American Horror Story... "Seven Wonders" with Stevie Nicks. What did you think?

AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN - SEASON FINALE
Stevie was the focus of the full cold opening of tonights season finale of Coven. "Seven Wonders" was the title of the episode... and sure enough Stevie sang the Fleetwood Mac track "Seven Wonders". I thought it was really cool... and just like a music video which Ryan Murphy weeks ago said it would be.

While lip syncing to the song Stevie passed through many of the rooms on the main floor of Miss Robichaux's Academy decked out in a long flowing dress, platform boots and that famous top hat all the while singing "Seven Wonders" (the original 1987 Fleetwood Mac version from the Tango In The Night album).  Glimpses of the girls in the coven off in their own spaces studying and getting ready for the Seven Wonders competition were shown while the track played.  At the end of the song (It wasn't the full song, but a large portion of it), Stevie stood at the bottom of the stairs as the girls made their way down the staircase. They stopped... She said "Good luck girls" then turned, and walked down the long hallway and out the door.  Pretty major segment! Not sure what happened with the track that Ryan Murphy said Lindsey and Stevie were working on for the show... Maybe it was supposed to be a retooling or updating of "Seven Wonders", not sure.  In any case, it didn't happen.

Silver Springs was also used in the show later on after the new Supreme was revealed and a burning at the stake of an older witch took place.

Great show!  Cool opening to the season finale for sure... and an unexpected crowning of the new Supreme.

  2. Stevie's parts hurt the show. They were unnecessary and sort of tacky.

  3. It really makes one wonder after all these years, did Stevie decide to 'Come Out' and admit that she is in fact a Witch ? She made it crystal clear through the years to let everyone know that she was not a Witch, and yet she makes a big deal out of the fact that she was appearing on this show, that really was nothing more than violent and truely disgusting...what was she thinking ??? It was tacky and cheesy , and really added nothing to the show... nothing more than an ego boost for Stevie !

    1. Oh c'mon. Its a TV show. She was Mistys' idol and it played in nicely. It was also nice to hear and see Stevie Nicks.

    2. Seriously, It's only a tv show made purely for entertainment. I thought ot was nicely done. I truly enjoyed watching & FLEETWOOD Mac helped me get thru a very difficult part of my life when I was in foster care if not for the rumors album I may not be here (truth) also I never heard seven wonders & am going to make sure I buy the album which it's on

  4. Wow is it me or did the show make Stevie seem like a sell out! Especially with the In Your Dreams ad at the end. I don't think she's hurting for money that bad!! It would have been better with just the music without Stevie. She is trying to hard to be relevant! Kissing Katy Perry's ass!! Stevie you are supposedly a legend please act like it and stop doing trash like this!!

  5. I think Stevie did a wonderful job on the show. She has always said she was not an actress so she did what she does best, sing! I enjoyed the whole show and her music :) Great job Stevie, hope to see you on more TV shows.

  6. Wow, you people are Stevie fans??! I think not. She is a legend and people LOVE her unlike you bashers and you're not a "sell out" if you appear on a show that uses your music and you choose and 'allow' them to use your music. It's a TV SHOW and a fun, silly tv show at that. I think it reminds us of old ancient wisdom and power of the feminine and of course to "create drama" which is what Hollywood does, there has to be light working to overcome darkness. You people suck (for lack of better emphasis) and Stevie rules and you know it and it would be great if you got out of your judgmental boxes. All Hail Stevie the Rock N Roll Queen……..
P.S...Stevie's choice to be friends with Katy Perry.. none of MY business. I personally do not like Katy Perry music but I can not speak for liking her because I do not know her. My mother taught me not to judge. What did yours teach you??

  7. Pretty lame comments on here. Stevie is FAR from a sell out & Stevie doesn't need to try to be relevant, she is!

  9. OMG, I'm shocked at all the negative reaction on here over her AHS appearance.
    Aaaaand scene.
Not shocked at all really. I've never encountered more self important, smug, snarky, pseudo intellectual, nitwits my entire life. Of course the Internet does give voice and an amazing amount of hubris to bed wetting, narcissistic, sociopaths. This is a fan website and you are commenting on a singer/songwriter's choice of friends and tv appearances? This is not debate on the Middle East peace process, where such rancor might be understandable.

  10. Throughout the complete season they paid tribute to Stevie's music and image. I think it's great she appeared on the show, and she had a reason to do it. As a fan I loved the opportunity to see her do something so unusual for her. Did anyone ever imagined her appearing on a horror show? And both time they wrote in a purpose for her appearance. The first time Fiona used her to out Misty as the potential new supreme, and the second time she was encouraging the girls to perform the seven wonders by performing Seven Wonders. :) Plus we got a brand new SW video. And I loved how she was not portrayed as the ultimate fairy godmother of kindness. Remember how she high-fived Fiona with a smile while Misty was laying on the floor? I loved that. It's a horror show, and that's how it's supposed to be. Why a sellout? Because she did something new which was obviously a great thrill both for her, and her fans? The only ones I can see complain are some of those bitter Buckingham fans. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy, but boy can some of his fans be full of shizz. It often seems they are more focused on criticizing everything Stevie does then praising his music.

  12. She is the best and will always reign supreme. She is not a sell out. Don't speak of that which you know nothing about. She was, as always, very classy and made this season special with her presence. Who cares if she is a witch or a gypsy or whatever. She can be anything she wants to be. She is Stevie fuckin Nicks and she is the best singer of ALL time. Thats what I know. So be gone negative people.

    ReplyDelete
  13. My only gripe was that she didn't actually sing "Seven Wonders" live on the show the way she did "Rhiannon" and "Has Anyone Ever Written..." I was really looking forward to an actual retooling of the song. Oh well ... the new SW music video was really cool and it's nice to hear the song used more than 25 years after it was a hit. I also found "Silver Springs" to be a fitting send-off for the character of Myrtle Snow.

As for the negative comments ... why all the hate people? Stevie said in an interview a few months ago (one you could probably find posted on this site if you scroll through the previous posts) that she no longer cared what people thought, she was doing it because it was fun. As for her friendship with Katy Perry ... Stevie has cultivated friendships with younger artists since at least her reemergence in 1997/1998. Why do you have to call it pandering or ass-kissing? Fleetwood Mac has new music coming (well, at least they're recording new music) this year and a tour later in the year. Stevie may be a rock legend, but if you've not noticed MOST of what she's done in the last decade she has had to very heavily self-promote.

  14. I enjoyed the "Seven Wonders" final episode. Fitting song for the theme. I like that they used the original song track which Stevie added to by singing over in some parts.

For any independent artist, but especially those trying to stay visible today, you have to market yourself in way you can. For someone like myself who was a teenager when Stevie Nicks first came unto the scene, I think the show was a great way to introduce Stevie and showcase her specialness to another age group of people.

She has always followed her heart and has made very good business choices along the way, very respectable.

  15. Come on people! It was a TV show! There is no need for all of the negative talk. It was a great opening segment, considering what the finale was all about. As a Stevie fan, it was a pleasure to watch her dance and twirl through the house! Stevie is a smart woman who knew how to get an entire new generation to seek out her music and possibly fall in love with her, as millions already have! I will watch anything that our QUEEN ever does! Never enough STEVIE!!! <3

  16. Last time I checked, Stevie Nicks was a 65 year old adult woman, who can do what she chooses to do without anyones approval. Also remember, Ryan Murphy asked her to be a part of this, not the other way around. I loved the AHSCOVEN season and I thought Stevie rocked it! Stop being haters!

  17. If anyone was offered a part in a tv show to play themselves why shouldn't they do it? I think people just misunderstand how falttering it is to be offered a role playing yourself. Also its an opportunity to find new fans and turn people on to your music. I think it was a good season of the show and her part was an addition to the story, and entertaining.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Stevie was the best part of the season finale!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Okay, it's one thing for her to lip sync to the original track (kind of creepy seeing the young Stevie voice coming out of the older Stevie's mouth, to be honest), but at least do a decent job of lip syncing! I know she has never been good at lip syncing, but this was beyond dreadful. Other than that, I thought it was a cool homage to the look, feel and arcing camera shots of the original SW music video.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Stevie didn't "come out" as a witch. She made an appearance on a TV show! She played a part just like Jessica Lange. Jessica isn't really a witch either. what is wrong with people. It's a TV show. Also Stevie has nothing to prove to anyone. Her part added to the show. I being a dedicated fan enjoyed it very much!!

  21. I didn't like how Ryan Murphy took my two favorite witches out, Misty and Myrtle...
Stevie is NOT a sell-out, I actually was hoping she wouldn't be just sitting at the piano again singing Seven Wonders live...I thought the opening *stevievideo* was pretty cool....I get the lip syncing remarks and the young voice thing was a little wierd...but the video was great and was done in true Stevie/Fleetwood Mac fashion..just thinking that if you are gonna fly Stevie down to New Orleans for a cameo, she could have had more lines...was hoping that she would have presided over the Seven Wonders ceromonies with Myrtle and Cordelia...or shown some sort of magical power...but having said that, she is the most relevant 65 year old female Rock Star around...and I am glad that AHS:Coven used so much of her and her music this season...she keeps being exposed to a newer and younger audience and that is why she is still so relevant...

  22. Its called Air time back in the day their was not next to none of that going on. She is an icon you haters may not like it but its the truth. The more air time she gets the more I am so happy for her. She would on top of the mountain in todays younger female musicians. So the Katie Perry's of the world look up to her and if she is friends with her then good because it gets stevie out their in the young generations. You here it at their shows and in the media from the mac. How they want the younger crowds to know their music so it will live on years well after Fleetwood mac is gone. I thought it was great for this show the rating were realy high so its a win win for both. You heard it from an earlier post on here. This person never heard Sever wonders and now they want to go out and buy it and thats what this band wants to be heard from the younger kids. props to you Stevie rock on!!!

  23. All the people bashing on the negative comments seem to have no objectivity. Many of the hate bashers are spewing more hate.
The silliness of the Stevie parts have nothing to do with Stevie's appearance on the show. She did a great job at what she was asked to do. But, from the beginning, the Stevie story arc seemed SO contrived and unnecessary. It was a blast as a Stevie fan to see her and hear her music on the show, but for what it did for the actual show and story, well, that made me blush with embarrassment.

  24. Stevie was great last night. I love her in the long skirts, wish she would wear them on stage. And while it was lip synced, it was not the original Fleetwood Mac vocal. When artists make albums they do a special one called a "TV Mix" which has the instruments and background vocals, but does not have the lead vocal. They do this because lots of TV shows they may do to promote a song don't have the budget or technical facilities to have the music filmed live. And lots of artists prefer to do TV shows this way. Fleetwood Mac and Stevie are not those kind of artists, they always prefer to perform totally live. But the record companies still make all artists do a TV Mix of any potential single.

You could tell on the show last night that Stevie sang the vocal in a studio for this show, as it was a different vocal from the original. Then they had her lip sync in while being filmed. And I thought her new vocal was very good. She sings Seven Wonders quite well at this age, some 27 years or so since the original was recorded. It made me wish Fleetwood Mac would do it in concert when they tour again. Last year on tour Sisters Of The Moon did not sound anywhere near what it used to sound like live, they should take it out of the set and but Seven Wonders back in.

  27. Re: "TV Mix": I agree that this was not the version from the Tango album, but there is no way this was recently recorded. Her voice just doesn't sound like this anymore. I think this is probably just an alternate version from those Tango sessions. I've heard 6 or 7 versions of "Maybe love Will Change Your Mind." and at least that many of "Bombay Sapphire."

  28. I'm glad Stevie did this for a change. The show is definitely out there but at least she is doing something different. You can't knock her for that. I wander if she had any say about how Silver Springs would be used? I can't imagine she would like that song being played as someone was being burned at the stake!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I think it was way cool of Ryan Murphy & Co. to do this - I think it was his "thank you" to her. He was so amazed by Stevie's support of GLEE (she was the only aritst that came to the set and spent the day watching the filming of "her" episode and speaking with the actors to encourage them). This "video" wasn't an integral part of the episode like her work in her first episode. This was more of a showcase and thank you to her.

For that - it's brilliant. Her willingness to do it is brilliant. The end result is brilliant. Her excitement of being involved is clear whenever she talks about Coven and Glee when interviewed.

  30. It appears the last poster is correct: Here's what Ryan said in an interview with EW Magazine about Stevie and the Seven Wonders opening:

The opening scene with Stevie was great. So that was her idea?

Well, she brought it to my attention that we had been writing about the Seven Wonders, and she said, “Hey, do you remember I did this song?” And as soon as she said that, I instantly remembered that she did. So I got her to stay an extra day and do that as the cold opening, because I thought it was fun. So we added that to the script. I think it’s really great and clever and cute and a great homage to her.

Homage to her - perfect description...a thank you...

  31. 'Seven Wonders' is now at #116 on iTunes. This is great!!! I really hope it makes an appearance on some sort of chart next week. Also, I hope the song is done on the upcoming tour as I think many people have missed it as well as lots of other 'Tango In The Night' tracks.

  32. Stevie's part was one of her masterpieces. She knocked it out of the park. Just loved it and can't believe how cool she looked doing Seven Wonders through the house. Just thought she was incredible - and the dress was gorgeous. Can't say enough.

  35. I loved it! I thought it was awesome. It's rare to give a 65-year-old artist such airtime. We, as fans, should all be so pleased and proud that Stevie remains such an enduring and beloved singer/songwriter. This was not a sellout on her part. She did it because she likes Ryan Murphy and the actresses, because she liked the show's concept, and because she thought it would be fun. The fact that it is boosting sales and recognition of her music is a terrific benefit. It's only going to bring more attention to Fleetwood Mac when they announce their tour. This is all good stuff. I don't understand the hate.

Not my thing. I wish Stevie would be a little more picky and stick with things like Dave Grohl and maybe pass on stuff like this.
I would like to see this version of Seven Wonders put to bed for good.
Not a great era for Stevie Nicks.

  45. So happy to see all the positive comments outweighing the negative ones. As I said this morning I would have loved to see her actually sing it live on the show the way she did "Rhiannon" and "Has Anyone Ever," however what she did was FRICKIN' AWESOME!!! Perhaps when AHS: COVEN comes to DVD and Blu Ray they will include just the opening as a separate music video as a bonus feature.

"Seven Wonders" was the perfect choice and I'm very happy this song was dusted off. Over the past couple Mac tours a lot of Stevie's older stuff has been dusted off, and I kept hoping they would rework "Seven Wonders" into their newer sets. This makes me think - since Christine is back in the fold, and three of her songs best performed live come from Tango, maybe "SW" will get new life onstage again.

  46. Couldn't they have had Stevie rescue Misty from hell. I hate the ending of this show. Nan is stuck in the underworld and Misty is in hell. WTF! The two nicest witches got the worst of it. :( so bummed.

  47. I'm glad she's getting buzz for this, and I liked the video even though I would prefer a live performance - but here's a riddle: I only watched the episodes of this show featuring her appearances, and didn't find it scary in the least, so: is the 'Horror" in the title a misnomer?

  49. American Horror Fail30 January 2014 at 17:31

The second poster in this thread was exactly right. Stevie's parts in this show DID hurt it. Why? Because they were forced and not part of a naturally written story line. They did not flow. Nothing about this season flowed. I've watched AHS from the beginning and this was, by far, the worst of all three seasons. It was 13 hours of cliche, fanboi-ing, bad acting and how-shocking-can-we-be writing. It was bad. Zoe and Madison shouldn't even have been on the show at all. Emma Roberts was just playing a witchy version of her real self so no great stretch there. And Tessa Farmiga should leave the acting to her sister who is much more capable.

Silver Springs was an extremely poor choice for Myrtle. Silver Springs was NOT written FOR or ABOUT Stevie's mother. Stevie is talking to a lover, not a mother, in that song so there is absolutely no motherly connection there. Would YOU ask your mother the questions Stevie asked of the person she was talking to in that song?

Misty Day's fate was completely inappropriate. Of all the characters in this season, Misty was the only one, apart from Nan before they pulled the line of BS they did with her, who was genuinely good at heart, innocent and didn't think only of herself. She did not deserve the fate she received. Wonder if Ryan Murphy was angry that if Misty became the new Supreme she would get more of Stevie's time than he would? But, apparently all witches go to Hell when they die. Every single one on this show did, even the one that didn't deserve it most of all.

As for Ryan Murphy's quote about Seven Wonders: that is complete and utter BS. If he was as big of a Stevie fan as he claimed to be, he wouldn't have had to be reminded that she made that song. So many things in this show was tailored around his alleged "love" for Stevie yet he forgot that song? Even casual Stevie Nicks fans who only care to listen to her when she comes on the radio know it. Unless he lived in a cave in the late 80's, he didn't forget it either.

Regarding the Seven Wonders vocals: there was no way Stevie could have done new vocals for it and it still carry the same impact it did on the original, as was the case with Sisters of the Moon on this last tour. Face it, Stevie has gotten older. Her voice isn't the same it was 20 or 30 years ago. That happens. It's not her fault, it's age. She would have had to drop octaves and change the presentation of the song, just as she did with SOTM, and the original intensity would have been lost. It's best they played the older recording (not the album version!) but they should NOT have had her lip synching because Stevie can't do that to save her life, bless her. I guess since some of you seem to think these two appearances meant Stevie finally came out of the broom closet she could have just witched a decent vocal and let it be at that.

And as to Stevie being the "White Witch", I don't buy that either. Is everyone forgetting exactly why Stevie was there in the first place? She was supposedly a very good friend of Fiona and she came there to basically help Fiona find and murder her replacement. That doesn't sound very white witchy to me. And don't give me the "well, but Stevie didn't know!" line. The very fact Stevie was there said one of two things: either she was just as bad of a witch as Fiona and knew all along what her purpose was or she is the dumbest brick in the wall; even more naive than poor Misty was. Everyone knew how Fiona was. If Stevie was as good a friend as they made her out to be, she knew, too. She knew why she was there. Yet, she came and played along.

The only good things about Coven were Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates and Angela Basset. I've never seen three such amazing actresses wasted so poorly with such inferior material. And I hope I never do again.

  50. I wasn't crazy about the finale.

Silver Springs seemed like an afterthought, as if it simply had to be inserted somewhere.

Visually, I thought the cold open was incredible. But, of course it had no cohesiveness with the overall plot of the show.

As others have mentioned, I also thought it was stunning that she would appear on a show where she played a high-level witch. I watched every episode this season and was stunned at some of AHS's content. Some opt the stuff is not only extremely dark, but also pretty authentic, as well.

Regardless, I enjoyed her appearances. In particular, I thought the HAEWAFY segment was great.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I am not a fan of the show and what little I did watch was just because of Stevie... Makes you wonder though if the producers "used " her and it seemed to pay off for both parties... I don't think the show was really that well done and the use of Stevie songs seemed rather out of place... but...new exposure.... so.. I understand 7 Wonders hit #3 on ITunes because if it... so $$$$$
    So.. any emmy talk??
BTW.. I don't think there is much Stevie Nicks could do that wouldn't attract some Haters.. Too bad!! Stevie Nicks RULES!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I totally agree with what American Horror Fail said… Ryan knew about Seven Wonders, Stevie's appearance was forced and hurt the show. And they way Nan and Misty got treated was for shock value and should of never happened.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Already over 50 comments, some good, some bad. I have to say, besides the usual terrible lip syncing haha, it was pretty cool. She rocked the classic Stevie look. NICE! I am not an avid viewer of the show, only watched the two episodes she appeared on, and maybe she didn't necessarily fit into the plot, but who gives a f*ck, we were exposed to some Stevie Nicks!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and the discussion is definitely spirited ... Stevie has said in the past, however, that she always leaves her songs open to interpretation. Yes, "Silver Springs" was written about a lover, but she's said in a dozen interviews over decades that no one song just means one thing, meaning there are several threads in every song. So yes, Stevie may have written "SS" about a lover, but she would never be offended that someone else used it in a different way.

As for the cold opening, I think it served its purpose ... it was a tribute to Stevie Nicks, nothing more. True, it did nothing to further the story, but so what? AHS: Asylum left several things hanging - the alien thing was never explained.

As I said in an earlier comment, AHS has always been about the horror that humans do. The true monsters in AHS are always humans, it's designed that way. People do bad things and bad things happen to good people. Yes, it sucks what happened to Nan and Misty, but it's not entirely unrealistic.

Other than wishing she would have performed the track live in the episode (like she did with "Rhiannon" and "Has Anyone Ever Written..."), I'm curious why she never used "New Orleans." Obviously in the documentary she notes how special the song is to her, but a perfect opportunity to give IYD some new promotion would have been to sing "New Orleans" at the piano (in episode 10) instead of "Rhiannon" or "Has Anyone Ever Written..." I think hearing her sing "New Orleans" live at the piano would have been a real treat since it's a newer track.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I'm glad to see this AHS-Coven come to an end! Stevie's minor appearances, really didn't add up,
to this story line, a few twirls of the shawls, singing a song -playing the piano & a few short lines of
dialogue? I agree that her song " New Orleans" would have been a better choice. I think the really over the top acting part was when Misty fainted at the sight of Ms. Nicks. Stevie stick to singing...
and if you must show up on the small screen...give your fans something we could all agree upon, like a weekly reality show with a real in depth look at your life, that would be worth looking at.If Gene Simmons can pull that off ....you know you could !
Oh and by the way, Stevie may be a legend...and she is...but not everyone is going to agree with what she does! Freedom of speech here people !

  56. Eh - didn't see the show and don't care to (watched first year of GLEE and dropped it in the 2nd because of the precipitous decline in quality - don't care for Ryan M at all). So Stevie lip synchs badly to an old hit, walks through an "atmospheric" house drenched in digitalized sepia and gives her blessings to the cast in a bombastic, over-posed finish. I don't get it. Why is this special?

Did anyone else notice how the camera lost interest in Stevie about 2/3 of the way in, after which this quasi-music video is little more than a series of tracking shots just inches above the floor?

Kind of dumb on the whole, but admittedly good exposure for Stevie. I'm glad it's over.

This coming from the same woman who has also admitted that she has no idea what some of her songs mean because she was too high to remember why she wrote them. Stevie doesn't leave her songs as open to interpretation as she thinks she does. I'm sorry, I can't buy at all that Silver Springs would fit in the least with putting someone to death. Show me on lyric in that song that actually FITS that situation. I don't think she's offended by the poor use of the song at all because hey, she got paid for it. No big deal.

"As for the cold opening, I think it served its purpose ... it was a tribute to Stevie Nicks, nothing more."

And therein lies the problem. There shouldn't have been any tributes to Stevie Nicks in this season at all. This season was not supposed to be about Stevie Nicks. She was a minor part of it; an obsession of one of the characters and a tool to be used by another. Why make her the opening focal point of what should have been the penultimate episode of the season?

I will agree that the writing in AHS from the first season has been all over the place. This series has never had good writers. They bring things in and never explain them, they add characters that serve no purpose, they introduce plot lines then conveniently forget them because they don't know how to get themselves out of the mess they got themselves into. I can't see that changing at all in future seasons. Thanks to how truly awful this season was, this is my last go with AHS. I'm glad Jessica Lange is jumping off the ship as well. She doesn't need this garbage to bring down her amazing career. I just hope the writers can actually pull their heads out and write something good for her for her final season with the show as she is much too good for this.

"Other than wishing she would have performed the track live in the episode...I'm curious why she never used "New Orleans." Obviously in the documentary she notes how special the song is to her, but a perfect opportunity to give IYD some new promotion would have been to sing "New Orleans" at the piano"

Again, there's no way Stevie could have performed Seven Wonders live. She doesn't have the voice for it anymore. "New Orleans" wasn't used probably because Ryan Murphy and the musical directors didn't think it would be recognizable enough and because it is not a good song. I don't care how much it means to Stevie, it's not a good song. Maybe if season five is American Horror Story: Bloodsuckers they can use "New Orleans" so that vampire brushing can get in there. And come on, don't you think it would have been absolutely pathetic to have turned AHS into a subtle In Your Dreams promo ad? That's just cheap and tacky and would have felt even more out of place and odd than Stevie's participation already did. Even playing an IYD doc promo at the end of the show--cheap and tacky.

As Anonymous said, I'm no fan of RM either. Don't care for the guy in the least. I'm glad this whole nightmarish season is over. It was a very poorly executed bit of good exposure for her and I'm glad Stevie is getting a tiny burst on iTunes right now. I don't see it lasting long because we're coming off the up of last nights finale. When that up comes down, so will the numbers for Stevie's songs. That's just the way of things. It happens with all sorts of shows and events.

  61. This just goes to show that you can't please everyone. It's amazing how Stevie's fans find fault with everything that is does - she should have sung this, I can't believe she appeared on THAT show, she should wear this, why did she wear that......if I were Stevie, I would stop recording, doing shows and just go into retirement. Why even bother with so much negativity. She almost stopped doing shows because of how cruel the press (and yes, her fans as well) were about her weight gain several years ago. Her fans make comments about her weight now. Not to mention the attacks on her vocal range. She is a beautiful woman inside and out and if people can't come to terms that she will never be a size 0 or regain her vocal range again, don't listen to her or look at her.

    @Anonymous:

It wouldn't matter to me if Stevie were a size 0 or a size 60. I don't care how heavy or thin she is. How much she weighs doesn't mean anything to me. Caring more about a persons weight, height, hair color, etc. is just stupid. If I'm honest, I loved Stevie just as much when she put on all the extra weight she did back in the early 90's as I did when she was worrysomely thin back in the 70's. So, you'll never hear that complaint from me.

Whether you like it or not, her vocal range is very much an issue because of what she does for a living. A singers voice is their tool the same as a hammer and nails are tools to a carpenter. If that tool is damaged or loses it's edge, the end product suffers. Unfortunately, Stevie's tool is not as sharp as it used to be. Most musicians her age, their tools aren't as good either. Lindsey's vocal range is horrible these days as well. "Miss Fantasy" off the EP was painful to listen to because he was singing notes he had no business attempting. It happens. Get used to it. And, yes, the fans have every right to, as you say, "attack" it. Although, I wouldn't say commenting she doesn't have the vocal range she used to is attacking.

Stevie's skin is a lot thicker than you give her credit for. I'm sure there are things that hurt her feelings. She's only human. If she were to fall to pieces every single time someone said something negative about her you never would have known Fleetwood Mac with Stevie Nicks. She would have quit and gone home to her parents and finished college to be a teacher. She knows how to take criticism and handle it.

Stevie is a beautiful woman. Ten years ago I would have given you both the inside and out but now I'll only go so far as the out because I think she's starting to show some personality quirks that make her less than beautiful. The problem is that she's gotten too much praise from the people around her and her fans that think she is better than perfect.

You must be one of Stevie's younger fans that doesn't remember the days when she was a joke and it was embarrassing to admit you were a Stevie Nicks or Fleetwood Mac fan. I went through those days and didn't give a rats arse then what others thought of my opinions of the band and don't now.

  63. Seven Wonders at 94 now...and very close to being the number 1 rock song on itunes!

  64. I think Stevie has crossed "through the looking glass" and is now "running through" Gray Gardens.

Can anyone really take this ridiculous number seriously?

  65. Since no other people then fans of the Rumours lineup visit this page, it is very obvious that you are a just one of the bitter Lindsey Buckingham fans. One of the few he has outside of Fleetwood Mac. Well hun, it is time you finally accept the fact that Stevie's worst selling album still outsells all of his albums combined. The attendance of people on her worst selling tour outnumbers all of his tours combined. Both Stevie's and Christine's singles charted better then his singles within the band. Is there any point in comparing his solo career to Stevie's? Do you know the reason why Stevie is the superstar he will never be? It's because she is the far superior songwriter. If you are a skillfull instrumentalist, every time you pick up your instrument and start playing, you can completely turn off your brain, and still create a melody just by following rules, and that is exactly how Lindsey writes. He is a master guitarist, and (used to be, now his methods are ridiculously outdated) a good producer, but there is absolutely no depth in his songwriting. If you are satisfied with just brilliant technical playing, then fine... But have in mind that the purpose of art is to transfer the emotion of the author to other people. An artist is a person capable of manipulating other people's moods and emotions through their work, and it's something Stevie does with such ease... Despite the very basic piano playing, her demos are deep, atmospheric, and meaningful. Minimalist songs that are a lot heavier and "fuller" then Lindsey's overproduced, vocally manipulated, shallow crap. She is the artist Lindsey will never be, just as she will never be an instrumental virtuoso. In 40 years of creating, he somehow got lucky a couple of times to spontaneously reach that point, but everything else is just shallow "technical", and often pretentious songwriting buried deep under, I will say it again, brilliant guitar playing, and production. He is best as a contributor to a great band, which is obvious if you look at his solo career. Now go and spill your bile on The Ledge for example. That is the right place for frustrated haters like you who cannot stand the failed career of their favorite musician. When Lindsey left, the band still maintained their status and success. When Christine left, they did the same, but I guarantee you, if that "completely washed up seahag who hasn't been able to sing for years" leaves the band tomorrow, they wouldn't be able to fill a stinkin' bar. You are not just a moron. You are a sad, bitter, shallow, frustrated moron.

  66. Buckingham fans vs Nicks fans - your bickering is EXHAUSTING. Those of us in the middle want the far right and the far left to shut the f*** up already.

  67. Stevie and Lindsey are the main people in Fleetwood Mac at the moment. They are both incredible as you will see if you saw them on tour, so why bicker and choose between them? They are a couple on stage and for them to be singled out by their successes or weaknesses is ridiculous!!! In Fleetwood Mac they are both totally equal.....
