Fleetwood Mac Charts A Top 10 Hit In America Once Again

Fleetwood Mac can always be found on several Billboard charts. Every week, the band appears on a number of lists of the bestselling and top-performing albums in the country. This time around, in addition to their successful full-lengths, one of the group’s most popular songs is present on one tally…and it’s given them a big hit once again.

“Dreams” rises one rung on the Rock Streaming Songs chart this week. The tune now sits at No. 10 on Billboard’s list of the most-streamed cuts in the U.S. that can be classified as “rock” when it comes to genre.

It’s not odd for a legacy act to see their most successful albums and compilations find space on the Billboard charts…but the same can’t be said for songs. Typically, singles have a shorter shelf life in the U.S. than full-lengths. While it’s not unheard of for a decades-old track to continue to chart, it’s also not common.

“Dreams” has thus far spent 228 weeks on the Rock Streaming Songs chart. The tune once climbed all the way to No. 1 in late 2020, when it went viral and became a smash all over again.

So far, “Dreams” stands as Fleetwood Mac’s only No. 1 on the streaming chart that focuses solely on rock. It’s one of the band’s two top 10s, as “The Chain” peaked at No. 5. Despite having a catalog filled with beloved titles, the band has only sent a trio of tunes to this roster. “Landslide” fills out their three wins, as it previously topped out at No. 14.

This week, “Dreams” is the only new entrant inside the top 10 on the Rock Streaming Songs chart. The other nine tracks that appear within the highest tier on the tally were already present in the region last frame, though there is some movement among the hits.

This week, Fleetwood Mac also appears on at least six other Billboard charts. The band’s masterpiece Rumours is falling on every list it carves out space on, though it’s not down by much on any of them. Their Greatest Hits compilation can also be found on several rosters, though not as many as Rumours.

Fleetwood Mac Albums / Singles Chart Updates

This week on the charts, after peaking last week in the US at #12 Dreams slides to #21 and the album Rumours slides down to #14 from #7 the previous week. 

In Canada Rumours remains in the Top 10 down two places to #7. Dreams is still in the Top 20 down to #18 from #9 last week. 

In the UK, Dreams also drops on the singles chart to #40 after peaking at #35. Rumours remains at #20 and 50 Years - Don't Stop drops out of the Top 10 down to 15.  

In Ireleand, Dreams peaked at #24 and moves down four places to #28 this week. Rumours and 50 Years - Don't Stop remain in the Top 10 on the albums charts, both are down slightly from last week.

In Australia Dreams is still in the Top 10 at #7 this week, down two places from #5 last week.  Rumours drops to #12 from #9 last week. In New Zealand, Rumours is still a Top 10 album moving up to #6 from #7 last week.

FLEETWOOD MAC ALBUMS CHART UPDATES - US, UK AU & NZ

Fleetwood Mac makes some significant moves on the albums and singles chart in these selected countries.

 

AUSTRALIA

Fleetwood Mac's 'Dreams' enters the Top 10 in Australia for the first time jumping 10 spots this week to number 4 from number 14 last week.  'Rumours' climbs up the Top 100 albums chart to number 11 from number 17 last week.

NEW ZEALAND

'Dreams' remains in the Top 40 in New Zealand on the singles chart moving up 4 spots this week to number 6 from number 10.  'Rumours' jumps into the Top 10 at number 6 this week up from number 10 last week on the Top 40 Albums chart.

UK 

In it's 100th week on the UK Top 100 albums chart, Fleetwood Mac's "50 YEARS - DON'T STOP" climbs back into the UK Top 10 at number 10 this week up from number 17 last week.

-  69 weeks in the top 20
-  14 weeks in the top 10

'Rumours' moves up to number 18 from number 22. 

Finally, Fleetwood Mac’s Dreams re-enters the Official Singles Chart Top 40 for the first time since 1977, climbing 18 places to Number 37. The feat follows a surge in streams and downloads following the viral TikTok video of user Doggface208 skating to the track while drinking cranberry juice. Mick Fleetwood and Stevie Nicks have each since responded with their own TikToks paying homage to the clip.

Dreams only peaked at Number 24 upon its original release in August 1977, however its success has endured over the years, racking up just shy of 100 million streams in the UK since streaming was introduced in 2014.

Dreams is Fleetwood Mac’s first UK Top 40 entry in seven years. In 2013, their 1988 hit Everywhere re-entered the Top 40 at Number 15 following its use in a TV advert.

IRELAND

In IRELAND Fleetwood Mac’s discography is being streamed strong, leading to a new peak for the band’s 2018 box set '50 Years – Don’t Stop'. Peaking at #5 previously, the collection advances to #4 this week. 'Rumours' returns to the Top 10, climbing to #6. 

USA / CANADA

Fleetwood Mac's 'Rumours' is the "greatest gainer" this week on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart dated October 17, 2020 as it explodes in sales and jumps up the Top 200 albums chart to number 13 from number 27 last week as a result of Nathan Apodaca’s viral TikTok video featuring 'Dreams'. The last time the album was this high on the charts was back in May, 2011 when the entire 'Rumours' album was featured in the Glee episode and it reached number 11.

The 1988 Greatest Hits release also sees a major boost on the chart, jumping up to number 61 this week from number 103 last week.

DREAMS ROCKETS UP THE BILLBOARD HOT 100

'Dreams' re-enters the Billboard Top 100 singles chart at number 21 this week based on sales, streams and radio play. The song took off following Nathan Apodaca’s viral TikTok video flying up the iTunes and Spotify song charts. The song is currently No.1 on iTunes in the US and has been for a number of days.  This is the first time the song has been on the Hot 100 since August, 1977!

The Alternate Rumours limited edition vinyl album released for Record Store Day on September 26th enters the Billboard Top 200 at #164 on sales of 7,000 unit.

Fleetwood Mac UK and Ireland Album Charts Update

Fleetwood Mac soldiers on in the UK on the Top 100 albums chart. "50 Years - Don't Stop", now in it's 84th week in the Top 100, is currently at No.11 down from No.9 last week.  The 50 track compilation was released in November, 2018.

Rumours in this latest 172 week chart run of it's 884 overall weeks within the Top 100 since it's release is still within the Top 20 after re-entering seven weeks ago. This week the album is down to No.17 from No.14. On Vinyl, Rumours is at No.7, down from No.5 last week on the Top 40 Vinyl Albums Chart.

In Ireland, 50 Years - Don't Stop is up to No.9 from No.10 and Rumours up to No.15 from No.18 on the Top 50 Albums chart. 

In the US, Rumours is at No.70 on the Billboard Top 200 up from No.75 last week.

In Canada, Rumours is at No.50 on the Top 100 Albums Chart up from No.55 last week.

Album Chart Update: It's all about Fleetwood Mac's Rumours

Interesting week on the Album Charts... Typically "Rumours" isn't so alone.  With the exception of Australia, the album is everywhere.

In the UK "Rumours" moves up the Top 100 Albums Chart this week to No.59 after re-entering last week at No.79.

In Ireland the album also moves up the Top 100 Albums Chart to No.47 from No.56 last week.

In it's sixth week back on the US Billboard Top 200 Album Chart "Rumours" continues to move down sitting at No.178 this week.

In Australia "Rumours" re-enters this weeks Top 100 Chart at No.61 and landed in the top 10 on the Top 50 Catalogue Chart re-entering at No.8.  The only other Fleetwood Mac album on the Catalogue Chart is "The Very Best Of" which remains static at No.31.

Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours" spends 4th week on Billboard Top 200

The 1977 album re-entered the Billboard Top 200 albums chart on July 12th at No.139 moving all the way up to No.99 on the July 19, 2014 chart - then falling back down to No.135 on the chart dated July 24, 2014.  This week the album continues to move down ending the July 20th sales period at No.143.  An interesting note is that 37 years ago this week the album was No.1 in the U.S. for the 12th non-consecutive week.  The album also moves down slightly on the top 50 catalogue chart to No.25.

In the UK, the album never seems to leave the catalogue sales chart. This week it moves down to No.23 from No.20 last week.

In Australia, 1988's Greatest Hits and 2002's 2-CD The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac continue to be the albums of choice for Australians.  Greatest Hits moves down to No.76 with The Very Best Of moving up to No.78 from No.82 last week.  The Dance DVD re-enters the Top 40 DVD Music Chart this week. In Ireland Rumours re-enters the top 100 at No.89 with The Very Best Of moving down to No.85.

Fleetwood Mac Album Charts Update: USA, Australia, UK and Ireland

Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, in it's third week back on the Top 200 Albums Chart in the U.S., takes a dip sliding from No.99 last week to No.135 on the chart dated July 24, 2014.  Over on the Top 50 Catalogue Albums Chart the album also moves down to No.23 from No.18 last week.

In Ireland, "Rumours" re-enters the Top 100 Albums Chart at No.90. with "The Very Best Of" moving up to No.60 from No.80 last week.  In Australia it's all about 1988's "Greatest Hits" with the album moving up to No.44 this week on the Top 100 albums chart after re-entering the chart last week at No.98.  On the Top 40 Digital Charts, the album is up 19 places to No.19. On the Top 50 Catalogue Albums Chart the album moves up substantially all the way to No.3 from No.25 last week.  Sales are a bit flat on "The Very Best Of" with a slight move down on the top 100 chart to No.82 from No.78 last week.
