NEW Interview: Mick Fleetwood re-confirms Fleetwood Mac World Tour - Begins March 2013

Mick Fleetwood spoke with Mike St. James of The Eagle 92.9 about The Blues Masters Concert he was to Host on Friday August 31, 2012 in Lincoln Nebraska.  Mick sadly couldn't attend because of some personal issues that came up.

FLEETWOOD MAC TALK
During the interview Mick talks about Lindsey's one man show plus Stevie touring with Rod which segues into Mick re-confirming next years Fleetwood Mac plans where come March, 2013 Fleetwood Mac will be starting a world tour with rehearsals set for January and February. Mike St. James asks Mick about the conflicting reports where Mick was quoted as saying he was pessimistic about Fleetwood Mac ever getting back together again [Playboy Magazine "The Ghost of Fleetwood Mac" April, 2012] vs Stevie's recent TV interview where she confirms the band will tour again in 2013.  Mick states that at the time he thought with Stevie working her solo album so hard playing all over the world, he said he figured she would need and want to take at least a year off as a break and was afraid it would be too late.  But said much to his surprise, Stevie's really excited to get back together to play. Christine Mcvie was talked about and Mick says there's no chance of Christine coming back.  They've let go of that hope many years ago.  Mick said she nearly came up on stage the last time they played Wembely in the UK in 2009.  But at the last minute she backed out and decided just to watch the show from the soundboard.

So it looks like this tour could roll-out much in the same way the 2009 Unleashed Tour did where shows began in March, 2009.  Tickets and the first round of dates for that tour were announced in mid-December, 2008... If this tour follows the same path, we have a bit of time yet before we hear when and where the band will play.

Check out the full interview at The Eagle 92.9.  It's about 16 minutes long

  1. Where was the interview where he said "Sisters Of The Moon" would definitely be performed in 2013?

  2. Great photo. He must have been Swami Sri Yukteswar in a former incarnation.

  3. Mike I don't recall ever reading or hearing an interview where Mick stated Sisters Of The Moon would be played.

  4. Is Mick going to be in The Hobbit? That picture looks crazy.

  7. I hate to be negative about our beloved band but to me the news is very disappointing. A greatest hits tour and no new music. It's simply a business decision on the band's part. I understand why they're doing it and I hope it's a success but I'm just not feeling it. Remember when Stevie said of the UNLEASHED tour - "Just this ONE time" - they'd be going out with no new music to support. It feels as if they're just sort of fading away....

  8. That's because they ARE fading away. At least put out 3 or 4 new songs on iTunes and Amazon and that would give them one or two new songs to do on the road. Otherwise, I'll keep my $150 for something else besides 1 FMac ticket just so Mick can have a restaurant on Maui that I'll never go to or so Stevie can throw Sulamith some diamonds to play with. (Just kidding, whatever Stevie wants to do with her mega-fortune is fine by me) - BUT AT LEAST LOWER TICKET PRICES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. "Buckingham Mick's" should be the band's new name. It's just NOT THE SAME WITHOUT CHRISTINE!!!

  11. Wouldn't be wonderful if it was Not A Greatest Hits Tour. With Stevie doing Freedom, Affairs of the Heart, No Questions Asked, That's Alright, Paper Doll...........Really, we do not need to hear one more hit live ever ever again.

  12. ^ ^ ^ EXACTLY!! *NO ONE* needs to hear "Dreams," "Rhiannon," or "The Chain" anymore!! lol

We NEED to hear "Sisters of the Moon," "That's Alright," "Seven Wonders," and "Straight Back!"

  15. setlist please I wanna know!!!!

  16. And I'm sorry but I hope Stevie loses her franenboots!!! Saw her this summer with Rod & she looks like she's walking with a stick up her ass! She can't move with those things on and the twirl, people were laughing around us. She should wear some cool Nike wild color tennis shoes with her spandex pants and rock the shit out of them!! Even Steven Tyler wears tennis shoes on stage and runs up and down the stage! Pat Benatar wear sketchers and looks great. Stevie moved so much better on the 2003 SYW tour, the boxing thing with Lindsey, she couldn't do that with those monster boots on. I'm just sayin!!!!

  17. lets no forget she is 64 and shes never runs around the stage its not her style. but would like a change up the setlist too. How bout throwndown or destiny rules bleed to love her, steal your heart away and maybe again whats the world coming to.maybe say u will again, peacekeeper . did not get enough of those songs on the say u will tour lots of good songs there. but always faithful to my favorite group,no matter what they r playing. so lets all cherrish the last 10 yrs. or so left of this band career be happy they r still touring.

  18. Mick's a long-winded bore who promotes the failures of the elite, of which he fancies himself a member - until his next bankruptcy. As much as I love Fleetwood Mac, I've grown an aversion to him and his pretensions. I'm still very much into Steve and Lindsey, but Mick's a silver-pony tailed Baby Boomer jerk and John's an absentee artist. With the absence of Christine, I think it's time to ditch FM and go with a new BN alliance. I thing ART demands it.

  19. For Stevie, FM is an old obligation that primarily works on her in terms of guilt. With THE DANCE and SAY YOU WILL it was different, but now, it's all about making sure old lovers, boyfriends and colleagues can meet their financial needs. When Mick claims Stevie's "excited" about touring with FM I almost have to laugh. Surely, she's not. She's going to make money and provide for her extended family because, without her own children, she's an earth mother.

  20. Mick has learned nothing. Remember the SYW documentary in which Stevie was saying "you all have brand new families" and new houses and such - the men being in their 50's - and warning them that FM needed to adhere to a success model first and foremost, as they did with their "debut" record in 1975. Instead, Lindsey ruined that with his grandiosity and Mick ridiculed Lindsey for it while still going along with it. Well now, Mick is again facing divorce with young children, has opened a risky, costly restaurant venture during a recession and lives on Maui, one of the most expensive places on planet Earth. Really? As a drummer he thinks that FM royalties will pay for this? Stevie can continue to pour her energies into this pit of folly, but thank god she's Jess and Barbara's daughter and understands rudimentary finances. Lindsey is smart and hard working and will be fine, but FM as a whole is still very dysfunctional. With no new music in the pipeline, I'm really not inclined to support this nonsense.

  21. While I am very excited to see the Mac live one more time, I am very, very disappointed there's no new music. I get they haven't really had TIME to record new music with Stevie and Lindsey still supporting their 2011 solo projects (which is fine, they were both amazing albums), but why go on tour right away? If Lindsey wasn't such a control freak in the studio, Fleetwood Mac could record and produce an amazing, slick new album and have it out by summer. I am very certain Stevie wrote a lot of new material during the recording of and the tour for 'In Your Dreams,' and Lindsey undoubtedly has stuff too. It doesn't have to be eighteen tracks, it could just be twelve.

I did read something somewhere (can't remember where now) where Mick said he hoped they could at least put out an EP. I would be okay with that, it would give them new material to play live, produce a couple new singles (Gaga's EP gave her four successful hits).

As for the tour itself, I NEED to hear different stuff from them. "Dreams" and "Landslide" and "Go Your Own Way" will always be played. Unfortunately so will "Rhiannon and "Gold Dust Woman." I LOVE THOSE SONGS, but I do not need to hear them live again. I saw Stevie do them both last year on the first round of her IYD tour. I can tell you from experiencing that show, those two songs got less reaction from the crowd than anything else played that night. I want to see them dust off "Sisters Of The Moon." I want to see Stevie and Lindsey sing "Crystal." I want to see "Seven Wonders," "Straight Back," and "That's Alright" reworked with perhaps some different arrangement. As much as I adore the contributions Christine McVie made to the band and pop/rock music in general, Stevie and Lindsey singing her songs is not honoring Chris. We do not need "Don't Stop." Yes it was a huge hit, but Stevie singing Chris' parts is just not okay.

I also saw the 'Say You Will' tour twice. Stevie did not look like she was having fun, and also publicly admitted as much later on. To be honest I'd rather see Stevie and Lindsey each release new solo records in 2013. Fleetwood Mac reunions are great, but they don't have to be massive, global undertakings anymore.

  22. How can you moan about hearing the same songs again? I really don't get it, Fleetwood Mac are amazing live.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I do agree that it would be amazing to hear new stuff from them, but what you need to consider is that there are always gonna be new fans there as well. I've never had the chance to go to a FM concert because I only discovered them two years ago. While I'd LOVE to hear Storms, Crystal, Destiny Rules and Thrown Down, I would be very disappointed if I never got the chance to hear Rhiannon, Go Your Own Way and The Chain live. I'm just glad I get to see them at least once. Be happy that you already have.
