  1. Just caught the CBS broadcast and my God, she's never looked more healthy and gorgeous!

  2. Gayle King is a horrible interviewer. She keeps interrupting Stevie and says very tacky things to her.

  3. I agree, the questions were horrible, old, almost antagonistic, Stevie looked kind of taken aback I thought at what she asked her. She was pretty wretched and Stevie handled it with alot of grace and style. Gayle was tacky indeed, I think I'll have to head over to cbs and see if there is a comment page for that interview.

  4. Stevie continues to amaze. After an incredible concert last night in Boston she is up early for an interview in NYC. Stevie has never been more relaxed or sounded better - rock on Gold Dust Woman!

  5. Yes Lousy Interviewer...
When Asked about Fleetwood Mac, Stevie started to say something about it ..
"Next year, so far. If there's no..."
and was cut off before she could finish it,,,
Can't help thinking Gayle King just cost herself a possible great bit of news there... Like maybe .... if there is no Buckingham/Nicks Tour instead ??
    Sorry Wishful Thinkking

  6. I like Gayle King as a person, but as an interviewer...

If you watched the entire show, she also flubbed the 1975 McDonald's anthem "Twoallbeefpattiesspecialsaucecheese..."

    FAIL.

  7. Gayle King is a pig. She says "boinking" - what an amateurish comment and a way to attempt to rouse Stevie, who never took the bait. Stevie took the high road - even though Gayle kept her ignorant pushing. I ask myself why the disrespectful comments when Stevie could be sharing so much more positivity? Gayle King is gross. I don't know what Oprah sees in her. Oh wait, did I just anonymously out that hack?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Yes. Gayle really blew it. Kept interrupting Stevie and asking questions in such an inappropriate way.....when Gayle said the word "boinking", my jaw just dropped. How old is Gayle, 16? She did not give Stevie the respect she deserved. But of course Stevie handled every single misstep by Gayle with grace and class. I love that woman!! And my goodness does she look amazing or what?!?!? It's so wonderful to see her this happy and healthy:)

    ReplyDelete
  9. Yes, Gayle was awful. Boinking??? And she would not let it go! She could have talked about much more current topics like the new album. Stevie was ever the class act though. Loved the way she talked about her and Christine being the two women of FM - not just her. She just can't help being a class act. And she looks like a million $$$ - especially after a late night. Can't wait til the Borgata show.

  10. Gayle was almost trying to put Stevie down with her comments. Seriously, "cross pollinating" "boinking"?! Stevie had every right to give her a nasty look or snide comment back. But she chose to pretend not to hear those comments and move on. I'm sure Gayle's co-anchor was cringing inside. You can't match up class with classlessness. Gayle, a little more respect to your guests please. Other than that, it was nice to see Stevie. She looks fabulous as usual.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Stevie could have tactfully said..."Gayle, I won't ask about your sex life with Oprah if you don't ask me about mine with the band."

I guarantee you...Stevie would have made headlines around the world. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  12. ^hahaah SO TRUE.

I can't believe this woman qualifies as a jah-whore-nalist on and off. Awful leading questions and absurd language. Gotta love Stevie...She rose above the idiotic BS. All grace and style, like someone mentioned above!

    ReplyDelete
  13. ..."They had a shot of you sorta spinning around in a haze of light"

    Uhhhhhh...........nice one.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I hate that Gayle kept interrupting Stevie and saying really unprofessional things, but I really LOVE that Stevie was herself, and took it in her stride and kept on going.. AND in the end she cut Gayle off with her "Can I just say one thing..". Go Stevie!!

    So beautiful!

    ReplyDelete
  15. GAYLE? ARE YOU READING THIS? Either go back to broadcast journalism school or, just hang it up and crawl under the covers with Oprah.

    ReplyDelete
  16. You can comment over on cbs after clicking on the stevie video, had to set up an acct, took 30 seconds, but it felt good to tell Gaye how horrible she is! :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm surprised and a bit disturbed by the intensity of hatred directed at Gayle King in some of the above comments. Yes it was a mediocre interview, but I think she's likable and capable in general. Stevie weathered the interview with grace like the pro she is.

What is most revealing about a couple of the comments is the obvious (and misplaced) homophobia. The impulse to smear Gayle by inferring that she is, God forbid, a "lesbian", is not only ugly and sleazy, but lazy and unfounded.

    ReplyDelete
  18. It's not homophobia. Stop being politically correct. I'm gay and I'm sure lots of other posters are as well. It's just that everyone knows Oprah and Gayle are a pair of obvious dykes-in-denial and they're irritating because they're such liars about it. If they were open, there would be no scorn. Gayle King is an ignorant woman with no class, period.

  20. Gayle = cow. She was horrible. And I don't care what or where she sleeps in or on. Could not care less. I DO care that she remove herself from the china shop.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Great comments by all!

    ReplyDelete
  22. The classiness continues. Now Gayle is a "dyke" and a "cow".

    ReplyDelete
  23. Stop the video at 3:37 if you want to see the flash reaction of Stevie to the boinking comment. It was only one second literally but it was certainly there. Her eyes say it all. I'm female and we notice these sort of things in eachother. Classy of Stevie to ignore that sophomoric remark and continue on.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Why don't you all calm down! So touchy. Everyone acts as if Stevie is gonna break cause whatshername said "boinking"... Get a grip.

    ReplyDelete
  25. "...Her eyes say it all. I'm female and we notice these sort of things in eachother..."

Most ridiculous comment I've ever heard.

    ReplyDelete
  26. It's not homophobic to insinuate anything about Gayle's sexuality if she herself is willing to ask Stevie about hers. She likened Stevie to a plant when she interrupted with her ignorant mouth fart about cross pollination! Gail reaps what she sows.

    ReplyDelete
  27. It's not that people don't feel Stevie can defend herself - obviously she's tough as nails. It's just that Gayle is such a sleazy mixture of exploitative and sanctimonious (wow - I wonder where she learned that?). Asking Stevie whether she "got the memo" about sleeping with her co-workers, as if Stevie worked at IBM and wasn't part of one of the most brilliant, revered musical outfits of the past 50 years, with all the romance and emotion that that implies. Gayle poses as if she had some sort of moral authority, but in fact she has none. It's just like Oprah scolding fellow-confabulator James Frey about being dishonest in his memoir, while Oprah's own epic lies about herself were exposed by Kitty Kelly. Would love to see Stevie with a really top-notch interviewer like the Dick Cavett of the distant past to see what surprises would pop out....

    ReplyDelete
  28. Gayle could make the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on his cross sound trite.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Gayle's also simply jealous that Stevie's not a sleazebag like herself and Oprah. And so she needs to slant her questions to Stevie in a salacious tone. Yet Stevie shows Gail why Gail can NEVER be Stevie, cause Stevie has class and Gail doesn't. All it takes is a tolerant smile and a thoughtful response. I'm sure Gayle's creaming in her lesbo pants right now, wishing she'd kissed Stevie's butt...

    ReplyDelete
  30. "I'm sure Gayle's creaming in her lesbo pants right now, wishing she'd kissed Stevie's butt...

  31. Anyway, she's a SHITTY interviewer and does not get nor understand who she is sitting with. In short, Gayle is a cow.

  32. The White Winged Pad13 July 2012 at 22:09

Come on, people. It's a shame you all are too blinded by your love of Stevie to see how you're acting. So Gayle King asked Stevie the exact same question she's been asked dozens of times in her career. She touched upon the same subject Stevie herself has touched upon dozens of times in her career. You all are so horrified and shocked at Gayle's use of the word "boinking". Would it have been better had Gayle come out and asked Stevie about all the times she fucked her FM bandmembers? I suppose that would have been different because that's a word we grown-ups use, right?

For all you people to preach about the class you say Stevie herself has so much of you sure don't seem to be exhibiting much if it yourselves. Is all this behavior something you honestly think that Stevie would be proud to see out here in the comment section IN HER NAME? They way you all are acting is worse than anything Gayle King could have ever said to Stevie.

  33. The White Winged Pad... TOUCHE!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Good God, White Winged, don't be such a priss. People are just venting about how crass Gayle is in comparison to how composed Stevie is. Gayle is very smug, glib and disrespectful - and it's so obvious lots of people noticed, that'll all. It would be like interviewing Hillary Clinton and bringing up Monica Lewinsky first thing...as if that little detail about being Secretary of State were incidental....

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think Stevie would have herself a good laugh if she read these comments! I can imagine her in the Green Room with Karen afterward say "What a bitch!" under her breath : )

    ReplyDelete
  36. Thumbs up on Hillary Clinton example above. People are rightfully upset because they cannot tolerate Stevie being attacked in that manner. Let this onslaught be a lesson for future anchors who have the privilege of interviewing Stevie. Either interview with respect or don't do it at all.

"People are just venting about how crass Gayle is in comparison to how composed Stevie is."

No, that's not's what's happening at all. GK wasn't a shining pinnacle of television journalism and people on here are being disgusting and vile. All this nonsense about Gayle and Oprah... FFS! It's an embarrassment that the fans are THAT childish to resort to tabloid chatter.

I'm sick of the ever growing image that SN is some saint anyway. I'm a fan of her music and think she's pretty great, but everyone on here knows her history and the things she's done. A lot of it is quite shocking but she's actually talked about most of it publicly anyway. If you put it out there and rehash the "soap" as many times as she's done, you can't expect much from the press. That is what they feed on after all.

Perhaps Stevie could put more focus on discussing her music rather than Lindsay Buckingham/Mick Fleetwood/Joe Walsh.

As for The White Winged Pad being a "priss"... are you for real? The majority of the commenters on here just about lost their shit 'cause of the word "boinking" ... get a grip.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Um...isn't the reason that we're all here cause we're hardcore Stevie/FM fans who love to analyze every facet of hers/their careers? It's a forum for expression of fandom, nothing else. The "priss" part was about reading other people's comments, acting as if you were above it all, than police the speech of others. We come here to talk Stevie. Nothing else. I go to other places for other things....get real.

It's not difficult to be "above" the comments on this page, and thank god for the few that are. It's about as lowbrow as it gets.

    Get real yourself!

  41. The funny part is, this was a Stevie Nicks interview and yet Gayle kept interrupting her to say something. She barely gave Stevie enough time to get her answers out.Yes Gayle was rude but Stevie can handle her as she proved during the interview. Stevie got where she is today because of her talent. Gayle got where she is today because she's Oprah's friend.

"I think we have a bitchy drag queen among us. Reach for the smelling salts, she just smelled something "lowbrow." LOL"

Oh wow, is that meant to be an insult or something? How original of you given the tone of this thread.

Thanks though, you proved the point some of us were attempting to make without even meaning to. You find something you don't appreciate, like, or understand and throw out an insult in defense. Typical.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got to go shave my back and reapply my eye-shadow with a spatula. Look at me, I'm a "drag queen"!!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think we can all agree to disagree without being nasty. Bottom line: don't mess with Stevie if you don't want any trouble. Her fans will not allow it, no matter if Stevie can "handle" the interviewer's indiscretions or not. She should not have to deal with anyone's lack of good judgement in the first place. That's what people are pissed about. We don't like people messing with her. Sorry! And for the record I don't care about "the things she has done" in the past. Past is past. As if that merits her being treated badly by anyone today. We have all strayed but the important thing is rising above it. Besides, Stevie has more than made up for any errors with what she has given to the world.

    ReplyDelete
  45. The White Winged Pad14 July 2012 at 16:41

Interviewing Hilary Clinton and bringing up Monica Lewinsky first thing. Really? That's your best example?

Gayle King didn't ask Stevie about her having sex with her band mates first up. That was halfway through the interview. When Gayle King asked the question, she did NOT do it in a disrespectful manner in the least. I've heard/seen Stevie go through more uncomfortable interviews back in the day when she was so high/drunk that the interviewer had to literally carry the interview because Stevie couldn't muster a coherent answer. The question being debated here came into this interview much the same way the situation has been addressed by dozens of other interviewers in dozens of other interviews. It's not like Gayle asked Stevie about the famous roadie with the cocaine rumour. She asked her about something that's more well publicized than Monica making Bill a happy man in the Oval Office.

And speaking of that, you bet your bottom dollar if she is interviewed and halfway through the interview things turn to what has happened in her past, I do expect the interviewer to ask Hilary about the Lewinsky affair. That is part of her history whether she likes it or not. Whether her supporters like it or not. Just as all the "boinking" going on in Fleetwood Mac is part of that bands history and Stevie's history whether the members and their die-hard fans like it or not. It's all fair game. At the point in this interview when Stevie was asked that question, they were talking about the band's history and Stevie's part in it. Fair question at a fair time in the interview.

For all of you who insist Stevie was attacked, do you even watch any interviews apart from fluff entertainment interviews? There wasn't a single bit of attack going on there. By anyone. Mountain, meet molehill. Molehill, meet mountain.

"I think Stevie would have herself a good laugh if she read these comments! I can imagine her in the Green Room with Karen afterward say "What a bitch!" under her breath : ) "

Firstly, I don't think Stevie would laugh much at these comments. Some she might find mildly amusing but I don't think she'd find her so-called fans criticizing other fans and a third-party (Gayle King) very amusing in the least. If she's as much of a prude as Lindsey says she is (which surely he's exaggerating there), I don't think she'd like it at all quite frankly.

Second, if she is nothing but class and charm, I definitely don't think she'd be moving gracefully through the green room with Karen muttering "what a bitch" under her breath. I don't believe she did that at all. She walked through that studio with the thought "another typical interview under my belt--on to the next one" in her mind. This is all promotion for her, folks. She's the ultimate show-woman and she knows how things go. She's done this for 40 years and nothing surprises her, catches her off guard or rattles her anymore. As has been said here already, this is all subject matter that Stevie herself has discussed in interviews many times over and has been very candid about. Perhaps too candid at times.

I've been a fan of Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks literally since the beginning. I'm a very big fan of Stevie's solo and have been since Bella Donna. Actually, I prefer her solo over the band as Fleetwood Mac is a joke without Christine. Stevie isn't perfect as a person. She has made mistakes and she will readily admit and discuss those mistakes. Her willingness to discuss the darker times in her life (and, come on, what can be darker than having an affair with Mick Fleetwood??) is what makes her so unique, I think. If her skin was as thin as all of yours, no one would have heard a single thing about that woman with the man's name past the failed Buckingham Nicks record.

    ReplyDelete

"Sorry! And for the record I don't care about "the things she has done" in the past. Past is past. As if that merits her being treated badly by anyone today."

Of course it doesn't merit bad treatment. That's not the point. A few comments above expressed disapproval of the questions asked, when in truth, these questions are as much Stevie's fault as anyone else's.

If she continues to live in the past and be willing to spill her life story right down to the gritty details, she's gonna continue to be asked about it. I don't want to hear the same old questions over and over either, but in the majority of the interviews I've seen in the past years, Stevie herself often goes back to the tried and tested stories of the 1970's rather than staying put in the present and talking up her current projects.

It's unrealistic to expect no mention of her past, but perhaps if she showed a little less openness to talk about it, the press might stop digging in the same ditch.

  47. Can't we all just get along? After all we are in this blog because at the very least we give a minimal damn about Fleetwood Mac or Stevie Nicks. Otherwise why come in here in the first place? Just to argue with hardcore fans? We each have our point of view with regard to this interview. Both have valid points, though I lean on the side that Gayle should have been more conservative in her questioning. Either way, I think we should all kiss and make up. We kind of let our emotions take over and that can bring out the worst in people. Peace.

  53. Another thing Gayle did wrong was not focus on In Your Dreams. Why dredge up addictions and "boinking" (I still cringe when I think of her saying that) Stevie is in her 60's, way beyond all of that and is trying to get this record listened to. That's the most important thing. Gayle should have done her homework a bit better and discussed that. And yes, Stevie is a Saint !! I've seen her several times on this tour and she looks just like an angel. She brings me so much happinesss I can't describe it.

Gail and Oprah would love to invite Stevie to Palms Springs and have Stevie wear filmy, black dresses while Gail and Oprah made really strong bloody Mary's and told Stevie how they always admired her and her staunch heterosexuality. Of course, she can always call Lindsey, who will give her good, if withering, instructions....

She was probably a nervous wreck and said things she would not normally say. You know how it is when you meet someone you admire and stupid things just fly out of your mouth making you cringe with embarrassment inside. Sometimes the nerves take over and the silliest part of you decides to take over. I think we have all been there. I hope that was the case and nothing was done intentionally.

Worth reading every word of it, and it's the voice of reason, in this thread. If Gayle is irritating, fine, think so. The misogynist and hetero-rhetoric spewed against Gayle were also diatribes, by nature of the bigotry, against anyone lesbian or suspected lesbians. And i don't even like Gayle or watch her- didn't know she had a show, but the 'bitch slap her by insulting her sexuality via innuendo' is ignorant. Shameful indulgences of small minds were corrected by 'the white winged pad'- thank you.

To Anonymous who has been prattling on, let me gather a collection of your literary work for readers enjoyment:

"...it makes old Baby Boomers who've robbed everyone else feel good about themselves..."

"All Baby Boomers have rhetorically is "racism" and "sexism" - beyond that, they're TOAST. Justifiably terrified with nothing to say or contribute..."

Honey, I hate to break this to you but Stevie Nicks is one of those things you seem to hate so much: a Baby Boomer. She was born in 1948. In the United States, a Baby Boomer is anyone born between 1946 and 1964 according to the US Census Bureau. So, seeing as how Stevie herself is a Baby Boomer, I guess she bears part of the blame for, as YOU say, destroying America (how THAT kind of politics came into THIS discussion is a mystery), she is not a thoughtful or interesting person only because she's so typical of post-war arrogance of a generation whose greed & avarice (big word for you there, thanks to Roget's for finding it for you) disguised as 'peace and love', she has robbed everyone else to feel good about herself (I KNEW there was something about those ticket prices that nagged at me!) and all she really has is "racism" and "sexism". Beyond any of that, Stevie is totally TOAST and justifiably terrified with nothing to say or contribute.

Let's all have a moment of silence here while we wait for "Anonymous" to forcibly extract his/her foot from their big mouth.

    OK, back to things.

Sadly, I cannot be counted as a Baby Boomer as I am much younger than our lovely Ms. Nicks.

Now to another of your fine, well-thought out & artfully presented comments:

"Love it how "White Winged Mess" writes flattering comments about herself disguised as "Anonymous.""

At no time have I stated or insinuated my gender. What makes you assume I am a "her"? You know what they say about assuming, don't you anonymous? "Never assume because it always ends up making an ASS out of U and ME." You've managed to make one of yourself. You should be so proud.

    ReplyDelete
  74. The White Winged Pad15 July 2012 at 19:10

    To another "Anonymous":

"Why does KING care if Stevie has kids, or "if she made a regret?" Too my knowledge how many kids does Oprah have - none, and Gayle - none I think. RUDE, SAD, PATHETIC."

Why does Gayle ask about Stevie's lack of children & if she has any regrets? Have you even heard or read any other Stevie Nicks interview? How many times has Stevie herself addressed the issue of her choices to not have children & how she feels about that now? More than can be counted. I think anyone worth their salt as a Stevie fan knows how she feels about this matter but this is a question that dozens of interviewers have asked her throughout the years & she has always answered. A lot of people have made the choice to not have children and they cannot and should not be criticized for it.

I'm not saying Gayle King is the best interviewer in the world. She's not. I'm not saying she's the worst, either. She's not. The questions Gayle asked Stevie in this interview are hardly different from questions other interviewers have asked Stevie throughout the years or topics Stevie herself has brought up in interviews.

As for everyone complaining that Gayle cut Stevie off a few times, yes, she did. I don't think that really mattered as far as what Stevie MIGHT have said, though. For all of you who are hoping, dreaming & positive that Stevie was going to say that Fleetwood Mac would be touring next year if Buckingham Nicks doesn't get back together and tour, wake up. What do you think Fleetwood Mac is right now? Since Christine McVie left the band in 1997, Fleetwood Mac has been nothing more than a glorified Buckingham Nicks with Special Guests Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. The band exists in name only.

After all this arguing, spewing of hatred and complete and utter nonsense (Anonymous, your little "fiction"--there are just no words for that) don't you all think it's time to move on & focus on something that's actually important? Yeah, this interview could have been better. No, Stevie wasn't attacked, mistreated or ridiculed in any way. Yeah, Stevie looked amazing and gorgeous, as she usually does these days. Enjoy it for what it was, pass on it for what it wasn't & move on.
