Stevie Nicks Talks to Access Hollywood about her new album '24 Karat Gold – Songs From The Vault' saying she will eventually tour behind this album indicating she has a little over a year left with Fleetwood Mac, which would put her into Nov/Dec, 2015 - so 2016 would seem to be the year Stevie goes solo.

This makes me wonder just how this current Fleetwood Mac tour will finish up - will there be a full world tour? Will they finish North America, work on "the album", Stevie could then tour for 24K Gold and then the Fleetwood Mac album could be toured. The latter (to me) seems highly unlikely. At this stage I'm happy with what we're getting - John's recovery and Christine's return are both dreams come true for all of us. I can't help but wish that they'd knuckle down as a full band and make another fantastic album together... Time will tell
ReplyDeleteI think Stevie's comment about only having a year left with Fleetwood Mac is confusing. Does she mean forever, or that she wants some solo time after and then may return to the Mac later. They are all getting old and don't have that many years to be Fleetwood Mac. This makes me wonder if there will be time for her to contribute to making the new Mac album. Since they probably will tour Europe and Australia in 2015 after finishing up in the US. It would be nice, but I am not counting on it now that she said this.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure she meant a year left on this current tour. I can't see any possible way that Steve would leave Fleetwood Mac at this point, especially now that Christine is back. She said in the Facebook Q&A yesterday that she has a lot of things she wants to do in the next 10 years so it sure doesn't sound like she plans to stop working any time soon! Despite their ages, they all seem to be miraculously healthy and hearty so who knows how much longer they'll go on? There's a lot of aging rockers out there still going steady. I sometimes don't think I have the energy they seem to and I'm still a few years from 50!
ReplyDeleteIt's not that difficult or time consuming to record a few songs for a new Mac album. My guess is she's already submitted a few demos for consideration. I wouldn't be surprised to hear she either recorded on the road or during their holiday break.
ReplyDeleteI'm also a bit confused. What would be the point in touring behind "24 Karat" in a year or longer from now? Kind of like when the "IYD" movie came 2 years AFTER the album. Lost momentum
ReplyDeleteAnd true that, regarding the fact that there should have already been an "FM" musical. Never thought about that before. But, wouldn't that be an awesome musical for Broadway. And then down the road, a movie based on the play, but played as a drama. SWEET! Anybody agree?
ReplyDeleteMy question, was when was this video made? Then is Stevie saying little over a year from the start of this leg? She's with these guys for a year + and their not playing new music with each other not a good sign. New solo tour YES. 24 Karat Gold II YES. I think she's right with keeping this in the press. I think she will have to do alot of press for her solo tour. Will number II come out before the tour? And a musical would be awesome. I would start with the 5 people in the current line up's songs of youth and build up to the current tour new songs from the road with Christine coming back.
ReplyDeleteIYD is one of my favorite albums and the DVD is just amazing!! I will never tire of this album. It hasn't lost its momentum with me. My 7 year old ADORES it. Stevie said she had 3 months off and didn't want to just sit around before the tour. She has so much she wants to do. Stevie knows what she is doing. She knew when she made 24k Gold that it wouldn't be promoted on tour immediately. I don't think its all about the money for her, I look at it as a wonderful gift she is giving to her fans and I thank her for that. <3
ReplyDeleteStevie & friends are making tons of $$. The grosses from this world tour may very well be the biggest ever. They have also learned to make $$ well and not fragrantly waste money like they have in past with outrageous bloated staffs. But they still travel well. Just within reason. Touring is the only way any rock star makes $$ anymore & a worthy back catalogue. They can't tour forever. So tour smart. Stevie is into art & a good record and having fun. She knows radio play no longer exists. Who listens to radio?
ReplyDeleteAs far as a musical, Stevie is right again. They would have to get it right. They have the material alright and a great story. But, I've seen tons of Broadway musicals, and even though a potential blockbuster is produced, if it isn't right, it flops. I would hate that to happen to FM. It costs millions to produce a big musical - and have seen many where a potential huge show opens and closes really quick, losing tons of money because it wasn't right. Casting is also an issue. People aren't always open to someone else portraying someone they love on stage. They would need a cast we would accept, or it will fail. I would love it though if done right. And I do think Stevie will contribute to a new album with FM and that will see them out on the road through next year. When she seems confusing I think it's because plans aren't definite. Just also very thankful for THIS tour which we never thought would happen.
ReplyDeleteThe "IYD" documentary film hasn't lost it's momentum with me either. I was talking about the general public, not her cult fans. The movie could have been a great cross-promotional tool for the album, if it was released while there was still a bit of buzz, regarding the album. Just an observation, IMO.
ReplyDeletePS I LOOOVE "24 Karat Gold." I love every song. It's such a return to form rock and roll album!
