Man... with each song released, it just keeps getting better and better. Check out the title track from Stevie's new album "24 Karat Gold" at Parade.com (or below). It's pretty much everything!
Stevie Nicks - 24 Karat Gold [Official Lyric Video]
STEVIE NICKS "24 KARAT GOLD - SONGS FROM THE VAULT"
Pre-Order from Stevienicksofficial.com Available October 7th.
After first hearing the first snippet, (which I hated), and demos, this song has gone from train wreck to masterpiece!
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely correct ~ this song is pretty much EVERYTHING!!! This is classic! This song exemplifies the reason I got into Stevie's music in the first place...the mystical lyrics, the layered harmonies, and that late 1970's California sound!!! They really painted a clear picture with this one! It sounds like a moment in time that has been lost and rediscovered, as corny as that sounds.
ReplyDeleteWow!!!!!!!!!!! Stevie sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI actually like this. The original demos were always just alright with me. Not my favorite songs but certainly not the ones I loved most. This is the best thing I've heard off this record yet. THIS should have been the song they chose to make a full fledged video for as they could have done something amazing with it. Lady was an absolute waste of time an energy. Five minutes of her standing there wiggling and making hand gestures. This song is something I could hear my local radio stations playing. Lady is definitely not. There's a hook to this song where Lady has nothing. What poor decision making on both Stevie and Dave's part. A missed opportunity to get a stronger song out there to try to appeal to buyers who might not care about this record at all. Let 24 Karat get in their head and keep Stevie in their minds.
ReplyDeleteStevie is sounding Awesome here!! Starshine is Awesome too. Would have liked to see the last 15 seconds (maybe) edited more of Starshine. I'm getting so exicited this is going to be an excellent record.
ReplyDeleteThey do keep sounding better and better. This is so classic Stevie! Love the music, the background vocals, and most of all Stevie's incredible vocals. I think she sounds better than ever!
ReplyDeleteThis is the best so far from any of the new songs and it is produced beautifully. It sounds like a hit single. And not to diminish it in any way, but I sort of wish she would have saved this for the new Fleetwood Mac album. I am worried that she may not have any songs as good as this or so many of the others on her new CD left for the Mac.
ReplyDeleteNone of these songs were considered good enough to make it on an album, solo or FM. Her songs on the new FM album will be fine - maybe now You can get some sleep and worry less?
DeleteI got a few tears here it brought me back to the belladonna and the wild heart & rock a little days of Stevie. this is what made me fall in love her years ago. Wow and there is a couple hecklers out there thinking that this was not going to come out good. Meaning this Cd, don't you hecklers ever under estimate Stevie!!! This is truly 24 Karat Gold what else should we expect I love it Stevie I Can't Wait I Can't Wait !!!
ReplyDeleteSO PERFECT! I love how the song opens with just the bass, and then the drums kick-in, and then everything else! The piano sounds great with the guitars, and the meandering, story-like lyrics are classic Nicks! Her voice sounds wonderful! Lots of expressive emotion here, her famous fast vibrato purring, and her voice emoting in a way I haven't heard since the title track of "Trouble in Shangri La." It sets the mood for the album, much like the title tracks to "Bella Donna," "The Wild Heart," and the already mentioned, "TISL." The meandering, story-like lyrics are classic Nicks! Waddy's guitar work weaves in and out...I LOVE this track!! THANKS DAVE!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteJust played the 4 full songs we have so far one after the other on an amazing stereo system and...amazing!
ReplyDeleteSounds great and each plays off the others so well.
Doesn't matter if this album hits or misses at radio or sales...this is a gift to us who have followed her for 1 year or in my case, 35 years.
She makes more money touring and from residuals of her song-writing so she just didn't need to do this project at all. The fact that she did makes this release a gift to us...her "thank you" to the fans.
Wow. I got chills.
ReplyDeleteThis song is a total keeper. The demo was blah. I didn't even want it or Starshine to be on the album. Now, these songs are my two favorites. I have liked every song that has been released from this album. Can't wait to hear the rest.
ReplyDeleteAn instant classic from Stevie, She taking me back in time so much like belladonna, the wild heart and rock a little days. the first take gave me a few tears. it just brought me back to those days. Thank you Stevie,Dave and Waddy
ReplyDeleteLady is still my favorite but this is good. I wouldn't worry about which song would do better on the radio - I don't think the radio stations will play anything new from her any more regardless of how good it is. I've been told they're not interested. I don't get it. Play Landslide or Rhiannon a few less times and throw in this song or Lady. You know? They are only interested in the new "artists" and play them all day. They do play Stevie and FM but only the big songs from the 70's. They are not interested in anything new. But I will keep requesting . . .
ReplyDeleteGolden wings in the sunset.... This is the Stevie that I wanted....that kind of freedom...
ReplyDeleteI love this too!!! This and CATHOUSE BLUES - won over!!!!
ReplyDeleteNeed more of these type of songs to be produced. Most definitely. This is the one that I like the most so far. Classic Stevie, magical. For sure.
ReplyDeleteStevie management, don't let this one go out into the world without a video. Seriously!
ReplyDeleteUmm. This is the best song I've heard from Stevie since Stand Back. What just happened here? Un-freakin-believable!!!!!!! I'm... I'm speechless
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love the production, Stevie's voice and overall mood of this song, I just wish there was some more "meat" to it, specifically, some kind of a grand chorus/refrain that becomes the song's main focal point. As it is now, it seems like there is a lot of build up, but no climactic pay-off. Even a bridge would have helped.
ReplyDeleteI second what Jay said. This track captures everything I love about Stevie's music.
ReplyDeleteI have been the asshole - increasingly censored - who hated this project from day 1.
ReplyDeleteI apologize. I really do. You guys heard it and I didn't. Why I don't know (food for thought).
I absolutely LOVE THIS!!!!!
Finally I understand the approach and where Stevie's coming from.
This is about roots and memories and songs and....
LOVE IT!!!
Chain-in-chains (is that it? i never have been able to decipher Stevie's lyrics after 34 (?) years of being a fan.
