Fleetwood Mac Rumours
Released February 4, 1977
Four singles were released in the US, the first being Go Your Own Way in December, 1976 followed by Dreams in March, 1977, Don't Stop in June, 1977 and You Make Loving Fun in September, 1977. All four singles reached the top 10 with Dreams going all the way to No.1, the bands first and only US No.1.
The album debuted on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart at No. 10 on February 26, 1977 and reached No.1 six weeks later on April 2, 1977. For the rest of 1977 the album was either in the No.1, No.2 or No.3 position on the charts racking up a total of 31 non-consecutive weeks at No.1 between April 2, 1977 and January 14, 1978. The album remained in the top 10 for literally a year dropping to No.12 on February 25, 1978. It would go on to spend the rest of 1978 and part of 1979 on the albums chart dropping off the chart entirely in April, 1979 only to re-enter in November, 1979 for a few weeks. Incredible run for an album.
To date the album has been certified 20X Platinum by the RIAA having sold 20 million units in the US with a reported total of over 45 million albums sold world wide.
