UK: Top 100 Singles Chart - Week of 26th March, 2011
- Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain" enters the Top 100 singles chart at # 81 spurred on completely by the Facebook campaign in the UK set up to get the Formula 1 official theme song to #1 for the opening week of the race. Although the group of just under 6,000 members spent the week downloading from various digital retailers in the UK - they were just too small a group to make it happen. But to their credit, there was press coverage in the UK hi-lighting their goal, radio stations in the UK mentioned their cause, Formula 1 drivers on Twitter were even jumping on the bandwagon!... I watched all week as the song bounced around the top itunes download charts which I found really quite impressive and it just proves the power of social media and what you can accomplish if you mobilize groups of people and focus on your goal... So I say well done!

FLEETWOOD MAC'S 1977 ALBUM "RUMOURS" is springing up all over the place on itunes no doubt as a result of the announcement this past week that GLEE will be tackling the album for a full episode next season. Not to mention the fact that Glee took on Stevie's Landslide which appears on the white "Fleetwood Mac" album released prio to "Rumours". I think it's great... It re-introduces Fleetwood Mac's mega selling "Rumours" to a whole new generation that may not be aware...
