"Whenever I play ‘Stand Back’ from this day forward, Prince will be standing next to me."

“I'm hoping that this will be as much fun for the audience as it's gonna be for me,” Stevie Nicks tells Billboard about her just-announced 24 Karat Gold Tour. The two-month trek -- launching Oct. 25 in Phoenix, with the Pretenders opening -- supports her 2014 effort 24 Karat Gold: Songs From the Vault, which marked her sixth top 10 album on the Billboard 200 chart.

The album was comprised of tracks Nicks had written and made demo recordings for decades ago but had never been included on any of her previous albums. Then, in 2014, she and producer Dave Stewart headed to Nashville with the demos and recorded entirely new versions of the songs to produce 24 Karat Gold. “I think this [tour] is going to be great,” Nicks says. “I think that all the fans are gonna have a ball. And I hope that they totally just dress up -- as Wendy Williams would say, 'Dress to the nines.' And come to party, and sing.”

Nicks says the setlist for the tour is still being shaped (it’s “about at 30 songs right now”) but will feature songs from 24 Karat Gold and possibly title cuts from some of her older albums, like “Bella Donna,” “Wild Heart” and “Trouble in Shangri-La.” She wants the show to “have its little explosions of fun” from the various parts of her career. Nicks also gives a hint to fans: “You know what, you might want to come to two shows, because you never know: There might be an alternative [set]list.”

It’s likely that familiar favorites like “Edge of Seventeen” and “Stand Back” will both turn up in the setlist, and for Nicks, “Stand Back” has a new emotional weight. The track was “written to” Prince’s “Little Red Corvette,” and she’s “brokenhearted” that she was never able to have him share the stage with her on the song. “Had I ever in a million years thought that we would lose him,” Nicks says, “I would have made sure that that would have happened. And it didn't. So that's just one of those things in your life where you so say, 'I really missed out.' Because he should have. That should have happened. So whenever I play ‘Stand Back’ from this day forward, Prince will be standing next to me. That is always going to be a joy.”

Dave Grohl's American rock documentary Sound City set to make UK TV debut on BBC Four

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl's documentary about Los Angeles' notorious Sound City will make its UK TV debut this month.

The rock legend, who was also a member of band Nirvana, directs, produces and appears in the feature length documentary about the history of American Rock.

It looks at some of the famous faces who called the shabby studio their second home, building some of the strongest careers in rock music.

Some of the albums created there include Nirvana's Nevermind, Neil Young’s After the Gold Rush, Fleetwood Mac’s eponymous album and Johnny Cash’s Unchained.

And through interviews, photos and video footage, Dave shows us how Mick Fleetwood met Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, leading to them joining Fleetwood Mac.

Looking at the rise of digital editing, he also discovers exactly why Butch Vig, Frank Black, Trent Reznor and Lars Ulrich all chose to work in an analogue environment.

The film ends when Dave brings some of the great names together at his Studio 606 to record a new album on the original Sound City Neve console.

It culminates in new performances from Rick Springfield, Stevie Nicks, Lee Ving, Josh Homme, Trent Reznor, Krist Novoselic and Sir Paul McCartney.

The documentary had a one-off screening in the UK in February last year.

Sound City will air on Friday, January 31, at 10:15pm BBC Four.

Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks on music, Game of Thrones and her relationship with Prince

Fleetwood Mac have been touring for much of the year - how's it been?

"Great. But the last 15 shows in America were particularly gruelling. Shows got added so the routing was difficult - you're in Canada, then you're in Dallas, then you're in Florida, then Portland. So it was very hard.

"We'd fly after the show most nights, a two-hour flight, then the drive to and from the airport. We all got terribly jet-lagged. But for me, it's not such a big deal 'cause I stay up really late every night anyway. But for Lindsey [Buckingham] and Mick [Fleetwood] and John [McVie], they don't stay up late - they go back to their rooms and go to sleep.'"

This is the first Fleetwood Mac tour since 2009…

"At the beginning of 2012 I told everyone I wouldn't tour with the band that year, because I wanted to give [2011 solo album] In Your Dreams another year, because I thought it deserved it. And because I thought Fleetwood Mac should stay off the grid for three years.

"It's a good idea; it's just smart to keep us out of the spotlight for three years. Everyone went along with it. And now they all know it was really a great idea - because we were gone long enough that it was us coming back.

"I told the press last year that 2013 was going to be the year of Fleetwood Mac. And I was just hoping with all my heart that this big statement was gonna come true!"

The band released an iTunes EP earlier this year, which was recorded just after your mother died. Was that a difficult time for you?

"I didn't go [to the studio]. I didn't want to go. But it wasn't just that - I didn't want to go anywhere. I didn't leave the house for almost five months.

"I worked on the edit of my documentary about the making of In Your Dreams. And then I got pneumonia. With my pneumonia and my mother's death I watched the entire first season of Game Of Thrones - so that was great! That certainly took my mind off everything."
