A WEST Berkshire man has launched a campaign to get an iconic Formula 1 song to number one in the charts in time for the new season.
Formula 1 fan, George Caröe, of Marsh Benham, recently started a campaign on social networking websites Facebook and Twitter, aiming to get Fleetwood Mac’s song, The Chain, to number one in the charts in time for the new Formula 1 season, which starts in March.
The song, which is used by the BBC in its introductions to Formula 1 coverage, has never reached the number one spot in the UK charts, but the campaign is gathering pace, with backing from the BBC’s Formula 1 presenter, Jake Humphrey, and the number of people ‘liking’ the Facebook page at 2,045.
Mr Caröe, a 20-year-old marketing management student at Southampton Solent University, said: “The reason behind the campaign is simple; to get one of the best and most iconic songs ever, to the well and truly deserved number one spot.”
Mr Caröe added that he and his friends are also trying to get the backing of BBC Radio One to help get the song to number one on Sunday, March 6 - in time for the first race weekend in Bahrain.

Lindsey Buckingham was photographed all day today in LA by photographer: Jeremy Cowart. The guy looks like he does some amazing work! Check out his photos on his site: JeremyCowart
I'm guessing, but it must be for his new album. Here's what Jeremy had to say:
Not sure if this picture has anything to do with the shoot today, I think it does.. it's the one he refers to in his 4th Tweet from the top. Anyone recognize the location?
