Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham Shuffle Setlist + Photos >> Videos and Observations

STEVIE NICKS LIVE IN WASHINGTON, DC
Verizon Center - July 27, 2012
Last night in Washington, Stevie performed the same set she performed in Nashville on the 24th... Moonlight and Annabel Lee are still out of the set and Stand Back moved ahead of Soldiers Angel.  She's sounding really loud and strong and seems to have gotten over whatever issues she was having with her throat.  No duets were performed with Rod again last night.  He didn't introduce her set either which was something he started last year, continued at the beginning of this jaunt, but seems to have stopped doing as well...  The mini photos below are by ML Layton via Getty.  Rod and Stevie continue on in Pittsburgh, PA tonight.

LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM LIVE IN FRANKLIN, TN
The Franklin Theater - July 27, 2012
Seems to be a little setlist change (or addition) for Mr. Buckingham as well.  Last night in Franklin, TN - two shows into this leg of the tour, he pulls out Rock Away Blind!  Well that didn't take long!!  Seems to be a fan favourite wherever he plays and a request he's willing to fulfill... No video/photos or reviews from the sold out show have surfaced yet...

Lindsey met up with Walter Egan after the show... Walter also met up with Stevie too when she played Nashville the other night - along with former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Billy Burnette.  It's kinda trippy seeing all these old friends back together again!

Next up for Lindsey is Atlanta, GA at Center Stage Theatre Tonight.

Lindsey Buckingham Reviewed | Stevie Nicks Silk Screened | Bella Donna Celebrates & Micks Picks

An Evening With Lindsey Buckingham

I have seen Fleetwood Mac from outside an arena, along with 500 other people who couldn't get a ticket for the Rumours tour; inside the same packed arena for the Tusk tour; Stevie Nicks solo in an arena setting; and, last night, Lindsey Buckingham in a smaller, more intimate but still packed venue. I enjoyed them all.

Short but stellar: Lindsey Buckingham's solo concert at Birmingham's Alys Stephens Center
by Mary Colurso

A stellar solo concert. An attentive, appreciative group of listeners filled the majority of seats in the concert hall and gave Buckingham several standing ovations. The choral balcony was blocked with curtains; the venue holds about 1,100 people in that configuration.

A man and his guitar: Lindsey Buckingham comes to Spartanburg

GoUpState.com
By Dan Armonaitis

Even if he weren't responsible for some of Fleetwood Mac's greatest artistic and commercial triumphs, Lindsey Buckingham would demand attention for his instrumental prowess.

He's simply too skilled a guitarist not to be recognized.

Upstate music fans will have the opportunity to get an up-close look at Buckingham's talent when the California native performs Sunday at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium.

As a news release for the intimate one-man show puts it, Buckingham “will showcase his distinctive guitar picking style and instantly recognizable voice in his usual awe-inspiring form.”

Buckingham is expected to perform songs from his recent album “Seeds We Sow,” along with favorites from his previous solo albums and a variety of Fleetwood Mac classics.

“As I've grown as an artist, I've gotten more and more in touch with my center, and that center is voice and guitar,” Buckingham said in the news release. “Over time it has become increasingly vital to express more with less; that is my touchstone now, and the embodiment of that philosophy is what will be largely represented in the new show.

“I've been thinking of doing this kind of tour for a while, and am quite excited to be doing something new, something outside my comfort zone.”

Last year, Rolling Stone magazine named Buckingham to its list of “The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” and stated that during Fleetwood Mac's hit-making era, he “transmuted the folk music of his banjo-playing youth into stadium rock.”

As a guitarist, Buckingham uses a finger-picking style that could be compared to that of such country and folk icons as Merle Travis and Doc Watson but which has been adapted to fit his pop and rock inclinations.

In an interview with Guitar World Acoustic Magazine several years ago, Buckingham said, “I've always believed that you play to highlight the song, not to highlight the player. The song is all that matters.”

Buckingham's latest solo album, “Seeds We Sow,” contains an eclectic array of original material along with an impressive acoustic cover of a lesser-known 1967 Rolling Stones gem “She Smiled Sweetly.”

The album tends to shine the spotlight on the percussive nature of Buckingham's playing while staying rooted in the kind of intelligent pop that marked such Fleetwood Mac hits as “Go Your Own Way” and “Tusk.”

Buckingham and his then-girlfriend, Stevie Nicks, joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975, helping propel the legendary group into superstardom. Through his association with Fleetwood Mac, Buckingham was inducted into the Roll and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.

In 1973, under the name Buckingham Nicks, the aforementioned couple released a critically acclaimed but commercially unsuccessful album that is long out of print and highly coveted by pop fans.

Lindsey plays the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium, Sunday, July 29, 2012. Tickets available at Ticketmaster

Rod Stewart And Stevie Nicks Turn Back The Clock In Nashville
By Evan Schlansky

Stevie Nicks and Rod Stewart did not duet during their double bill last night, as they’ve done frequently on their joint Heart and Soul tour. Nick’s voice was bothering her, she said, which was probably the reason why (unless they’re sick of each other by now).

Still, they made the perfect pair; Nicks’ classic rock radio-ready sound and hippie ethos combined perfectly with Stewart’s cavalcade of hits, for a night of sheer sing-along goodness and rock and roll bliss.

Setlist:
Rock and Roll
Enchanted
Secret Love
Dreams
Gold Dust Woman
Stand Back
Soldier’s Angel
Rhiannon
For What It’s Worth
Edge of Seventeen
ENCORE:
Landslide

"Moonlight" was out again last night, plus Stevie and Rod didn't perform their duets during Rods set.

Most of Landslide
This video is from the beginning...

The second Landslide Video captures the ending
Stevie at the end is pretty emotional.  She was emotional going into the song... Her throat is still giving her some issues and she's likely relieved she made it through the show + she received a really warm response from Nashville... Stevie mentions Bob Welch's passing at the end of her Thank You's.

Fleetwood Mac: magic you just can't cover

Most of the artists on a new Fleetwood Mac tribute compilation are a million miles away from capturing the band's pure emotion.
Mac and cheese … Our verdict on tribute album Just Tell Me That You Want Me.

The Guardian UK
by Priya Elan

"At the heart of Fleetwood Mac were three astounding songwriters and vocalists who were steeped in blues and folk traditions. Attempts to recreate this magic tend to get lost among the rhetoric of its retelling. Inevitably, the sonic and emotional distance between the cover and original is massive."

"These covers show that many mistake the Mac's bloody-heart-on-sleeve honesty for slick Californian pop.  May I suggest investing in a copy of Tusk instead?"

STEVIE NICKS & ROD STEWART
Riverbend Music Center
Cincinnati, Ohio
July 21, 2012

A bunch of things happened/changed at the Cincinnati show last Saturday, July 21st when Stevie appeared with Rod at Riverbend Music Center.

1. She wore shade.
2. She hauled out the frilly dress, which we haven't seen this tour.
3. She didn't perform the usual two songs with Rod during his set.
4. She added Enchanted back in the set and Moonlight was dropped.

Photographer Craig Weiglein was at the show... He took these snappy pics.  Check out his gallery on the Riverbend Music Center Facebook Page.

SONG PREMIERE: St. Vincent and Craig Wedren cover Fleetwood Mac's "SISTERS OF THE MOON" #stevienicks

Listen to St. Vincent and Craig Wedren cover Fleetwood Mac

"Craig Wedren (of Shudder to Think and Baby) and St. Vincent (aka Annie Clark) tackling "Sisters of the Moon," a Stevie Nicks-penned standout off 1979's Tusk, with co-production from Dave Sitek (TV on the Radio). The two artists' shared love of off-kilter distortion come together nicely to turn one of Fleetwood Mac's dreamier songs into something entirely new."
