Stevie Nicks has explained to us why the next round of Fleetwood Mac activity, which had been expected to take place in 2012, has been pushed back to 2013. She says she wants to continue promoting her current solo album, InYour DreamsI, through next summer, and expects to release more singles and videos from it. "I just want people to see and hear it, so I want to keep this record going until next summer."
Stevie says Lindsey Buckingham, in particular, has been supportive.
"Lindsey knows how important this record is to me, because [he] was a part of [it]. And so he said to me, 'This record is your heart. Don't feel as if you have to run back to Fleetwood Mac, because you don't."
She's also got two movie projects -- both based on old songs -- she wants to "at least get started" next year. One is a movie version of the Welsh folk tale that inspired her to write "Rhiannon," the other an animated film based on a pre-Fleetwood Mac song called "The Ladybug and the Goldfish."

Sorry Dave, It's "The Goldfish and the Ladybug"
ReplyDeleteGo Stevie! She has spent the last 30 plus years dropping everything (forgoing a major tour in support of Bella Donna, being "always on call "(Sweet Girl) and being a loyal soldier for Fleetwood Mac. Lindsey is awesome for being so amazingly supportive. Finally she puts her foot down as Lindsey has done time and time again and says 'I gotta do this for me and my artistic growth'. She looks happy...Sexy as hell, thinner than she's been in years and at the top. Hopefully the bright side of both she and Lindsey feeling confident and artistically satisfied is maybe now we might see a new FM record by 2013 given the fact they will have some down time once Stevie's wrapped up promo on IYD next summer.
ReplyDelete^ Intersting comment above. I am excited at the prospect of a more extensive tour for IYD. But I find it laughable to think that Fleetwood Mac somehow keeps getting "in the way" of Stevie's solo career. Lyndsey, Mick and John spent 18 months working on Say You Will before Stevie found the time to "drop by." And in 87 they spent months working on Tango waiting for her to clear the drugs from her system, only to show up with some of the weakest songs of her career. I'm not attempting to be mean here, but "waiting" has worked both ways where Stevie is concerned.
ReplyDeleteYou really think seriously Fleetwood Mac would still be touring without Stevie Nicks? Lets be honest here, the Mac survived the loss of Christine, but no Stevie?? I don't think so...
ReplyDeleteactually i think it's just plain goldfish and ladybug.
ReplyDeleteI think Fleetwood Mac will work on the a new album and do Stevie's songs later. The Mac cannot go on the road without a album of new material. Lindsey could do more solo dates and maybe they can get Christine back.
ReplyDeleteIf they ever got Chris back I would go to every show. Even tho Stevie is my role model.
ReplyDeleteRize Gold Dust Album****IN YOUR DREAMS***** Stevie & Lindsey will Alway's be THE HEART of the Mac***** Waiting will only Bring More songs & Story's from the Stevie Vault of Poetry..... The SAy Ya will Album took 15 yrs & unbelievable....
ReplyDeleteIt could also be that since Fleetwood Mac toured in 2009, they need to wait another year to ensure selling enough tickets for another arena tour. And seeing Stevie solo again next year is definitely a good thing also. I hope the Mac does record before they tour also, would love some new music from the group. I still believe they have another hit song or two in them. And I for one, would love if Dave Stewart could get them to go to London and record and perhaps get Christine McVie to take part, even if she didn't tour, it would still be better to have her on the recordings.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with the second comment! FM would "NOT" exist without Stevie! I'm SO happy to see Stevie taking the time to make these movies happen, as this is something, IMO, that is overdue! Us fans have been waiting for this and she's now, in the right place to have these gifts for her fans! We LOVE you Stevie and Linds!
ReplyDeleteHOPEFULLY SHE WILL BE PUTTING ON MORE TOUR DATES ON HERE IN THE U.S.!!! MAYBE RE-SCHEDULE THAT BORGATA, ATLANTIC CITY SHOW FINALLY???!!! :)
ReplyDeletePersonally, as a longtime Mac fan and a fan of their collective solo careers, I do not want them to reconvene until they're ready to record. I don't want another "Greatest Hits" tour. Stevie has a solid, amazing album with several more tracks that could make great singles. I also think she should to another round of touring for it starting early next year, perhaps even release an "EP" of songs that were recorded but didn't gel with the record.
ReplyDeleteFLEETWOOD MAC 2013 REUNION ALBUM & BRITISH INVASION WITH CHRISTINE MCVIE????
ReplyDeleteI So LOVE the idea that someone mentioned above ^ of DAVE STEWART arranging for MICK FLEETWOOD, JOHN MCVIE, LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM, & STEVIE NICKS to RECORD A NEW ALBUM IN THE UK WITH CHRISTINE MCVIE; after all, the real reason Christine is no longer touring with the band is due to her overwhelming 'FEAR OF FLYING' (Hmm, potential new song/album title?). They could even do UK PROMOTIONS & APPEARANCES TOGETHER and perhaps even several HUGE SELL-OUT UK REUNION CONCERTS, followed by some type of a Reunion Concert DVD/Documentary. What better place for the Mac to do this than where the band originally started... With all the British publicity that could potentially be generated by a COMEBACK UK MAC ATTACK, we would certainly be seeing and hearing all about it over here in the US for a very, very long time. Additionally, with all the high tech capabilities we have these days, Christine McVie could very easily once again become a solid ‘Link In The Chain’ that is Fleetwood Mac without ever leaving the comforts of her English Castle. What do you say, Christine??? One Last TANGO, One Last DANCE???? ...It's Time for the Planets to Align.
^ I agree that any FM project with Christine would be great. I wish that 2012 would include the often discussed Buckingham Nicks reissue and some shows to go with it. That would be worth putting FM on hold.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous has brilliant career ideas for the band, which they would be very wise to consider. Christine re-joining the band would be miraculous for fans - just as it was when they reconvened for THE DANCE and started the phase that's lasted until now. Lindsey and Stevie's accomplishments this year speak for themselves. They are now officially in the "Great Masters" zone. At the very least, I want the next Fleetwood Mac hit to be called "Come Back, Christine" - take it away...with or without her....
ReplyDeleteNo explanation needed, Stevie! We support everything you do!:)
ReplyDeleteChristine's final album had only sold exactly 19,944 copies three years after its release. Those are Soundscan numbers and therefore not open to debate. Lindsey's new CD will be lucky to top 20,000, and less than his previous efforts, but not by much. Christine and Lindsey do have a Gold album between. Street Angel sold more than any of Christine or Lindsey's solo records. At her worst, Stevie has greater appeal to the general public than Christine or Lindsey. Just the way it is. It's why Stevie gets 40% of the FM's performance fee.
ReplyDeleteStevie is the draw.
Whoever wrote the above comment that Stevie receives 40% of Fleetwood Mac's performance fees is mistaken. Each of the 4 remaining band members are paid equally for live performing and Lindsey, Christine and Stevie are paid royalty fees for the number of songs that they each wrote that are performed in concert.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think everyone already knows that Stevie's solo records have always outsold Lindsey's and Christine's. There is no need to insult either of them though. All three of them make wonderful music, but nothing equals the combined talents that make up Fleetwood Mac. And it would still be ideal if they could record new music with Christine, as her cool, upbeat love songs add so much to a Mac record. Matching Stevie's moody, intense songs and Lindsey's urgent, boyish songs. And Chris' keyboard playing and most importanly; her singing add the magical touch that made the Mac what they are.
Stevie has been my favorite artist since her Wild Heart album came out when I was 15 yrs old. Once I knew that album by heart I went out to get Bella Donna, Mirage, Rumours, and anything I could find that she sang on. I would sit and wait for Stand Back, If Anyone Falls, Gypsy and any other videos to appear on MTV. I wanted to be just like her. With that said, Fleetwood Mac has it's own magic that I have come to appreciate over the years. Lindsey, Christine, Mick and John all add to that magic. I would love to see all of them in concert again. Including Christine. Say You Will was an awesome album! IYD and SWS are also masterpieces! Seeing Stevie live again at the Grove was soooo magical. Her voice sounds so awsome live. Hope she comes around again!!
ReplyDeleteChristine's "In the Meantime" was not promoted at all. Stevie tours for every one of her albums. Christine's top 40 hits with the Mac outnumber Stevie's and Lindsey's combined. Also, C McVie only released one other solo album in her Mac years and it was succesful.
