Christine McVie May Visit Mick & John prior to Fleetwood Mac Rehearsals

Fleetwood Mac will kick-off their 2013 tour in Columbus on April 4th, and fans should expect to see a foursome on the stage comprised of Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood.

The group did not reach out to Christine McVie for the upcoming tour, knowing that she would turn down the offer. Christine retired in 1998 and currently lives in England. McVie, who wrote and sang “Say You Love Me,” “Over My Head,” “You Make Loving Fun,” “Think About Me,” “Hold Me,” “Little Lies,” and of course, “Don’t Stop”, left the band after their reunion tour promoting 1997′s The Dance.

Mick Fleetwood told Premiere Radio that Christine McVie might visit him and her ex-husband (John McVie) as they prep for the tour. “We are hearing that Christine is going to come out — she doesn’t like flying very much at all — and that was part of, one of the reasons was why she had had enough of touring. But she’s coming out to visit me and John in early February, just before we start rehearsing.”

Interesting if this is the case!  Rehearsals would be in L.A.... What on earth would Christine be doing in L.A.? She couldn't possibly just be going to visit Mick and John on the rehearsal set! (no offence Mick). England to L.A. is a pretty fair distance to travel.  Hmmm... Makes you wonder.

[ edit: Here's audio of the interview where Mick says Christine is coming to visit... I suspect it is Hawaii like someone mentioned in the comments where she's going to meet up with Mick and John.  Still great to hear they'll be together.  Maybe they can talk her into contributing to some new music, since flying/touring is out of the question... I believe most fans would agree that appearing on new music and then not touring would be just fine with us... Agree or disagree? ]

  2. He's careful to say that she's going to visit John and Mick- no mention of Stevie.

I'd say she's going to Hawaii for a vacation, where John and Mick reside- not LA to work- and see Stevie.

  3. Chances are, Stevie will fly down there to see her.

  4. CHRISTINE PLEASE COME BACK TO THE MAC!!!! Record some songs, and then with the technology available, you could stay in London and skype/ISD your performance any where in the world...and never have to get on a plane. I would love to hear "Songbird" close the concert....and it would all be PERFECT...PLEASE CHRISTINE PERFECT...RETURN TO THE MAC. I would be something very special.

  5. Oh my God, it would be freaking amazing if she could join them on this tour! I shouldn't get my hopes too high, but hmm... Adorable photo of Chris, by the way!

  9. It's just a visit folks - I want Christine to re-join as badly as anyone but it's not in the cards. The only thing that's remotely possible is that she contributes songs to a new album, but this too is probably just wishful thinking.

  10. Hold on!! Keep in mind it is something that Mick Fleetwood says so.. a little salt on the meal please... Interesting she would only be coming out to see Mick and John...hummmmm

  11. I think they may try and convince her to make a couple of guest appearances. Perhaps perform one or two songs at a specific venue with the band. Probably a long shot but I doubt she is travelling thousands of miles just to see Mick and John. Vacation perhaps but the timing seems to lead to something more than a little r+r. Hoping for something really special this tour.

  12. Chris flew out to see Mick when he released the Mick Fleetwood blues band album last year or the year before and went on the road with him, so this isn't the first time she's flown over to see him. I suspect it's nothing more than a visit and catch up, and as someone stated earlier, Stevie may fly over and see her too.

Then again, there is a part of me which thinks it's all a bit coincidental, right before a tour/potential album

  13. The only time ive heard that Christine was with Mick during that album was she was at the show in Canterbury in England where they filmed the show and subsequently released it on DVD.

  14. At most I could see her laying down some vocals and keyboards on existing tracks. She might bring a song or two with her, but I would not expect her to rejoin the band on stage or for a full album.

I am nervous about new Fleetwood Mac material written solely by Lindsey. Surely Stevie has some outtakes recorded and not used from the In Your Dreams sessions she could contribute? If Stevie could contribute two or three of those, and Christine gave them a song or two, we might really get something special.

As for her getting on stage with the Mac - I'm sure it will never happn.

  15. I would LOVE some new tracks by Chris, done with the band!

  16. Yes. I agree w #6 above, who was joking- but for sure, it was the $5 million Nicks spoke of, along with her, for once, gorgeously concise and resonant words of why she wants Chris back so badly!

Start ''scraping together'' Stevie!!- I think it was actually Stevie's well chosen words that did it. Chris will be back! Oh, and the $5 million is no random figure- off the top, the band made $5 mil more per tour without Christine, which is why they weren't crying too hard! Now, Stevie would prefer Chris to the money.

It's happening. Now, it will be the real Fleetwood Mac again. Chris will be on any recordings and she will be on the tour. Never was afraid of flying- just needed to hear how important she was/is and Nicks took care of it. The Dance tour was pretty much the Stevie and Lindsey tour, audiences took Christine for granted- true, I only saw 6 of the '97 shows, but it was apparent that Chris was sick of being second fiddle to audiences, and very sick of how Stevie and Lindsey kept the whole love/hate drama alive- she's no shipper, Christine. Now, she knows that she's missed and needed- not totally unlike Lindsey felt.

Wait and see, Christine is NOT coming to America just to say 'hi, what's new?'
This will now be an event, a true reunion. Stevie's words, money from her and or wherever- Chris is coming back. And it will be huge.

  19. Don't you people understand that Christine is done? She doesn't care about money or fame. She doesn't care about having another #1 single or album. She's not part of this disgusting era we live in. She wisely cashed out a long time ago. She's not coming back to FM. That's final. I know change is hard to accept but painful, irrevocable change is a central theme to the music of Fleetwood Mac - which makes is what makes it much more than just throwaway pop. We have to grow up and learn about love and loss all over again.

  21. Actually, I do - the boy is called "Chucky", n evil a doll animated during a lightening storm, and a girl called Catherine Tremmel...or something. She killed lots of people up in San Francisco under the direction of Paul Verhoeven - this Joe Ezterhaus (?) guy told me so....

  22. The band should record SPACE NEEDLE and the Oscar Wilde song (HAVE A HEART?). These are very strong, classic songs that in modern Lindsey arrangements would be amazing. Stevie hasn't done a long, meandering Fleetwood Mac song in a long time - songs like Sara and Storms that were built around Stevie's moods and intonations....Stevie needs to do this kind of song again with FM. It would be an act of mutual trust. Surely, these guys come up with the world's hookiest song? Ever hear SAY YOU WILL? Ever hear Rumours? Ever hear Buckingham/Nicks? Great artists....

  23. Have No Heart-from TISL outtakes, would be a great surprise. Would be even better if Christine were to "stop by" and add a few notes, vocals, harmonies. A bit ofChristine on the recording..a strong B/N bonding=great music for fans. I think the addition of new recordings of B/N songs or/and demos is a place they should go....

  25. ive seen fm with out christine but obviousley theres a big gap without her equal talent as all the members do they all bring something to the table thats what makes them special. this will be the second time ive seen them but i was has i think most fans were hopeing that she would tour with them what is suspicious is why go to america when she could have visited all of them when they tour the uk . with 65million im shure she could go on holliday any time she likes also she sang in micks band why bother if youve given music up as with everything fm it appears very cloak and dagger. april will give the final answer then we will see which rumour is true

  26. this will be the second time ive seen fleetwoodmac and they were worth every penny but i would have liked to have see christine mcvie but doesnt look like thats ever going to happen for reasons best known to herself.what is strange is her going to america singing with mick ive watched the video and she seemed to be having fun considering shes given all that up and why not see them when they come to england ?but shes 69 i shouldnt imagine that she will get another chance even if she wanted one basically a shame that we are being deprived of some great songs and talent
