Stevie Nicks is thrilled to be on tour again with Fleetwood Mac and singer/keyboardist Christine McVie. But she sounds daunted by the band’s schedule, which brings them back to the Twin Cities this week.
Stevie Nicks sounds exhilarated and exhausted.
She’s thrilled to be on tour again with Fleetwood Mac and singer/keyboardist Christine McVie, who has rejoined after a 16-year retirement. But she sounds daunted by the band’s schedule: 40 shows last fall, and now 40 more North American concerts, 20-some gigs in Europe and then possibly a tour of Australia.
“That is four shows a week, three hours a show. We are all over 65. That was a very difficult tour,” said Nicks, whose band launched its On With the Show Tour in Minneapolis in September, and returns Friday to kick off the second leg of the tour at St. Paul’s Xcel Energy Center.
“It’s not like you the watcher aren’t going to think, ‘They are great and they are strong and they are athletic.’ But we hobble back to our rooms after the show is over and hot water bottles are being filled and everyone is going, ‘I don’t think I’ll make it to the end of the week.’ ”

Don't want to be cruel for wanting more, but we love you Stevie! Seen this tour On With the Show in Anaheim, CA. Saw the 2013 FM show twice and saw the solo IYD tour twice. Loved seeing you at The Grove in Anaheim. Not a big fan of the massive arenas unless they are outdoors. If you need a bigger arena on your next tour may I suggest Irvine Meadows in Irvine, CA? Would love a solo tour for 24KG. Love, love, love the album! Keep up the good work!
Hey Hey I saw them in Anaheim too. I'm thinking when they were young they beat themselves up and now that their older their still beating themselves up. Really isn't there a way to tour that would be less grueling more conducive to human life forms?
You guys rocked the house tonight in St. Paul! Lindsay ruled the stage with that guitar, Stevie's vocals were the best I've heard in years, Christine was great in her role as "our songbird", John was quiet as ever but dominated the bass, and Mick was awesome on the drums even though he wasn't feeling well before the concert. I know you tell us that "we love you guys", but you have to know that you made the thousands of us there tonight feel on top of the world, and We Love YOU! Big thanks to Mick for drawing from our "fan strength" in the universe to come out with such a strong performance. We can't wait to see more...
