Stevie Nicks performed at Elton John's recent 11th Annual An Enduring Vision Benefit benefiting his AIDS foundation (which ended up raising an incredible $2 million), where she once again weighed in on the American Idol drama between new judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey.
Stevie made headlines when she told The Daily that she would have "strangled" Nicki to death if she was Mariah, and has since apologized for it.
"They'll work it out," Nicks tells The Insider about the much-talked about feud.
"I hope so. I hope they can."
And would the Fleetwood Mac legend be open to judging a reality singing competition herself?
"I don't know if I'd have the time, it's very time consuming," she says. "You have to really be willing to give up a whole lot of everything else that you do if you're going to put a whole solid year into that."
I really enjoy this type of rare instance of seeing Stevie NOT looking artificially perfect. 64 year old women have jowls and wrinkles. The woman is a singer not a model. I wish she would pull her hair up and show her forehead. She looks elegant when she does that.
I know we're all focusing on Stevie's appearance... but I agree with the last poster. Stevie has a beautiful forehead and hairline! It's true... she's even prettier when those bangs are swept away from her face.
Funny how the worst pictures or videos of a person are what people view as the "real look" of someone while the best pictures tend to be suspect of manipulation. Lighting can be your best friend and make you look better than you really are. Likewise, the absence of good lighting can worse than you really are. Digital photography by default is unflattering, it adds weight, it distorts, it amplifies dark shades and defects, etc. All that has to be mitigated with proper lighting, makeup, and sometimes with our best friend photoshop. Not long ago, I saw Stevie in person from about three feet away and she was gorgeous and youthful looking. I did not see the jowls or wrinkles that this video depicts. She looked very different. I saw a slight jowl and minimal wrinkles. In fact, I have more than she does and I am more than twenty years her junior. I hope they don't show this video to Stevie because, like I said, people tend to believe that the worst pictures or videos are what one "really looks like" and that is simply not true. This can be especially depressing for women. If the right lighting makes you look good, the wrong lighting will make you look not so good. I think that is what happened here. Believe me people she looks much better than this in real life.
Loved your thoughtful analysis Anonymous 5:15AM. With the explosion of digital images everywhere and cameras on us at all times we all have to act as our own cinematographers whether we like it or not. I actually think Stevie looks great here, mostly because I know she's 64. She looks healthy and beautiful and her skin is glowing. I expect the wrinkles/jowls and whatnot and if they weren't there it would only be because she took the Madonna route, with the string face-lift, chipmunk cheeks and fillers that make her face look like a balloon about to pop. Thank god she just looks like an older Stevie.
BUT TIME MAKES YOU BOLDER,EVEN CHILDREN GET OLDER AND I'M GETTING OLDER TOO!!!! WTF DOES EVERYONE EXPECT SHE IS NOT GOING TO AGE???? AT LEAST NOTHING ABOUT HER IS FAKE WHO THE F*** CARES,AND FOR AS MUCH STUFF THAT SHE HAS BEEN THROUGH!!!!EVER SEEN SHITNEY SPEARS MANNISH LOOKING, RIDDEN HARD AND PUT UP WET LOOKING, AND WITH AN EVER CONSTANT (STATE OF CONFUSION/CONSTIPATION)LOOK ON HER FACE ALL AT THE RIPE OLD AGE OF 30!!!! OR WE COULD GO FOR THE (GOD LOVE HER ) CHER LOOK WHERE JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING ON HER IS FAKE INCLUDING HER LIP SYNCING!!!! I'LL TAKE MY STEVIE NICKS OVER ALL THAT ANYTIME!!!!!
Courtney Loves Stevie Nicks...
ReplyDeleteLighting is EVERYTHING.
ReplyDeleteStevie looks fantastic even under that horribly unflattering lighting.
ReplyDeleteJust goes to show you just how airbrushed the IYD photos were
ReplyDeletePhotos of 10 year old kids are "airbrushed" these days.
ReplyDeleteThere are NO photos (possibly with the exception of journalism) in mass media that are NOT photoshopped.
Reality in pop culture photography is dead...at least for now.

ReplyDeleteYes, you are right. We don't want her to age. We want her with us forever. We don't want to imagine Stevie being gone. Ugh, what a thought.....
