Video: Stevie Nicks Continues To Surprise! "In The City of Dreams"

She did it!!  Stevie Nicks performed "New Orleans" live for the first time EVER!

Stevie joined Glady's Knight and Melissa Etheridge in New Orleans last night at the AARP Life@50 event closing out the three day national conference with a live show at the New Orleans Arena.  Each played for an hour... Melissa first, Glady's second and Stevie closed the show... Unsure of Stevie's full setlist - it was likely abbreviated given she only played an hour. Mike Valentino and Beth Gallups were there... Below are their tweets to Stevie performing "New Orleans".

I think it's awesome that Stevie sang New Orleans... It's perfect for the city, a great tune and it had to be sung! Who knows when her next opportunity will be.

Thanks to an Anonymous comment we know have last nights setlist!

 1) Rock and Roll
 2) Rhiannon
 3) Landslide
 4) Stand Back
 5) New Orleans
 6) Gold Dust Woman
 7) Soldier's Angel
 8) Edge of Seventeen

  1. Stevie's debut of "New Orleans" last night in NOLA was amazing! As noted above, she said she was nervous. And I think she stumbled on one line of the lyric early on, but overall it was touching and terrific! The crowd totally loved it and you could tell it was meaningful for her. Now how about a Venice date to debut "Italian Summer'!!!

  2. This is UTTERLY fantastic. Now most of IYD has been played live. Something that has not happened since Bella Donna. IYD sounds a lot like BD 2.

New Orleans transferred great to the stage - you just couldn't hear alot of the instruments because of the low-quality recording. SO HAPPY TO SEE "NEW ORLEANS" start to grow up and go out into the world.

  3. Oh My Wonderful and why wouldn't it be "_)
So sad to think no SOLO Stevie Nicks next year except for possibly here and there. No matter what the history, no matter what it used to be.... another Fleetwood Mac tour, sorry not interested...Nothing is as good as Stevie on her own,, unless it might be a Buckingham Nicks reunion tour. Now that would be worth the price of a big ticket. Here's hoping she might still come to the west on her own!!!

  5. Yes! I absolutely adore this song (New Orleans). So thrilled Stevie finally performed this live and it sounded fantastic! "New Orleans" deserves so much more attention, I know it's easy to get lost on an album chock full of great songs, but this song always sounded like a single to my ears.
Such a simple, yet beautiful and uplifting song; Bravo Nicks!

  6. My favorite part of IYD is what I call the "sweet spot" in the middle of the album: New Orleans, Moonlight, Annabel Lee. I can play these songs over and over and never get tired of them. Great songs and great vocal performances on all. Glad someone got to hear this live.

  7. Now if we can only convince her fans not to sing along!

  8. Sharon is starting to sound like shit

  9. I agree about the fans singing along - I can't understand that - you can listen all the way there and all the way home and sing your heart out - when you get to see her live - why would you not want to hear her????? besides I don't want you singing off key in my ear all night - i came to hear the artist NOT you!!!arghhh - been a pet peeve of mine for so long!!!

  10. Come on, guys - don't be that way - the fans singing along is a HUGE compliment paid to VERY FEW ARTISTS.

  11. I swear this New Orleans was even better then the version that is on the album... And you know she WILL find a way to donate the money.... She has already donated quite a bit. It one of the few things Stevie does quietly....

  12. The comment about Sharon - you can't possibly listen to an audio recording of a concert and get a true sound - another reason why artists don't like people taping their concerts...I can understand that....

  13. To anonymous - about singing along at a concert - It's much more of a compliment to have someone listen and appreciate your live performance, the artist already appreciates that you are there as a fan. AND I am speaking about those of us who would rather hear the artist than you loudly, off-key, and in my ear. Especially since most of you aren't brave enough to sing that loud unless you've had a few....That's why I try to buy first 5 rows - I haven't had that problem with the fans up close....

  14. Apparently the 12:36 AM poster is one of those inconsiderate, off-key tipsy wailers bellowing into people's ears at Stevie's concerts.

  15. "Come on, guys - don't be that way - the fans singing along is a HUGE compliment paid to VERY FEW ARTISTS."

So what you're also saying is it's a HUGE COMPLIMENT to "paint along" over a Van Gogh or Da Vinci masterpiece?

  16. Who wants to hear some fan who behaves like an imbecile and believes everyone wants to hear him sing and not Stevie? If you must sing, sing to yourself softly. That way it's not disruptive and you're less likely to get the sh*t slapped out of you!! lol

  17. I completely agree with the last poster. Imagine if a singer-songwriter played their demo to a record producer -- with their children present --singing along. Yes, it would be cute -- but the producer's reaction? "I don't know what I just heard, because I couldn't hear the actual singer singing".

  18. THANK YOU, STEVIE, FOR SINGING "NEW ORLEANS" FOR US HERE. NOW, PLEASE COME BACK CLOSE-BY SOLO....PLEASE!!!! (yes, I'm yelling and jumping for joy!!!!) Of course, want to see youa and the Mac too! LOVE YOU!!!!!

  19. At the Wiltern concert last year I finally got to see Stevie close up and personal - after years of nose bleed seating and shows that left me cold. Imagine my surprise when a few fans sang over every note and then yelled over every word between the songs. Ended up being a less than stellar experience. Shocked to see anyone would find that behavior to be complimentary to a fan or an artist. Thankful for the cool footage anyway since I couldn't be there.

  20. Ugh! What a bunch of prigs! What era of Rock and Roll did you grow up in? It's perfectly fine for the audience to sing along to the chorus of one a band's BIG songs - many artists encourage it! A rock concert in a large venue isn't a classical music hall with impeccable acoustics. That's why they don't serve beer, sell T-shirts and having parking lot parties. And there's a huge difference between singing along with "Don't stop thinking about tomorrow" and "I have always been a storm." So sorry everyone's so prickly and narrow-minded. Fun site.

  21. and you wouldn't be annoyed if all you could hear was someone standing next to you or close by singing loudly and off key? Why pay all that money to see Stevie if you would rather hear a fan sing?

  22. what venue are you describing? please specify date, venue and audience - otherwise it's just kind of a mean BITCHING about life and people not behaving exactly as you think they should in every moment - because you yourself have grown into such a stale, boring, judgmental SHREW - singing is a good, natural instinct - alone and in groups - screw you fetishistic queens who think every note Stevie produces is wonderful - ugh - Stevie herself would not like this...

  23. You obviously don't have anything better to do than to embarass yourself on a website, but then opinions are like assholes, everybody has one and the fewer the facts, the stronger the opinion.....crazy lunatic....

    ReplyDelete
  24. Isn't it odd that someone who probably doesn't even know Stevie would know what she would or wouldn't like? And talk about being judgmental.....Anonymous 27 September at 1:28 AM - you better check yourself....

  25. LOL! Ok Mary....whatever....

  26. I strongly suggest the comment section be used to discuss Stevie, not to "go off" on other people who are posting. To each his own.
