(CHART UPDATE) TWO FLEETWOOD MAC ALBUMS ON THE CATALOG CHART

A couple of unit sales updates on two Fleetwood Mac albums currently on the Top 200 Catalog Album Chart in the US.

Top 200 Catalog Album Chart For the week ending October 3, 2010

Fleetwood Mac "Greatest Hits" is at #105 with 1,353 units sold - down about 6% from the previous week of 1,434 units sold. Total Soundscan sales on the 1988 release since 1991 when Soundscan began keeping track = 4,386,923.  The album is certified 8x platinum in the US.

Also on the Top 200 Catalog Album Chart for the first time in a long time is "The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac" sitting at #182 with 1,048 units sold - down approx. 7% from the previous week where the set sold 1,132 units. Total Soundscan sales for the 1x platinum "The Very Best Of" = 1,366,277.

Since July, 2005 "The Very Best Of" 2 disc set has sold 319,596 units in the US.  Because "The Very Best Of" is a 2 disc set, each cd within qualifies for certification by the RIAA in the US.  To achieve platinum certification the 2 disc set only needs to sell 500,000 units and to achieve double platinum status 1 million units need to be sold.  With sales at 1,366,277 this means that "The Very Best Of" is approaching the 3x platinum mark (1,366,277 x 2 = 2,732,544).

Indirectly, through recording industry licenser BMI, they’re suing Andy Lasky and his City View Bar & Grill in federal court – saying he played their songs for karaoke May 7 without paying royalties.

THE MAC IS BACK.... IF ONLY BRIEFLY

Fleetwood Mac Rehearse For Upcoming Show

All week long word started trickling out about this Fleetwood Mac show that was rumoured to be happening in October... Details have been pretty thin in the when and where department... But a few things are fact.

Beginning this past Thursday the members of Fleetwood Mac along with all their usual back up musicians & sound and lighting guys have been holed up inside Soundstage 15 on the Sony Lot in Los Angeles for 3 quick days of rehearsals preparing for their first show together in about 10 months. It was obvious from the start that this was a corporate gig they were booked for, as no tour is in the planning stages.  As it turns out the rehearsals are for a show they've booked for this coming Tuesday outside of the LA area... No word on the event they are booked to play, I'm sure that will come out later.

A few Tweets from some close to the events on Stage 15:

garykordan: "I am losing my mind. We are standing outside Stage 15 listening to Fleetwood fucking Mac rehearse for their upcoming tour!!!"

"I am standing 6 feet away from Stevie Nicks and 10 feet from Mick Fleetwood while they perform Rhiannon."

cswaudio "Last day on the sony stage with Fleetwood Mac. Such a wonderful time getting to know such great people and watchin' them rock out!"

kevinolearytv: "Fleetwood Mac is rehearsing beside us in stage 15, I just walked over to check them out. I'm a fan"

garykordan: "Right this second I am 1 of 80 people watching a private dress rehearsal by Fleetwood Mac on a massive soundstage. Unreal goosebumps."

Fleetwood Mac haven't been together as a band playing since they ended their Unleashed Tour in New Zealand in December, 2009 so this is a pretty big deal!.  There's been speculation that Fleetwood Mac would tour in 2011 but personally I can't see that happening given the fact that Stevie is working on her new album and plans to release that early next year and tour behind it.  If it does happen, I can't see it happening until late in the year...

Good Luck Fleetwood Mac, have a great show!  Nice to see you all playing nice together...

MICK FLEETWOOD INTERVIEW ON GOLF CHANNEL TO AIR - NOVEMBER

Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto gives a cooking lesson to Lauren Thompson, host of Golf Now: Kaanapali, on Wednesday morning at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa's Teppan-Yaki Dan restaurant. The popular chef from the Japanese competitive cooking show "Iron Chef," and spinoff "Iron Chef America," created a signature dish of dumpling soup for the restaurant's menu called "Par Four." The dumplings, made of shrimp and lobster or chicken and pork, were coated in browned rice before being cooked in hot oil and then placed into the soup. Thompson's destination show is scheduled to be televised the week of Nov. 29 on the Golf Channel. She also interviewed musician Mick Fleetwood and U.S. Winter Olympics gold medalist Julia Mancuso this week on Maui.
