TAMPA - Singer and songwriter Stevie Nicks brings her show to the Ford Amphitheatre on Sunday, June 8, 7:30 p.m.
Famed for her mystical chanteuse image, Nicks enjoyed phenomenal success not only as a solo artist but also as a key member of Fleetwood Mac.
During her senior year in High School, Nicks met fellow student Lindsey Buckingham, with whom she formed the band Fritz. Between 1968 and 1971, the group became a popular attraction on the West Coast music scene, opening for Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Creedence Clearwater Revival
After moving to Los Angeles, the duo recorded their 1973 debut LP, Buckingham-Nicks. Despite a cover which featured the couple nude, the album flopped; however, it caught the attention of the members of Fleetwood Mac, who invited Buckingham and Nicks to join their ranks.
In quick time, the revitalized group achieved unparalled success: after the LP Fleetwood Mac topped the charts, they recorded Rumours, which sold over 17 million copies and stood for several years as the best-selling album of all-time.
Major hit singles like "Dreams" and "Rhiannon" made Nicks a focal point of Fleetwood Mac, and she took time off from the group to record her solo debut, Bella Donna, which hit Number One on the strength of the Top 20 hits "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" (a duet with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers), "Leather and Lace" (a duet with Don Henley) and "Edge of Seventeen (Just Like the White Winged Dove)." Over the following years to the present, Nicks continued to record with Fleetwood Mac as well as establishing a strong solo career.
Tickets are $125, $75, $55, $35 and $25 and available at the box office, online at www.livenation.com, at all Ticketmaster locations, including FYE and Spec's Music. To charge by phone, call 727-898-2100 or 813-287-8844.

Happy 25th US Festival!
This Memorial Day weekend, one of the cornerstones of today's festival scene celebrates its silver anniversary. Flush with the first wave of personal computing fortunes, Apple's Steve Wozniak financed and played ringleader at two massive music festivals and technology expositions. The first took place over Labor Day weekend 1982 and included The Police, Gang of Four, The Ramones, The Cars, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Fleetwood Mac and a breakfast set by The Grateful Dead. Anyone who'd missed the inaugural bash wanted in the next year, which would sadly be the last US Festival.
Wozniak paid for the construction of a new open-air venue and state-of-the-art stage at Glen Helen Regional Park in San Bernardino, California. Saturday, May 28, 1983 (New Wave Day) featured Oingo Boingo, Stray Cats, Divinyls, Wall of Voodoo, The English Beat, Men At Work, INXS and a headlining set from The Clash, which would be Mick Jones' last appearance with the band. Sunday, May 29 (Heavy Metal Day) featured Mötley Crüe, Quiet Riot, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Triumph, The Scorpions and was headlined by Van Halen, who received a then staggering $1.5 million to appear. Monday, May 30 (Rock Day) included Little Steven & The Disciples of Soul, Los Lobos, Berlin, Quarterflash, U2, The Pretenders, Missing Persons, Joe Walsh, Stevie Nicks and headliner David Bowie. A separate Country Day followed the next weekend with Ricky Skaggs, Hank Williams Jr., Emmylou Harris, Alabama, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson at the top of the bill.
Each weekend was attended by several hundred thousand people (estimates vary wildly but agree at least 300,000 folks showed up to the second US Festival) but were crushing financial disasters. Wozniak lost an estimated $20 million combined for the two events. Still, for those who participated it was unbelievably special and remarkably peaceful. The sheer audacity of the scale of everything was overwhelming and delightful, a shared piece of history that one felt unfolding right in the moment.
Stevie's set that night consisted of an assortment of tunes from Fleetwood Mac along with new stuff that hadn't even been released yet, namely Stand Back.
Here's a link to download the first song she performed that night. Gold Dust Woman. AVI File size is 58mb.

Mick Fleetwood's Uncorked!
Fleetwood Wine and Music Extravaganza
Tuesday, 20 May 2008
Melodika.net
Mick Fleetwood, the iconic co-founder of Fleetwood Mac, is celebrating his blues heritage by hitting the road with his new band, The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band. The band is appearing in 17 major cities across the US beginning this spring. The series of concerts features a tribute to the original Fleetwood Mac, the all-male blues band that started it all in 1967
Each night of the tour also features a VIP reception where attendees will sample Mick’s fine wine, Mick Fleetwood Private Cellar. Tickets for the tour are available soon.
Bringing together four stellar Blues and Rock musicians, Mick Fleetwood presents a band that is as current as it is nostalgic.
At the front of the group, is Rick Vito, veteran Bluesman and former Fleetwood Mac vocalist and lead guitarist. Rick adds his personal touch while staying true to the styling of early Fleetwood Mac front man Peter Green. “A lot of guys can play the licks but Rick has the tone and that’s so important in real blues,” says Mick Fleetwood.
With Fleetwood anchoring the band on percussion, the “other half” of the rhythm section is Lenny Castellanos on bass guitar. As Mick points out, “I’ve played with John McVie for 40 years, any bassist who plays with me has big shoes to fill.” – Lenny does a great job filling those shoes while complimenting Mick’s unique and revered drum style.
Mark Johnstone ties everything together on the keys and backup vocals, infusing a vibrant energy to the group.
The band is led, of course, by the legendary Mick Fleetwood, providing a backbone with his unmistakable power-house percussion and persona.
Mick Fleetwood Private Cellar wine is a centerpiece of each event for a select group of high-end VIP’s. Each show has between 700 and 1200 general admission tickets plus less than 300 tickets which offer a special pre-show wine tasting and meet-and-greet with Mick, himself. VIP attendees have the opportunity to taste samples of Mick’s award winning wines and leave with an autographed bottle. VIP’s also enjoy an up-close-and-personal encounter with Mick, who shares stories from his life as a musician on the road, tells of the creation of his wines, and discusses his passion for art, music, and the good life.
Mick Fleetwood’s Uncorked Tour kicks off June 11th in Los Angeles and moves nationwide throughout 2008. The first four dates are listed below with more to be announced soon.
6/11 – Los Angeles – The Avalon, Hollywood
6/12 – San Diego – Spreckels
6/14 – Aspen, Colorado – Snowmass Village

Stevie Nicks Video at the Arizona Heart Foundation
[From April, 2007] A video clip of Stevie along with her Mother Barbara, Brother Chris, Sister in Law Lori and Niece Jessica Nicks at the dedication of the research building at the Arizona Heart Foundation in April, 2007.

The Arizona Heart Foundation hosted the grand opening of the Translational Research Center with the help of singer/songwriter Stevie Nicks.
On Sunday afternoon a small invitation-only group of bighearted people joined Stevie Nicks at the Arizona Heart Foundation for the dedication of its new research building at Thomas Road and 20th Street. It's been a nine-year, grass-roots effort - literally - starting when a small group of visionaries gathered on the lawn of Ted Diethrich's Paradise Valley home to plant the first fundraising seeds for the building's $4 million campaign.
Sunday's private dedication for the Arizona Heart Foundation's Cardiovascular Research and Education Building was bittersweet.
"This was my dad's dream," Nicks said of her father, Jess, who died two years ago of heart disease. Jess' heart gave out a few days after Nicks' Dodge Theatre concert benefiting the foundation in August 2005.
Nicks' mother, Barbara, who was by her side at Sunday's party, also has heart disease, and the Arizona Heart Institute has been an important part of the Nickses' lives.
"This is the house that Jess and Stevie built," noted Gerry Kroloff, the foundation's executive administrator, also a Paradise Valley resident.
Paul and Ellen Gerding of Paradise Valley led Sunday's private dedication catered by Paradise Valley resident Vincent Guerithault.
"I know my father's here," Nicks said. "He'd be saying 'Stevie, this is so great.'"
"So, Jess, this one is for you," said Kroloff of the platform to push the envelope for the future of cardiovascular medicine.

Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks writes another solo chapter
Stevie Nicks began an abbreviated schedule of late spring and summer solo dates April 18 in Reading, Pa., hoping no doubt to continue the string of generally glowing reviews she received for her 2007 dates both with Chris Isaak and on her own.
In recent weeks, however, most of the chatter has been not about Nicks or her tour, but the band she sings with, Fleetwood Mac.
Late last month, the veteran rock group's plans to tour in the first half of 2009 became known when Sheryl Crow, who is close friends with Nicks, announced she might be joining the Mac lineup on the road.
Singer Lindsay Buckingham has confirmed that Mac is planning to tour, but says Crow's involvement is not yet a done deal. "I think we were all a little surprised she (Crow) was announcing that to the world with such certainty," Buckingham told Billboard magazine. "We have talked about the possibility of bringing another woman into the scene to kind of give Stevie a sort of foil and shake it up a little bit. She (Crow) was certainly a name that has come up. We'll have to see."
Nicks is still promoting her late 2007 CD/DVD release, "Crystal Visions ... The Very Best of Stevie Nicks," a collection of songs that samples material from her three-decade career as a solo artist and member of Fleetwood Mac.
The CD portion includes several previously unreleased live tracks and a couple of dance remixes, while the DVD has 13 videos with voiceover commentary by Nicks and an audio interview with the Grammy Award-winning singer by journalist David Wild.
Buckingham and Nicks joined Fleetwood Mac in 1974, and with their help the band topped the charts with "Fleetwood Mac" in 1975, followed by 1977's "Rumours," which sold more than 17 million copies and is one of the best-selling albums of all time.
Nicks, who will turn 60 on May 26, is known for her tempestuous singing and mystical Gypsy hippie-persona. She started her solo career in 1981 with the "Bella Donna" CD, which made it to No. 1 thanks such hits as the Tom Petty duet "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around," the Don Henley duet "Leather and Lace" and "Edge of Seventeen (Just Like the White Winged Dove)."
Her most recent solo album, 2001's "Trouble in Shangri-La," hit No. 5 on the Billboard chart.
According to an interview for the May issue of Q magazine, Nicks is working on a new solo album. "I've been writing continually," she said as she handed the interviewer a sheet of paper with a composition titled "The Soldier's Angel," inspired by her charity work. "It's one of the many poems that is ready to go to the piano right now.
