GLEE Season 2 Vol 2 DVD Release includes Stevie Nicks Featurette "Stevie Nicks Goes Glee"

The 2011 official Glee tour ended a couple of weeks ago, and with The Glee Project underwhelming, what’s a Gleek to do? With only 5 of 22 episodes from Season 2 available online, it seems like your best option is to wait for the Glee Season 2 DVD and Blu-ray release, which will street on September 13th.

I know it’s a while to wait, but those who are patient are likely to be happy with all of the extras coming with the Fox Home Entertainment set. Several featurettes will come with the episodes, including “Getting Waxed With Jane Lynch,” “Stevie Nicks Goes Glee,” “Shooting Glee in New York City,” two segments about Brittany, and a portrayal of the Glee experience at Comic Con 2010. Other extras will include “The Making of The Rocky Horror Glee Show,” “Santana’s Slams,” “Sue’s Quips,” an exclusive bonus song, a set-building extra, and the Glee Music Jukebox. Though it looks like Fox put a lot of attention into its special features, most of these are a rehashing of Glee: Season 2, Volume 1.

"Rockers return to top of charts" "Fleetwood Mac gleefully push straight to the top"

Rumours fly for Fleetwood Mac, 34 years on.
TheAge.au - May 24th

This is not a rumour: Fleetwood Mac is back
The Australian - May 24th

SYDNEY: Legendary rockers Fleetwood Mac have made a shock return to the Australian music charts, with their highest-selling record Rumours re-emerging at number two on the albums chart, 34 years after its original release.

The surprise comeback follows the Australian premiere of a Fleetwood Macinspired episode of the musical drama Glee, which aired on Network Ten last Wednesday night.

The Grammy Awardwinning album has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide since its release in 1977, and has been certified thirteen-times platinum in Australia.

It is the first time in more than a year the album has featured on the ARIA charts.
But one of the group’s singers Stevie Nicks has not seen as much success with her solo album In Your Dreams, which hangs back at number 32, a week after its debut.

Fleetwood Mac gleefully push straight to the top
The Daily Telegraph (Sydney) - May 24th

FLEETWOOD Mac’s Rumours album was propelled back into the Australian top 10 this week some 34 years after its release, thanks to the Glee effect.

Thousands of digital copies of the record were downloaded as an episode which featured songs from the 1977 record aired on Wednesday.

"People were buying it even before the episode aired thanks to the promos which featured one of the lead characters singing Go Your Own Way," a chart analyst said. The cover of that song entered the ARIA singles chart at No. 32. But the original Rumours album, featuring Stevie Nicks, came in at No. 2, almost knocking Adele’s 21 off the top spot.

SOUND OFF: GLEE Dreams & Fleetwood Mac RUMOURS

Last night GLEE took on the catalogue of Fleetwood Mac - namely, their 1977 Grammy-winning Album of the Year, RUMOURS and proved that you can do justice to the originals - as inimitable as they may be - but still go your own way with them. And, have your own way. Also, Broadway baby Kristin Chenoweth made her long-awaited return as boozy April Rhodes just in time to duet with Matt Morrison on the Stevie Nicks-penned classic "Dreams" and a few of the secondary leads - namely Santana, Artie and Quinn - got a chance to shine with these silvery takes on the solid gold classic rock tracks. While some of the tribute shows have been hit-or-miss in the past, Fleetwood Mac and the self-avowed queen gleek herself, Stevie Nicks - who was on set for Gwyneth Paltrow's taping of "Landslide" earlier this year, cheering the cast on - surely won't be digging an early grave with her silver spoon after hearing and seeing these sensitive and respectful takes on her tunes - and Lindsey Buckingham‘s and Christine McVie‘s, as well. But, I guess if anyone in the group has an issue with any of these covers, they can always cast a spell using some white witches and black magic. Speaking of which - or witch - too bad they didn't do "Gold Dust Woman" or "Silver Springs"! And, no cover of "The Chain"? But, I suppose they're saving them for "Rumours: Part 2" or, perhaps, an all-Stevie Nicks episode - particularly if it happened to feature songs from her splendid new album, IN YOUR DREAMS, which is out this week (her first new album this decade). So, break out your feathers, rings, and shawls, we've got all the gypsy magic you can handle inside thanks to the ever-revolving door of the ever-evolving cast of GLEE paying due respect to the similarly designed/aligned folk/rock super-group of the 70s making their momentous musical marriage somehow oh-so-apropos to the times, no?

STEVIE NICKS SONG FINDS NEW GENERATION...

THE "LANDSLIDE" EFFECT

GLEE's version of Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide" is all over the place on various itunes charts in multiple countries.  The Stevie Nicks song which originally appeared on the 1975 Fleetwood Mac album titled "Fleetwood Mac" was never a single back in the day in it's original form, but since 1975 it was a hit for Fleetwood Mac as a live cut in 1997/98 from their live album "The Dance" and The Dixie Chicks made it a monster hit in 2002 (which is actually the version that Glee is covering here).  It's the little song that just goes on and on.  In my mind it doesn't matter who sings it... It's a beautiful contemplative song!

Like I said, Fleetwood Mac's original 1975 version of "Landslide" was never released as a single. The group pulled three top 20 hits from its smash Fleetwood Mac album and then moved on to Rumours, which quickly became one of the best-selling albums of all time. (The group finally released a live version of "Landslide" from The Dance in 1998.) Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide" has sold 849K digital copies (and returns to Hot Digital Songs this week at #175). Dixie Chicks' 2002 cover version reached #7 on the Hot 100. It has sold 620K digital copies (and also returns to Hot Digital Songs this week at #114).

BILLBOARD MAGAZINE
Glee's version of Landslide will enter the Billboard Magazine Top 100 this week at #23 making it the charts Hot Shot Debut.  The casts version of the song sold 115,000 downloads in it's first week of availability.  It also increased sales for The Dixie Chicks version for the week moving 17,000 copies of their version up 897%.  Fleetwood Mac's original 1975 version moved 11,000 copies up 252% and The Smashing Pumpkins cover moved 1,000 up 151%.  Impressive!

Episode Centered Around Fleetwood Mac's Rumours

'Glee' scoop:
Entertainment Weekly
Deadline Hollywood

GLEE creator Ryan Murphy told reporters last night in Los Angeles that the plan in the near future is to center an episode around Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 album Rumours.  Murphy says the show’s creators have long wanted to do an episode devoted to an album as opposed to an artist, and their wish has come true: Glee has been granted the rights to Fleetwood Mac’s legendary album, “Rumors,” so that episode is in the works.

March 8th:
GLEE: The Music Volume 5 album is released on Tuesday.  A cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide" is included on the album sung by Gwyneth Paltrow.  The Fox show will broadcast March 8th.

Stevie Nicks Visits The Set Of "Glee"!

Legendary rocker Stevie Nicks visited the set of "Glee" Tuesday, TooFab has exclusively confirmed--but don't expect to see her the show quite yet.

"Steve Nicks visited the set yesterday," her rep told TooFab Wednesday, "but she is not 'on the show.'"

But that doesn't mean Nicks isn't up for a cameo. "We can of course hope and dream of a day when that could happen," adds her rep.

Nicks, who performs with Fleetwood Mac and had a successful solo career of her own, stopped by the studio yesterday, while guest stars Gwyneth Paltrow and John Stamos were also on-set.

The show's cast members were definitely thrilled to have Nicks there: After filming, Dianna Agron ("Quinn") tweeted "Gwyneth Paltrow and Stevie Nicks. Wonderful and unexpected day" with co-star Ashley Fink ("Lauren Zizes") tweeting, "Paltrow, Stamos, Stevie Nicks ... Pinch me."

Paltrow and the gang are rumored to sing "Landslide" during an upcoming episode.

"Glee''s Dianna Agron on the Guest Star Who Brought Her to Tears

"We had the pleasure of Stevie Nicks being on set yesterday," Agron said on Wednesday. "And she kind of made us all cry because she came and she said, 'If I hadn't been a musician, I would have been a teacher. And I would've hoped to send this message to kids --that although there are very important things like math and science and learning, you know, kind of the things that get you through life, there's also you need to find joy. And whether that's through music or dance or things like that, you need to have outlets in your life.'"
