I love how engaged and energetic Stevie is here, but I'm sorry to say that I think her vocals are horrible. Her voice sounds like it's been ripped to shreds. She's hoarse and flat. She can't hit any of the "high" notes; she can't do the "Gold Dust" wail anymore (just as she hasn't been able to do the "Edge of Seventeen" wail for the past year). Maybe it's the sound system or the quality of the audio here....Whatever it is, I hope she gets the rest she needs for a long tour with FM.

Well...if the Gold Dust Woman video isn't enough proof, I don't know what is. Stevie's current touring band is stale. Stevie is only as animated and spontaneous as the band that accompanies her. As excited as I was for Waddy's return as director several years ago, it seems to have run its course. Remember what a fresh take Stevie had on The Other Side of the Mirror tour? Gold Dust Woman was the funkiest we'd ever heard it....in a GOOD way! Even on the Street Angel tour, there was a different vibe to her songs, and God KNOWS she gave it her all on that tour. She needs a different approach with her music to keep it fresh. She and her band have been going through the motions with her standard hits for years now. Any chance Stevie will notice how much more alive she becomes when the music is played with renewed passion? I hope so.

I must admit, it was nice to see her without Waddy.

I don't mind her voice here, singing Stop Draggin' My Heart Around. Such energy.

I do hope she rests her voice for the FM tour. Her voice is sounding a bit worn out and monotonous of late - but then again if you look at several videos from the 80s, her voice was the same, maybe it's just a sign of wear and needing rest? I hope so.

Rock on Stevie, you're making being in your 60s the new 20s

haven't seen stevie this animated in awhile. I think her voice sounds a bit rough but goes well with band.

Oh please, cut girlfriend some slack. Unfortunately she only sounds as good as she can hear herself. I suspect she's shouting because she's in a tiny little club with the Foo Fighters (a notoriously loud live band) with, like, 839 guitarists grunging away behind her. Who knows what her in-ear monitor mix sounds like with all that noise? I suspect it was hard to hear herself amidst the cacophony of stage monitors. All I know is that she sounds 100% better with her own band/crew and setup.

To the person who commented about Gold Dust Woman - OSOTM tour - you are spot-on. That arrangement - by far - is the best live rendition of the song I have ever heard. I have it on cassette and CD and it always makes my mix cd when buring music to play in the car.

Why has the music gone stale (unlike in the 80s?) Answer: The players never change anymore like they used to back in the 80's - hence we stopped getting anything musically-evolving (different) and diverse like we did back then. The players will always play it the way that they feel it - and they only feel it one way - and that's all we are destined to get until 1. The musical director changes the arrangments or 2. New players accompany Stevie on her tours.

Speaking of Other Side Of The Mirror, why do you think Stevie doesn't sing. "Rooms on Fire" anymore live? Why doesn't it ever make a set list, even for a night ????

As I'm usually Mr. Negative here I wanted to wait to see what others had to say about GOLD DUST before adding my two-cents. I never thought about the earpiece issue, which I'm sure is valid, but why the hell does she SHOUT the song from the start? On record it starts out with that intimate, almost whispered voice that Stevie never uses anymore. This flat, nasally, staccato approach is also what made SECRET LOVE translate so poorly live. By hitting it so hard off the top, her voice has no place to go, no moods to navigate, and it becomes grating and shrill. Nice energy, though. She reigned in these tendencies for BEAUTIFUL CHILD on the SYW tour and I hope her performances are more subtle and modulated on this upcoming FM tour.

I thought the performance was great as did the attended crowd, very hard and not really fair to judge a singers performance off of a video recording from a smart phone!!! I have seen her perform it with her band and fleetwood mac on several occasions even within the last few years and she can still sing it very well. She was also dealing with the fact that in a small venue like that, and the music being more of a louder rock feel you would have to attack the vocals a little bit more or else they would just get lost with the rest of the guitar noise etc.!!!Futher more I challenge you to name one singer that can, and or still does sing a song like the original some 35 plus years later!!! Name one and I will dismiss it right out because that singer simply just does not exist on this planet at least. She is near 65 years old and I would say that her voice is still great and better than most of the singers of her age group. Also I have youtubed some of her performances that I was in attendance for and they sounded nowhere near as good as they sounded at the venue.

I would say Dolly Parton, Tina Turner, Bette Midler—all of them have retained a good portion of their range.

Yes, I will grant you that people's voices change as they get older, and their is some natural loss of tonality, power, and range. But Stevie's has been quite dramatic, even in the past five years. She can no longer do many of the things that made her voice so distinct. Where's the wail in Gold Dust Woman? Where's the Edge scream? Where's the softness in Landslide? She can do it in the studio (For What It's Worth, Moonlight, Secret Love), but live now she just yells. She sings every song in the same tone and doesn't mix it up much.

Listen, I love Stevie. I really do. But I think this constant touring has ravaged her voice. I want her to rest, take a break, and let her vocal chords heal. That's all.....

Is it just me or does anyone else think Stevie is stoned off her ass!!!
