Capitol Theatre (Passaic, NJ) Jun 7, 1975

Listen to more Fleetwood Mac at Wolfgang's Vault.

This is one of the very first live shows of the classic Fleetwood Mac lineup that included Mick Fleetwood, John and Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. Fleetwood Mac, formed after McVie and Fleetwood left John Mayall's Bluesbreakers in 1966, had made its mark in both Europe and the U.S. as a British blues rock band; it wasn't until its mid 1970s Bare Trees era version, with singer /songwriters Bob Welch and Danny Kirwin at the helm, that the band began to move in a more purely pop direction.

This recording captures the band at that exciting time, during their transition from British blues-rockers to Top 40 pop music superstars. Shortly after the recording of this show, the band's status in the U.S. and the rest of the world would explode with the release of hits like "Rhiannon," "Landslide" and "I'm So Afraid." Each of those songs, along with the band's rare version of the Welsh-written hit, "Hypnotized," are part of this short but historic performance. Not to be missed.

Update: Lindsey Buckingham Interviewer to be announced this week...

[Update]

Another tweet from ASCAPEXPO today brought the "interviewer" for Lindsey Buckingham at the ASCAP Expo in LA in April a little bit closer to being revealed... Still not a 100% known, but ellellew on Twitter, after taking a look at an indexing site that lists celebs/musicians etc. and ranks them by Twitter Followers, determined that based on the info provided it could be Sara Bareilles... Possibly the giveaway was the mention of her Sara's video "Uncharted" which has many cameos in it and Ryan Tedder who's in the video is also a speaker at ASCAPEXPO... Now we wait!

On April 29th Lindsey Buckingham will be presented with the prestigious ASCAP Golden Note Award during the 6th Annual ASCAP "I Create Music" EXPO...

Interesting!  Obviously someone really well known... Gotta be another musician!

STEVIE NICKS INTERVIEW on Paul Shaffer Rock Hall Spectacular Show

Back in February, Envision Radio Networks announced in a press release that Paul Shaffer's Rock Hall Spectacular would air and would feature interviews with Stevie Nicks and Alice Cooper.  With no air dates announced at the time of the release and after some digging around I was given the 105.9 The Rock radio site link, a station out of Nashville that is streaming the interview on their site.  The program initially aired last week on the night of this years Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions.  The full 2 hour show is available to stream at this site: 1059TheRock.

Stevie's interview is in Part Three. It was a call in interview to Paul.  He talks about the Heart and Soul tour with Stevie, what her and Rod might sing and talks about her new album "In Your Dreams" coming out on May 3rd... Stevie thinks the album is more of a 'classic' Stevie Nicks album!  Thinks we will be "knocked off our seats" when we hear "Italian Summer"... and she really thinks David Letterman will LOVE the album...

Plus... Paul asks her the age old question about Lindsey Lohan buying the rights to the Stevie Nicks story... Stevie in her ever honest way, again isn't very receptive to the idea and thinks Lohan should concentrate on her own life before tackling Stevie's.

FLEETWOOD MAC ON THE CHARTS: "RUMOURS" IS SPRINGING UP ALL OVER!

IRELAND: Top 100 Albums Chart - Week ending 17th March, 2011
  • On Ireland's Top 100 Albums Chart Fleetwood Mac's 1988 "Greatest Hits" compilation moves up to # 30 from # 59 last week notching up its 76th non-consecutive week on the Top 100.
UK: Top 100 Singles Chart - Week of 26th March, 2011
    • Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain" enters the Top 100 singles chart at # 81 spurred on completely by the Facebook campaign in the UK set up to get the Formula 1 official theme song to #1 for the opening week of the race.  Although the group of just under 6,000 members spent the week downloading from various digital retailers in the UK - they were just too small a group to make it happen.  But to their credit, there was press coverage in the UK hi-lighting their goal, radio stations in the UK mentioned their cause, Formula 1 drivers on Twitter were even jumping on the bandwagon!... I watched all week as the song bounced around the top itunes download charts which I found really quite impressive and it just proves the power of social media and what you can accomplish if you mobilize groups of people and focus on your goal... So I say well done!
NETHERLANDS: Top 50 Back Catalogue Chart - Week Ending 19th March, 2011
      • "Rumours" moves down the chart to # 35 from # 16 last week on the Top 50 back catalogue chart.
AUSTRALIA: Top 50 Catalogue Albums Chart - Week of 21st, March, 2011
        • Fleetwood Mac remains at the # 1 position on Australia's Top 50 Catalogue Chart with "The Very Best Of".  Total weeks on this chart - 52.
        • Fleetwood Mac's 12x Platinum "Rumours" moves up two positions to # 24 in it's 3rd week back on the Top 50 Catalogue Chart.  Total weeks spent on this chart non-consecutively is 18.
        • "Landslide" by Glee enters the Top 40 Digital Track Chart at # 38.
        • Glee: The Music Volume 5 enters the Top 50 Album Chart, The Top 50 Digital Album Chart and the Top 50 Physical Album Chart at # 1. (contains their version of "Landslide").
          Top 40 DVD Chart - Australia - Week of 14th, March, 2011
          • On the Top 40 Music DVD Chart, Fleetwood Mac's 8x Platinum "The Dance" drops down to # 35 from # 29 last week. Total non-consecutive weeks for "The Dance" on this chart 228.
FLEETWOOD MAC'S 1977 ALBUM "RUMOURS" is springing up all over the place on itunes no doubt as a result of the announcement this past week that GLEE will be tackling the album for a full episode next season.  Not to mention the fact that Glee took on Stevie's Landslide which appears on the white "Fleetwood Mac" album released prio to "Rumours".  I think it's great... It re-introduces Fleetwood Mac's mega selling "Rumours" to a whole new generation that may not be aware...
