Glass Tiger "Then, Now, Next" Features Mick Fleetwood playing drums on the Beatles cover song "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away.
Remember Glass Tiger? They were one of the bigger Canadian bands of the 1980's with a slew of hits in Canada including the US Top 10 hits "Don’t Forget Me (When I’m Gone)" and "Someday". Well they're back.. Sort of.
They just finished a Canada tour opening for Roxette this month and in late August released "Then, Now, Next" which is kind of a best of set that includes 4 new songs one of them being the Beatles cover of "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" which features Mick Fleetwood on drums. Here's what keyboardist/songwriter Sam Reid had to say about the song and Micks involvement.
All members of the band are big Beatles fans, so when the group was looking for another song to add to the package, Reid reminded singer Alan Frew of an earlier recording of the classic "You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away".
“That track goes back to when Frew was working on his solo album 1994 album "Hold On". He was dabbling with that song back then. And we actually had it, and for some reason it never got released. But people should know that that’s Mick Fleetwood (of the legendary band Fleetwood Mac) playing drums on that,” he said.
“When we were looking for songs to put on this compilation, I told Alan I always love his version of that song, that we should put it out. So we played it for the rest of the band, and we fixed it up a little bit here and there. But I loved Mick Fleetwood’s playing on it. It’s very Ringo-like.”
