teens, and joined her first band, the Changing Times, while attending high school in California.

While currently a solo artist, Nicks is widely known for her role in being a key member of Fleetwood Mac. After their then-guitarist, Bob Welch, quit the band, Fleetwood Mac turned to Lindsey Buckingham to fill the void. Buckingham refused unless Nicks was signed on as well. Fleetwood Mac agreed and the legendary band was created.

Her voice has been described as being “husky, warm, velvety and childlike,” and has been able to set the tone for smooth and mysterious Fleetwood Mac hits such as “Rhiannon” and “Dreams” as well as solo rockers like “Stand Back.”

The counter piece of her latest album, “Annabel Lee,” an Edgar Allan Poe tribute that’s been kicking around on bootlegs since the Nineties, was described by Sheffield, “It might have been written in 1849, but it was clearly meant for Stevie Nicks to sing.”
