Congrats to Stevie Nicks 24 Karat Gold enters Billboard Top 200 at No.7 (6th Top 10 Album)

Rock legend Stevie Nicks nets her sixth top 10 solo album, as her quasi-archival release 24 Karat Gold: Songs From the Vault set starts at No. 7 (33,000). It’s her 13th top 10 album (combining Fleetwood Mac and solo releases). The set consists of newly-recorded material that was written and recorded in demo versions in earlier years. 24 Karat Gold follows Nicks' In Your Dreams, which debuted (and peaked) at No. 6 back in 2011 (52,000 sold in its first week).

Wow 33,000 for 7th place. That includes digital downloads??? Why is the record industry in this bad of shape? I doubt piracy has hurt this album, and if anything, those who have any demos would love to buy the album.

Congrats to Stevie!!!!! This is definitely very much deserved. Here's hoping it sells well for at least a few more weeks. I would have to point out, though, I saw a lot of comments from people expressing disappointment that Warner Bros didn't print more copies of the special edition bundles. It's hard to get people to buy albums these days; throw some special edition stuff (like lithos and a photobook) and people will shell out the money.

When you factor in streaming sites like Beats and Spotify, this is a very strong showing for the first week.
People just don't buy music the way they used to.
I stream most of what I listen to on an annual subscription to Beats music. (Although I did buy this album).

When I heard clips of the tracks before the release, I admit, I wasn't very excited. After listening to the cd with better quality sound, I have to say, this is my favorite Stevie record since Wild Heart. Just like lots of the reviews I've read that say what's so remarkable is that is sounds so vintage but relevant. I AGREE! This cd needs more advertisement. I know some people like Cathouse Blues because it's so different. I really think it's completely out of place on this record. Take that track out and the track listing/order of the deluxe version is great. The biggest disappointment for me (FOR ME-so don't say hateful things) is 'Blue Water.' The demo is one of my favorite Stevie performances ever. I don't care for this version's vocal, arrangement or slick production. It tries too hard to have a soul, but it's lost. I will now dream of the day when Lindsey will produce a version and it will be on a Fleetwood Mac record. Hey, it could happen. We never thought we'd see this compilation on record. Again, I LOVE this record!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone know if they are selling the cd at merch tables at the Fleetwood Mac shows? Hopefully, with the good reviews, they'll do more advertising of 24 KG and it will sell well during the holiday season.

Hey that's great! It is hard to get to the fans these days when everyone is on different media's and different paths of the same media. It really got no radio play that I know of. Ya there are fans out there that don't live on the computer. People couldn't really just go out and buy it when they heard something they liked cause it wasn't out. They streamed the whole album before it was out could have recorded it off that. I did buy two copies one with litho. Just a diehard Stevie fan.

I didn't see it at merchandise tables in two shows I went to. Not even a mention of the record from the stage. Some great songs on here - just doesn't have the catchy hooks like IYD on some songs. I actually like the lyrics on this record a lot. Listen careful.

To be honest, this debut is neither a great triumph nor a great disaster - it's just about what everyone probably expected. Personally speaking, the excitement levels were much lower with 24K than with IYD given the composition and production processes. Artistically, the results aren't bad, but they're certainly not great. I still can't get over the lackluster production, spotty arrangements and sometimes ill-advised choice of material (10-12 songs max would have been more than enough). That said, it's always nice to have a new Stevie release.

Actually, considering this time around, there was no major single in rotation on radio or lots of talk show performances, etc, 33,000 is pretty damned good! Consider the MASSIVE proting Stevie was doing for "IYD" and that album only sold 17,000 more copies it's first week. The entire music industry is in the crapper. My friend in Austraila told me she downloaded "24" on Torrent a week before the release, including the cover and cd book. Crazy! I guess most people don't pay any longer. I do. I by cd's and purchase from Itunes. Anyhow, this is another top ten album to add to Stevie's hat! That's pretty cool how the internet promos Dave did connected to Stevie's fanbase so well. I LOVE this album. It just is amazing to me! Her voice!! So much expression in her vocals, and the instrumentation is gorgeous! I am in love with this album. Who cares how much it sells? It's for the die-hard fans and that's me!! :-)

I totally agree with you and it amazes me how good all of the musical arrangements are her vocal work are some of the best she is done in years. After many listens I have come to realize that the song 24 karat gold could actually be a huge radio hit. I wish it would catch on because it kind of harkens back to her original style in the 70s.

@ Steve Stevens, I totally agree. it's catchy, has nice hooks, guitars, lyrics and vocals.

I dare to jump in here again as I was attacked the last time when I mentioned that I feared Blue Water would never live up to its demo and I have to say that it is better than I thought it was going to be but the demo is the queen! The demo is absolute perfection and this is just a nice alternative take.

I never cared for the sound quality of the demos, and enjoy the redone material here

John Seger: Its not true that IYD sold 17,000 its first week. It sold 57,000. Was that a typo?
