ACM Awards: Lady Antebellum, Stevie Nicks Rock 'Golden' Performance
Stevie Nicks teamed with three-time ACM vocal group of the year Lady Antebellum to pair up their latest hit "Golden" and the Fleetwood Mac classic "Rhiannon" on Sunday at the ACM Awards.
"I love Lady Antebellum, and to me, this song is their 'Landslide’ because it's just that spectacular," Nicks said earlier in the week in an announcement for a special release of their joint version of "Golden."
Nicks' appearance at the ceremony precedes a North American tour with Fleetwood Mac that, for the first time in 16 years, features singer-keyboardist Christine McVie as part of the lineup, after rejoining the group in January.
Lady Antebellum's star has continued to rise on the country charts, returning to No. 1 on the Country Airplay chart last month with "Compass," which received songwriting credits from the likes of production duo Stargate (Beyonce's "Irreplaceable," Katy Perry's "Firework"). "Compass" is off "Golden," the trio's May 2013 release, which also hit No. 1 -- including a top spot on the Billboard 200, Lady Antebellum's third such album.
The Nicks-Antebellum collab came about after both parties performed together on "CMT Crossroads" last September. They tore through country chart-toppers "Need You Now" and "Just a Kiss," as well as rock standards "Landslide" and "Rhiannon" -- the latter with Scott singing the song's higher melody.

She looks great!
ReplyDeleteStevie, darling, it's time for you to go shopping and stop wearing that same top all the time
ReplyDeleteRude
DeleteAnd the reason for the close up of Stevie's hand is? We all know she is in her 60's. You don't see people taking pictures of the hands of men her age.
ReplyDeleteHas nothing to do with age. It's all about the jewelry... Photographers have done it before focusing on what she wears around her neck.
ReplyDeleteShe is the best female.voice in.rock.history she is WONDERFUL
ReplyDeleteWell let's gave it- when your worth > $100 million bucks it's all about jewelry.. Stevie's loaded with both. Her performance was flawless tonite- REALLY FLAWLESS! I just wish they had performed all of Golden. It could be a huge radio hit for Lady A. They could have easily not done Rhiannon but me thinks Hilllary wanted to show her chops on it. Yeah- I can see why our vein Diva Stevie likes her fingerless gloves so much. Being the vampire she is with almost no sun exposure she leaves her skin "see thru". Long Live The Queen Goddess
ReplyDeleteTheir performance was perfect. Just like the entire Crossroads performance. That needs to be released on DVD. Golden should be a multi-format radio hit.
ReplyDeleteThis utterly perfect vocal at the ACM is great reassurance to casual fans that the upcoming final world tour will no doubt be stellar from her and of course there is so much pent up demand for Chris. I predict pre-sellouts I'm most cities. Hopefully Lindsey will take a long hard look at his vocal effort and stop all that screaming and caterwauling.
ReplyDeleteI'm irrationally raging about the fact that she decided to wear that stupid black top again.
ReplyDeleteI don't care what Stevie wears! Why does it matter? So what, she dressed casual for the red carpet. Last time I checked, Stevie was a 65 year old woman who can wear what she wants without approval from others. What matters is, she is an amazingly talented singer/songwriter, who works very hard to please her fans.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. What is with her handlers & her wardrobe choices these days. We all know her closets in all her houses and storage facilities are overflowing with stunningly beautiful choices. Not to mention she can have something made everyday if she wanted. Stevie...please do not wear these clothes again. I'm starting to feel embarrassed on your behalf!
ReplyDeleteSeriously! Enough on Stevie's clothing already... She's going to wear what she's going to wear and feels comfortable wearing.. She looks amazing! Give it up!
ReplyDelete@Nickslive Thanks for stepping in. It's getting beyond tolerable. We're supposed to be here for information, updates and a bit of banter. Everyone has got their opinion across about her clothing - now drop it. You don't have to say it 80,000 times!
ReplyDeleteI've been following Stevie since 1975. I don't give a hoot about what she wears. I'm just glad she's as graceful on stage with other performers, never trying to steal the spotlight just for herself. Stevie has always been a team player with the various other artists she has performed with over the years. And when the photo ops come around, she still is as graceful in them, as she is on stage behind her mic. She is a very talented song writer, and storyteller. Let her be what she was meant to be, without criticizing her. America's beloved Queen of rock, and roll.
ReplyDeleteI've been following Stevie since 1975, and I'm here to say that what Stevie chooses to wear, is her own business. What she should be complimented on, is about the fact that Stevie has always been a team player, with other performers. She's a very talented singer, songwriter, and storyteller. She has always been graceful on stage either with FM, doing a solo tour, or performing, and lending her voice to other talented artists as well. She has never been a person to try to steal the show for herself while doing a duet, or three part harmonies. She can do it all. Stevie is the definition of a full fledged team player. And I'm thankful, that all her life, she's never been a trashy woman, with her outfits she wears, like a lot of other up, and coming female performers on stage are. So let's give America's beloved Queen of Rock, and Roll the utmost respect, and dignity she has earned over the course of the years, entertaining us with her mystical charm, her beautiful eyes, and astonishing voice, and her gracefullness on stage. Not once in all the years, that I've been following her, have I seen her make a negative, public spectacle of herself with the media. Unlike a lot of other musical performers I've seen over the years. Let's give credit where credit is due. Stevie Nicks is an awesome performer, and that's that!
ReplyDeleteShe is Stevie Nicks and she has been in the business for 40 years I
ReplyDeletethink she can wear whatever she wants. I love it that she is out there still doing her thing , looking great and sounding better than ever. and before the someone says something about her glasses, those look great too. Rock On Stevie!!!
I agree - who cares what Stevie is wearing. She wears what makes her happy and feel comfortable and confident.
ReplyDeleteHer voice was beautiful last night and so was she. She's what every singer should aspire to be! Gracious, classy and humble.
Spot on performance, and I too can see Golden as a hit. About Stevie's attire, I can't imagine what else she is supposed to wear. The black outfit is slimming and edgy without making it look like she's trying too hard. Check out Madonna's Instagram and you'll be glad Stevie is dressing classy and age appropriate.
