The awareness Oprah brings to an artists album is immeasurable. The only real way to measure the impact after an appearance on the show is to look directly at the album charts (if an album is released) or look at it's ranking on the best sellers list on Amazon for example where albums available for pre-sale and current releases are ranked.
Earlier today Stevie's In Your Dreams was ranked somewhere just north of # 50 on the top 100 in music sales. Currently it's sitting at # 16 on the top 100 which is a huge leap! When you break it all down into categories it looks like the following:
# 2 in Music > Classic Rock > Album-Oriented Rock (AOR)
# 10 in Music > Rock
# 15 in Music > Pop
itunes also experienced an uptick in downloads for both Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac in North America... These are fairly current numbers although itunes is a moving target so it's hard to say at what time of day these numbers are from. In any case, there's no denying the Oprah effect...
