First of all.. The audio on these videos is amazing and its nice to see a crisp steady visual to go along with it. Nothing replaces being there live... But it's the next best thing.

Lindsey Buckingham: Driving musical force behind real-life soap opera that was Fleetwood Mac

The best rock picks
Given the circumstances of his defining era – as driving musical force behind the real-life soap opera that was Fleetwood Mac in the mid-1970s – you might not expect Lindsey Buckingham to age well. And yet he has. Now 62, he has maintained an idiosyncratic pop sense and guitar style still capable of surprises, as shown by the elegantly atmospheric trance-pop on last year’s “Seeds We Sow.” Thursday brings him to the homey confines of the 355-seat Carrboro ArtsCenter, an unusual opportunity to see a performer of his stature in a small venue. Showtime is 8:30 p.m. and tickets are $46-$54; or (gulp) $250, which includes a post-show meet-and-greet with Buckingham. See artscenterlive.org for details.

Buckingham plays Capitol Theatre
Fleetwood Mac’s veteran guitarist is touring in support of ‘Seeds We Sow’

CLEARWATER – Touring in support of his sixth solo album, Lindsey Buckingham takes the stage Monday, Aug. 6, 8 p.m., at Capitol Theatre, 405 Cleveland St. Tickets start at $59. Call 791-7400.  The legendary guitarist, singer/songwriter, Grammy winner, producer and Rock And Roll Hall of Fame member released “Seeds We Sow” in September 2011.

Lindsey Buckingham Live in Charlotte, NC Tonight!
It must be a bitch being Fleetwood Mac svengali Lindsey Buckingham. Like his idol and fellow pop perfectionist Brian Wilson, he must live up to his musical legacy. In Buckingham’s case, he domineeringly directed the Mighty Mac to towering commercial and creative success. At the same time, Buckingham must live down his personal legend — the obsessive coke-blown genius and abusive demon lover to Stevie Nick’s gossamer faerie queen. The evidence suggests the two cannot be separated. After all, Buckingham’s fidgety, Peruvian-powdered fingerprints are all over Mac’s diffuse and difficult masterpiece Tusk. The guitarist seems to have accepted this. He’s on board for Mac’s 2013 tour, while solo he’s mellowed and matured, reflecting a man at peace with his place in the pop firmament. True, his simple, emotionally resonant lyrics have grown more opaque and self-consciously poetic, but his inventively arranged pop 'n’ roll and baroque folk still engage while getting under the skin. It’s the mark of a master that he makes it all look easy.

Review: Stevie Nicks, 64, wasn't as physical as Rod Stewart, but her voice was much finer - Milwaukee

Veteran rockers Stewart, Nicks each have strengths
By Piet Levy of the Journal Sentinel

Seeing Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks singing together has arguably been one of the stronger selling points of the accomplished veterans' joint 2-year-old Heart and Soul Tour, which made a stop at the BMO Harris Bradley Center on Monday.

But as has been the case on recent dates, the duets didn't happen.

Perhaps their hearts and souls weren't in it. And perhaps it was for the best, given the bad reviews their joint performances have received.

So instead of Stewart warbling his way through "Leather and Lace," Nicks brought out vocal coach Steve Real. Like most of the evening, the performance was affectionate and comforting.

REVIEW: Stevie Nicks' more subdued style was countered by Rod Stewart's always-animated performance

There's no question that Stevie Nicks and Rod Stewart are legends in the music industry. One was a founding member of Fleetwood Mac, and was once called "The Reigning Queen of Rock and Roll" by Rolling Stone Magazine- not an accolade to be taken lightly. The other is one of the best-selling musicians of all time, both domestically and in the U.K., where he's spawned an obscene 31 Top Ten singles.

It's also pretty obvious that the masses understand what it is to have two Rock and Roll Hall of Famers touring together. Consol Energy Center was decidedly packed on Saturday night, from the folding chairs on the floor space far up into the nosebleeds. And despite what was likely a higher average age than most concerts at Consol, many came out in full dedication, sporting Stevie Nicks outfits or Rod Stewart hairdos.

LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM LIVE
SPARTANBURG, SC - JULY 29, 2012

All I can say is WOW! Spartanburg clearly has it going on in the photography department!... Check out the photos below of Lindsey tonight in Spartanburg at Memorial Auditorium. Some pretty amazing shots by Ken Toney, Edward Overstreet and GoUpstates John Byrum. All three captured Lindsey beautifully tonight.  My favorite would be this first one by Ken Toney from Lindsey's left.  To me it's just so life-like!

Thank you Mr. Toney for allowing me to use your photos.  To see more of Ken Toney's work, check out his website and also check him out among other photographers at the Spartanburg Photo Guild.

Lindsey Buckingham wows enthusiastic crowd in Spartanburg
Reviewed by: Dan Armonaitis

Lindsey Buckingham can sure pick a mean guitar.

The legendary musician, best known for his role in Fleetwood Mac, made that clear with an electrifying solo performance that wowed a small but enthusiastic crowd Sunday at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium.

So impressive was the manner in which Buckingham moved his fingers that when an audience member loudly proclaimed, "You're the greatest guitarist in the world," it didn't seem that far-fetched a statement.

Buckingham smiled sheepishly when given the compliment but said not a word, instead going right back to work on his musical instrument.

Of course, Buckingham's talents aren't limited to his instrumental prowess; he's also a gifted singer-songwriter with a knack for producing well-crafted pop songs that are loaded with introspective lyrics and memorable hooks.

For about 75 minutes on Sunday, Buckingham performed an assortment of material from his solo career as well as a few audience-pleasing Fleetwood Mac classics.

The show started on a musically pensive note with Buckingham performing "Cast Away Dreams," from his 2006 solo album, "Under the Skin," followed by Fleetwood Mac's "Bleed to Love Her."

Then, after bowing his head in appreciation for the applause he was receiving, Buckingham spoke directly to the crowd for the first time during the evening.

"I always love coming around to this part of the country," Buckingham said. He then elaborated by noting that when he and his then-girlfriend, Stevie Nicks, were struggling in their pre-Fleetwood Mac days, the South was among the first places to show appreciation for their music.

"You guys got it and we've always loved you for it," said Buckingham, a California native.

Throughout the evening, Buckingham made sporadic references to the "big machine" that is Fleetwood Mac and the "small machine" that is his solo career. He talked about how each reinforces the other and helps him grow as an artist.

John Byrum managed to capture 88 great shots of Lindsey.

Stevie Nicks | Lindsey Buckingham - Pittsburgh & Atlanta Recap

Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks Live in Pittsburgh
Consol Energy Center - July 28, 2012

Stevie's truly turning into Bob Dylan! Bob Dylan never plays the same setlist night after night and again Stevie surprises and changes the set again last night in Pittsburgh. Crowd pleaser "Leather and Lace" with her vocal coach Steve Real was back in the set replacing "For What It's Worth". I think it's great that Leather and Lace is back but it's sad that it had to replace "For What It's Worth"! She sounds so great on that one live... With Moonlight, Annabel Lee and For What It's Worth not in the set, that leaves only two from In Your Dreams being played with 5 Solo tunes, 4 Fleetwood Mac and 1 cover.  Given her time frame to perform is short compared to a solo show, I'm sure it's a tough decision to leave tunes out of the set, maybe she could alternate, and keep people guessing... Again, no duets with Rod... I think it's pretty much a given that going forward we won't see Stevie during Rod's set.

Lindsey Buckingham Live in Atlanta
Center Stage Theater - July 28, 2012
REVIEW:

Well, Mr. Buckingham earned a 5/5 last night in Atlanta. The one thing I can do with a guitar is fingerpick it properly with an alternating bass and a melody on top. So naturally I look down on people who fingerpick differently (like LB) or can't fingerpick like that at all (Paul McCartney). Last night, Lindsey used his fingerpicking style to lay out a beautiful, rich tapestry of notes. It was gorgeous. Apparently he was looping a lot and I didn't f-ing catch it (alcohol) so no doubt that helped with the tapestry. I thought he might struggle with his voice. Wrong. His voice was fantastic for the whole ~80 min show. I read a review of a different show in which the crowd was so loud Lindsey had to ignore the dynamics of his song and play and sing everything loudly for the whole show. Last night was totally different. He played and sang so softly at times it was almost like a whisper. The crowd was dead silent. Fantastic. Lindsey played with no band, and used backing tracks for some of the electric numbers, all of which contributed to a very intimate show. Naturally people expect performers to tells stories in shows like that. That part didn't work too well. LB seemed a little nervous and forced telling stories. Fortunately, story-telling was kept to a minimum. Also odd was that the one number that didn't seem to work was Go Your Own Way. LB's mistake was playing it right after the epic power-ballad I'm So Afraid. The show gets five stars anyway. So in case it isn't obvious, don't miss Lindsey Buckingham.

Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham Shuffle Setlist + Photos >> Videos and Observations

STEVIE NICKS LIVE IN WASHINGTON, DC
Verizon Center - July 27, 2012
Last night in Washington, Stevie performed the same set she performed in Nashville on the 24th... Moonlight and Annabel Lee are still out of the set and Stand Back moved ahead of Soldiers Angel.  She's sounding really loud and strong and seems to have gotten over whatever issues she was having with her throat.  No duets were performed with Rod again last night.  He didn't introduce her set either which was something he started last year, continued at the beginning of this jaunt, but seems to have stopped doing as well...  The mini photos below are by ML Layton via Getty.  Rod and Stevie continue on in Pittsburgh, PA tonight.

LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM LIVE IN FRANKLIN, TN
The Franklin Theater - July 27, 2012
Seems to be a little setlist change (or addition) for Mr. Buckingham as well.  Last night in Franklin, TN - two shows into this leg of the tour, he pulls out Rock Away Blind!  Well that didn't take long!!  Seems to be a fan favourite wherever he plays and a request he's willing to fulfill... No video/photos or reviews from the sold out show have surfaced yet...

Lindsey met up with Walter Egan after the show... Walter also met up with Stevie too when she played Nashville the other night - along with former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Billy Burnette.  It's kinda trippy seeing all these old friends back together again!

Next up for Lindsey is Atlanta, GA at Center Stage Theatre Tonight.

Lindsey Buckingham Reviewed | Stevie Nicks Silk Screened | Bella Donna Celebrates & Micks Picks

An Evening With Lindsey Buckingham

I have seen Fleetwood Mac from outside an arena, along with 500 other people who couldn't get a ticket for the Rumours tour; inside the same packed arena for the Tusk tour; Stevie Nicks solo in an arena setting; and, last night, Lindsey Buckingham in a smaller, more intimate but still packed venue. I enjoyed them all.

Short but stellar: Lindsey Buckingham's solo concert at Birmingham's Alys Stephens Center
by Mary Colurso

A stellar solo concert. An attentive, appreciative group of listeners filled the majority of seats in the concert hall and gave Buckingham several standing ovations. The choral balcony was blocked with curtains; the venue holds about 1,100 people in that configuration.

A man and his guitar: Lindsey Buckingham comes to Spartanburg

GoUpState.com
By Dan Armonaitis

Even if he weren't responsible for some of Fleetwood Mac's greatest artistic and commercial triumphs, Lindsey Buckingham would demand attention for his instrumental prowess.

He's simply too skilled a guitarist not to be recognized.

Upstate music fans will have the opportunity to get an up-close look at Buckingham's talent when the California native performs Sunday at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium.

As a news release for the intimate one-man show puts it, Buckingham “will showcase his distinctive guitar picking style and instantly recognizable voice in his usual awe-inspiring form.”

Buckingham is expected to perform songs from his recent album “Seeds We Sow,” along with favorites from his previous solo albums and a variety of Fleetwood Mac classics.

“As I've grown as an artist, I've gotten more and more in touch with my center, and that center is voice and guitar,” Buckingham said in the news release. “Over time it has become increasingly vital to express more with less; that is my touchstone now, and the embodiment of that philosophy is what will be largely represented in the new show.

“I've been thinking of doing this kind of tour for a while, and am quite excited to be doing something new, something outside my comfort zone.”

Last year, Rolling Stone magazine named Buckingham to its list of “The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” and stated that during Fleetwood Mac's hit-making era, he “transmuted the folk music of his banjo-playing youth into stadium rock.”

As a guitarist, Buckingham uses a finger-picking style that could be compared to that of such country and folk icons as Merle Travis and Doc Watson but which has been adapted to fit his pop and rock inclinations.

In an interview with Guitar World Acoustic Magazine several years ago, Buckingham said, “I've always believed that you play to highlight the song, not to highlight the player. The song is all that matters.”

Buckingham's latest solo album, “Seeds We Sow,” contains an eclectic array of original material along with an impressive acoustic cover of a lesser-known 1967 Rolling Stones gem “She Smiled Sweetly.”

The album tends to shine the spotlight on the percussive nature of Buckingham's playing while staying rooted in the kind of intelligent pop that marked such Fleetwood Mac hits as “Go Your Own Way” and “Tusk.”

Buckingham and his then-girlfriend, Stevie Nicks, joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975, helping propel the legendary group into superstardom. Through his association with Fleetwood Mac, Buckingham was inducted into the Roll and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.

In 1973, under the name Buckingham Nicks, the aforementioned couple released a critically acclaimed but commercially unsuccessful album that is long out of print and highly coveted by pop fans.

Rod Stewart And Stevie Nicks Turn Back The Clock In Nashville
By Evan Schlansky

Stevie Nicks and Rod Stewart did not duet during their double bill last night, as they’ve done frequently on their joint Heart and Soul tour. Nick’s voice was bothering her, she said, which was probably the reason why (unless they’re sick of each other by now).

Still, they made the perfect pair; Nicks’ classic rock radio-ready sound and hippie ethos combined perfectly with Stewart’s cavalcade of hits, for a night of sheer sing-along goodness and rock and roll bliss.

The second Landslide Video captures the ending
Stevie at the end is pretty emotional.  She was emotional going into the song... Her throat is still giving her some issues and she's likely relieved she made it through the show + she received a really warm response from Nashville... Stevie mentions Bob Welch's passing at the end of her Thank You's.

Fleetwood Mac: magic you just can't cover

Most of the artists on a new Fleetwood Mac tribute compilation are a million miles away from capturing the band's pure emotion.
Mac and cheese … Our verdict on tribute album Just Tell Me That You Want Me.

The Guardian UK
by Priya Elan

"At the heart of Fleetwood Mac were three astounding songwriters and vocalists who were steeped in blues and folk traditions. Attempts to recreate this magic tend to get lost among the rhetoric of its retelling. Inevitably, the sonic and emotional distance between the cover and original is massive."

"These covers show that many mistake the Mac's bloody-heart-on-sleeve honesty for slick Californian pop.  May I suggest investing in a copy of Tusk instead?"

A bunch of things happened/changed at the Cincinnati show last Saturday, July 21st when Stevie appeared with Rod at Riverbend Music Center.

1. She wore shade.
2. She hauled out the frilly dress, which we haven't seen this tour.
3. She didn't perform the usual two songs with Rod during his set.
4. She added Enchanted back in the set and Moonlight was dropped.

Photographer Craig Weiglein was at the show... He took these snappy pics.  Check out his gallery on the Riverbend Music Center Facebook Page.

The two artists' shared love of off-kilter distortion come together nicely to turn one of Fleetwood Mac's dreamier songs into something entirely new."
