Sheri Salata and Erik Logan, presidents, OWN, showcased the upcoming 2013 schedule at the Television Critics Association press tour.

Along with announcing four new original series being added to it's schedule later this year, Oprah's "Master Class" The unique first-person series returns in March with the stories you've never heard from the people you thought you knew best, including Alicia Keys, Stevie Nicks, Tom Brokaw and more.

You may recall that back in September, 2012 a film crew from OWN was at Stevie's live show in St. Petersburg at The Mahaffey Theater filming the show to be used in some way on "Master Class".  Check out the post here.

  2. I really hope there ARE some stories I've never heard! But doubtful.

  3. I was just thinking the same thing. I would love to hear something new.

  4. I hope she talks alot about her mom! Typically in this series (for those who haven't seen it) - the "subject" looks directly into the camera the entire time and talks about the meaning of life, their weaknesses, their strengths, the lessons they have learned, regrets of the past, and they look to the future. It's really an inspiring show. They almost always show (if it's a singer) backstage footage, home movies, maybe a brief tour of their house, etc.

    Hee-hee-hee! Giggle giggle!

  7. Let's hope the Master Lighting is kinder to Mama than with Jon Bon Jovi...
Otherwise, I'm really looking forward to this show!

  8. I will certainly watch, but let's face it: Oprah is so over. Her network is a bust, and nobody really misses her talk show either.

  9. I have direct tv what channel and what nework is this show on!!! I need to know if I carry this channel. does someone have that infomation

  10. I'm confused how Oprah is over? O magazine is one of the top 10 titles in the country, OWN is up over 300% over last year & gaining. Many of the shows are winning the key demo's in their time slots. Some people should know what they're talking about before giving their opinions.

  11. The OWN network is a financial and ratings disaster - if interested check Deadline Hollywood for details. Oprah has tarnished her brand by delving into partisan politics and only blue-hairs buy magazines these days. She's over. If Stevie weren't in such prestigious company here, I'd consider this a cheesy mistake.

  12. If you're a doubting Tom don't be Petty...

  13. I think OWN is evolving into a great network that by the sounds of it is continuing to grow... It's what year 2 for the network? Cut them some slack! I read Deadline Hollywood and what they've said recently is ratings have soared this year and with the addition of Tyler Perry programs coming soon, will only continue to grow...

  14. Looks like Oprah's trolls are out in full force trying to spin straw into gold. When all is said and done, fewer people will see Stevie on MASTER CLASS than live in Kalamazoo. Any way you slice it, OWN is a big dud.

  15. OWN is hardly a dud. Sure, everyone, including Oprah, would agree it got off to a rough start ("I really had no idea what I was doing at the beginning."), but now OWN is growing and maturing. In fact, Ted Zedonne gave an interview with LA Confidential and said that it would begin to turn a profit NEXT YEAR - unheard of for any new network. Most networks take 5-7 years before they start turning over. It took own 3. Not that Oprah needs the money, but her investors and Discovery Network would probably like to see some 8 or 9 figure incomes. Oprah is the most powerful woman on the planet...the dream isn't lost on her. She will be remembered and discussed after she, AND US, are looooong gone.

  16. It is a quality show worth watching, and I CAN'T WAIT to see it!

  17. Right - if one quotes from OWN's press releases it's a roaring success. Those who live in the real world know otherwise. In any case, this is a big snooze as far as Stevie's concerned. She's willing and able to do crap like MASTER CLASS but won't participate in a new Fleetwood Mac album.

  18. ^ Eh, whatever. She does what she wants to do and nothing more. She's a normal person with an extraordinary life, and let's face it: everyone is starstruck with Oprah. Even Bill Gates said he was starstruck when he met her for the first time.

  19. So Oprah's made a huge pile of money selling horse-shit to the American public - I'll give her that. But it doesn't change the fact that it's still horse-shit.

  20. PBS's AMERICAN MASTERS = CLASS; Oprah's MASTER CLASS = CRASS

  21. Does anyone know when this airs?

  22. This post is about Stevie on Master Class, not a poll on what you think of Oprah, her network or any of her shows... Move on if it causes you this much stress! The majority are happy for Stevie and excited that Oprah or OWN are featuring Stevie on one of their programs. Its rare and if the format follows previous Master Class shows, it's different from anything Stevie's done. To the last poster. The series starts in March. Not sure just yet when Stevie's will air, but will keep the site updated once we find out.

  23. Thank you, Nickslive! Well put :)

  24. Ahhh-haaa...so Stevie's episode will probably coincide with the Mac tour?! Thank you Oprah for the free publicity!!! For some reason I really picture Oprah and Stevie as being close friends!

  25. With no new material to promote, it's easy to see why Stevie is sinking to this level to justify promoting the Fleetwood Mac tour. It's more attention for herself and she can play the sacred martyr again - which seems to be her role of choice these days.

  26. So much Stevie bashing!! None of you are her management, publicity team, agents, or attorneys...she has dozens of people telling her what to do and what to steer clear of. We will never know the motivation for her wanting to do "Master Class" - maybe she likes the show, maybe she likes Oprah - she's certainly not doing it for the $5,500 they pay. IMO, whenever Stevie is on TV it's a good thing.

  27. Stevie is a classy lady, and Master Class is the classiest show on OWN.

It's the perfect vehicle for Stevie to promote herself and/or her career at this stage of her life. It is like no other interview program on the air today. It exemplifies the term "original television" flawlessly. I guarantee the nay-sayers that we will indeed be hearing thoughts and experiences from Stevie that we have never heard before. This is not a biographical interview show, it's a sociological interview forum. It's not crappy or crass at all.

I suspect the posters saying those things have never seen the show or are just Oprah haters, of which there seem to many in this world. The woman is a living legend television producer and a philanthropic entrepreneur. I guess many people are self loathing (or something) and just can't acknowledge and respect the success of others.

  28. ^ ^ P E R F E C T P O S T ! !

Yes, "Master Class" is one of, if not THE, classiest show on television. It gives us an "internal" look at celebrities, spiritual leaders, etc. that we have never had. Who DOESN'T want to hear how Stevie feels about her life, from a deep, philosophical standpoint? I DO! I want to know exactly what she was thinking, every step of the way. This show will give us that insight we've never had. Will she cry? Absolutely; almost all "Master Class" subjects do. Will she laugh? Absolutely. Will she be shown in a more human light? Totally.

    All wins for Ms Nicks.

  29. First of all thanks to NICKSLIVE for all of the awesome info etc. that it provides!!! Secondly PISS OFF to anyone that clearly has some sort of axe to grind against Stevie, I have (Big Love) for all of the members but Stevie is by far the biggest star of them all numbers just don't lie(no room for discussion)!!!Finally to anyone who does not like the choices she is making and feels so strongly about it why don't you form a website called (idontlikestevieschoices.iamadumbfu**.com)or something like that, for the rest of us we appreciate all the info and updates hence the reason why we come to a Stevie friendly website named nickslive.blogspot.com!!!

  30. If these few people don't like the show then don't watch it. I Can't Wait for it. It will be like a minnie documentary of her life. Just like I would love her to do a documentary dvd of her whole musical career. Something simualar to what Tom petty did about 5-6 yrs. Running Down A Dream it was awesome. She is a female Rock in Roll icon she deserves it. It would go well.

  31. I've tried and tried to get more info or 'teasers' out of several Harpo employees, but mum's the word. Thankfully one of them mentioned it in a Tweet. I did find out that commercials advertising the new season of "Master Class" will begin to roll out February 15.

  32. Stevie still has stories to share...the question is whether or not she's saving them for an inevitable autobiography. Barbra Streisand recently revealed on Piers Morgan that Marlon Brando was a past love interest. He invited her on a road trip to the dessert where they would spend the night if all went according to his plans. Barbra declined the sleepover (crediting her good Jewish girl upbringing), opting for an abbreviated day trip. They also had long conversations on the phone and dinner dates. I found it all very fascinating. Stevie has more stories. :-)

  33. I have seen much of what was presented in snip its before but, it was pretty powerful stuff covering that amount of time all in the same timeframe. She seemed really genuinely shook-up discussing the death of he friend and failed marriage. Understandably!
