STEVIE NICKS & ROD STEWART
Riverbend Music Center
Cincinnati, Ohio
July 21, 2012
A bunch of things happened/changed at the Cincinnati show last Saturday, July 21st when Stevie appeared with Rod at Riverbend Music Center.
1. She wore shade.
2. She hauled out the frilly dress, which we haven't seen this tour.
3. She didn't perform the usual two songs with Rod during his set.
4. She added Enchanted back in the set and Moonlight was dropped.
Photographer Craig Weiglein was at the show... He took these snappy pics. Check out his gallery on the Riverbend Music Center Facebook Page.
Say what? No Moonlight, sigh.
ReplyDeleteMoonlight is one of my favorite songs, the best one on the new cd!! Too Bad!!
ReplyDeleteCutting "Moonlight?" WHY? UUGH
ReplyDeletehmm. so she's mixing it up, maybe one night 'enchanted' and the next time 'moonlight'
ReplyDeleteso.... is there drama? wouldn't sing with rod in his set! will she be back? was she pithed about the 'leather and lace' indifference. did she realize finally 'young turks' is a stupid song? is rod still introducing her before she comes out? That IS a gentlemanly gesture, NO star has ever come to the stage to introduce his, uh, co-headliner. It's nice of him. Not so nice about 'L&L'-- my guess is Stevie wore the shades bc she didn't feel well and it showed in her eyes, tired, maybe, allergies, flu-- which also may be why she didnt sing w Rod. But if he stops introducing her, then i'd say their professional pairing has perhaps hit a snag.
They're rehearsing 'Italian Summer' to do in rod's set. and i have a bridge i want to sell you..
Here's what she said! For one the sun was still beaming bright when Stevie took to the stage. She wore her shades only for the first few songs. During her hellos she mentioned that she usually stays the night in Cincinnati, but there was something that she had to do on Sunday and could not tells us what that something was. Yes her set was abbreviated but still the show was great! Trust me, Riverbend was packed to the gills and everyone was stoked to see both Stevie and Rod. Rod made the best of his set and except for us crazy Stevie fans no one was the wiser. I'm thinking she grabbed her ribbons and her bows and was out of there right after her 90 minute set. I for one was grateful to see her at all! Rock on Gold Dust Women!!!
ReplyDeleteYes I hate the sunglasses on stage, but it was still daylight when she performed. And I really hate that she is back to that horrible petticoat skirt that makes her ass look huge. She had been wearing her classic hankerchief hemline one, which looks so much better. Why on earth she went back to this mess is beyond me. And why she put "Enchanted" back in is a mystery also. She should loose "Rock & Roll" and do one of her own hits she never does like "Talk To Me", "I Can't Wait" or "Rooms On Fire". And I think after singing "Leather & Lace" with her vocal coach, who sings it great, she shouldn't bother singing it with Rod. For some reason he can't sing it in the right key and it ruins the chorus's totally. This whole tour with Rod is such a mistake. She must only be doing it for the money.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she is pissed because in an interview Rod said she was his opening act and that she is not technically a good singer.
ReplyDeleteshe is always awesome! The frilly dress has always been her line of clothing. Her clothes are custom made. Just a little disappointed that her & Rod didn't sing together, but things come up & things happen sometimes beyond her control. The sunglasses, hell you have to keep the sun out of your eyes somehow! GEEZ!
ReplyDeleteWow! So much fuss! The sunglasses is easy. It was broad daylight when Stevie took the stage and the sun was in her eyes.bad for her. Good for the audience. And my buddy works security for the venue. He said she left right after her show was over. Probably had to catch a plane. I'm not a mega fan and I saw the show for free, but I thought she did kickass job! Rob
ReplyDeleteSo I find it interesting to note that Stevie dropping a song out of her set list rates a headline, but no mention that Roddy boy dropped a couple tunes as well... Interesting...just interesting...
ReplyDeleteLast night in Nashville, she cried before Landslide admitting her voice wasn't in good shape. I think that has a lot to do with these preemptive choices in Nattie. Though the no duet thing is probably b/c rob SUCKED opening night.
ReplyDeleteWhile it was sweet he intro'd her, his refusal to rehearse L&L and consequently BLOWING it--even tho it's just ONE SONG--is kinda disrespectful to Stevie. Same goes for any songwriters whose song he so obviously messes up. This isn't the London punk scene Rob. It's like he doesn't care if he butchers it. And how hard is it to learn the words?! It's a disservice Stevie. I get the lazy vibe from him and i guess his pathetic work ethic might be excused by his age but whatever.
I must educate a few of you about the contract rules of working with someone IN the Illuminati and someone working WITH the Illuminati. Stevie is clean and clear of this organization, but Rod ISN'T. The sunglasses represent a symbolic SHIELD of separation between the two. Remember the Buddy Holly tribute? There you go. Ellen Dark-Cabal Degeneres did this her way using the shield to "protect" herself from Stevie's "germs". Say what you will, but a little homework and you'll begin to see some patterns...
ReplyDeleteI just figured she wore the sunglasses when she had to read the words off the telepromter thing so people wouldn't see her look down. Yes the sun thing too but indoors why the need. The photos of her singing the Rose, Buddy Holly, makes sense to me! What do you mean Illuminati???
ReplyDeleteWhat? Please explain this entertainment "Illuminati" connection. What's the deal? What did Ellen Degeneres do?
ReplyDeleteLOL! The Illuminati is a paranoid theory. LOL. Wow
ReplyDeleteI think Rod shoud cut a few songs from his set, give Stevie time to do a few more songs. That would be the Gentle Manly thing to do! Especially since he will not take the time to learn Leather an Lace.
