NICKS TELLS AUDIENCE SHE'S HALF WAY THROUGH NEW ALBUM & LANDSLIDE DEDICATION

Stevie Nicks played the first of her "not a tour, tour," at the Santa Barbara Bowl. She performed 15 songs, including Dreams, Rhiannon, Gold Dust Woman, Edge of Seventeen and Landslide, which she dedicated to Cecilia, an year-old family friend battling cancer. Stevie mentioned the young girl several times during the evening and proceeds from her show at Santa Barbara are going toward her escalating medical costs.

Stevie Nicks was in terrific form and mentioned that she was half-way through a new album. Her band was led by her long-time musical director and friend Waddy Wachtel, who drove her 9 member band through an energetic performance. The night also included several covers: Rock & Roll, You Wreck Me and Face the Promise, by Zeppelin, Petty and Seger, respectively.

She's only supposed to be doing six shows, but you never know...

Two BIG Surprises of the night at Stevie's first show... Covering Tom Petty's "You Wreck Me" a song she's never done before... And ending the the night with "Love Is" a song from Trouble in Shangri-La that also has never before been performed live.

But... the over all feeling is that given the set is short and the vastness of Stevie's own catalog of material, 

there are too many covers in the set.

MIA DYSON WILL APPEAR AT HARVEY'S OPENING FOR STEVIE NICKS

Mia Dyson has been added as the opening act for Stevie Nicks in Lake Tahoe (Aug 6th). It's the second show for Mia backing up Stevie - the first being August 4th in Santa Barbara.

Well, we did, anyway. We just see Stevie Nicks and we feel the need to be a bit bolder, have more attitude, with or without the twirling scarves and scrunchy boots.

Not sure that we've gained any scrunchy-boot-a-tude over the last year, but we'll all get another chance to see the masterful singer at work. Ms. Nicks is headed for the Santa Barbara Bowl on Wednesday, Aug. 4. It's her only California date listed (though she'll soon be nearby in Nevada on Friday, Aug. 6), and the Independent says Ms. Nicks is donating her take for the night to a young friend who has cancer.

This is the magical Ms. Nicks we're talking about here. And that magic doesn't come solely from extravagant costumes or a cavalcade of #1 hits.
