via Warner Bros. Records here's "Twisted" from Stevie's new album "24 Karat Gold - Songs From The Vault". I like it! It'll take me a bit to get used to, I'm so used to the duet version she sang back in 1996 with Lindsey on the "Twister" soundtrack... But this is good! It's a great song.
[UPDATE] Warner Bros. removed "Twisted" and replaced it with Watch Chain.

STEVIE NICKS "24 KARAT GOLD - SONGS FROM THE VAULT"
Pre-Order from Stevienicksofficial.com Available October 7th.
Great ..a lot better than track for movie.100%
ReplyDeleteShe sounds fantastic on this! The instrumental backing track rocks as well.
ReplyDeleteI'll stick with the Woodstock version from '98. It doesn't get better than that.
ReplyDeleteThis new version is lifeless - and that's sad. IMO "Twisted" is the most important song Stevie will ever write. I had HIGH hopes for this track and upon listening I'm let down.
Really liked several cuts from this collection so far. A couple have been botched badly. But this vocal retake is awesome to me especially since I always felt the original she did with Lindsey for Twister was perfection. This is a very special retake for Stevie. I just knew she would botch Blue Water. I wish she had just not selected that one. Anyway...this Twisted is amazing to me. Rock on Gold Dust Woman!
ReplyDeleteI'm liking it .. soft .. new which is refreshing .. the old is the classic. This album is going to be hot!!
ReplyDeleteThat is excellent. By far the definitive version of the song. The music is excellent and love the new lyric at end of song. Cannot wait to get my hands on this album.
ReplyDeleteI like the upbeat version...but... To me the Woodstock 98 version is the perfect one. I miss Stevie yelling "the Sun Goeeeeeeesss Doooooown " .... It could have gotten an even more rockier edge.... But it's good... After all I have listened to now it looks to me that Mable Normand will be my long distance winner of the 24 Karat Gold... And even I clearly miss Something Wxquisite and City Of Hope this all sounds lije a great album to me
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone else get irritated with people who post messages such as "Blue Water is botched" when that opinion is based on a 10 second clip from a 4 minute song played probably on a smart phone with a speaker smaller in size than a dime?
ReplyDeleteGet real. You're a joke to us who have common sense enough to wait until we listen to it on a good home or car stereo system before we offer an opinion.
Thank you to the above poster! There are a few here who have been endlessly criticizing everything about this project from before the first clip was ever released! So tiresome...
ReplyDeleteSorry peeps. I like most of what I have heard through a set of Sennheiser phones. I know the CD will be the best listen. I am a huge Nicks fan and have a giant collection. But seriously like all great artists- when they are bad they are bad. While I know this post is about Twisted and I'm genuine when I said I was surprised that she pulled off a fantastic retake of an already great song I was contrasting this amazing success to what I fear she couldn't do with Blue Water which has always been one of my all time favorite out takes she ever did. Just Piano her & Sharon. Based on what I'm hearing this take falls into my Stevie "cringe worthy" folder. Probably not to be listened to again. Anyway stop whining. This is a fan site. Not a daycare playroom.
DeleteLiking it very much!
ReplyDeletewhere is the link to the song on this blog!
ReplyDeleteNot Good - When Stevie sings/speaks the lyrics now slowly it comes across to nasally and monotone. I still love her and some of the faster tracks are amazing!!
ReplyDeleteSounds great! Nice slow build with the music rising in intensity and I think Stevie sounds really great on this. My favorite version was the one she did on the Enchanted tour but like just as much. I think this is going to be one of Stevie's best and hope she does more releases like this!
ReplyDeleteSounds great! I think Stevie sounds really great on this. I'm always saying this, but I feel Stevie's voice in many ways is better than ever. My favorite version was the one she did on the Enchanted tour but I like this just as much. It ends up being pretty rockin'. I think this is going to be one of Stevie's best albums and hope she does more releases like this! Kudos to Stevie, Dave, Waddy, and all involved!
ReplyDeleteI always preferred the version on the Twister Soundtrack to the Woodstock '98 version. However, this one is excellent. The lyrical differences are what, in my opinion, make this version perfect and her singing here is stellar!
ReplyDeleteEasily the best version! Excellent!
ReplyDeleteThe twang guitar in the back ground at the beginning reminds me of another song long ago. Wish I could remember what it was. Any thoughts?
ReplyDeletewhere do we go to listen to the song!!!
ReplyDeleteIf you are having problems seeing the soundcloud player in this post... head on over to Warner Bros. Soundcloud site to listen: https://soundcloud.com/warnerbrosrecords/stevie-nicks-twisted
ReplyDeleteYou say "probably" not to be listened to again yet still make a huge judgement off of a 10-second snippet of the song? Would anything have really satisfied you? You "probably" should just stick to listening to the demo!
ReplyDelete"Blue Water" is one of the Top 5 songs on the new CD.
