American Thunder Music Festival (with Stevie Nicks) Will be broadcast...

The inaugural American Thunder Music Festival, a benefit concert for the Bob Woodruff Foundation, made history in front of fans this past weekend when Jeff Bridges hosted and performed along with Stevie Nicks and John Fogerty. Nicks performed in the midst of a howling thundering windstorm and tornado warnings... The show was the first major benefit concert in the 71-year history of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

American Thunder will be broadcast internationally to over one million active duty men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces in more than 175 countries and U.S. territories, and on U.S. Navy ships around the world.

A Conversation with Stevie Nicks: We caught up with Stevie via email this week to discuss her upcoming tour stop in Cincinnati

by Amy Harris

There are not too many musicians that could be said to have defined all music. Stevie Nicks has truly defined women in Rock-N-Roll. She is the gold standard and who all female leads will always be compared to. She was the defining voice behind Fleetwood Mac since the mid 1970s sporting dozens of hits. She has also been able to separate and create a wonderful solo career as well releasing her 7th album, In Your Dreams, in May with great success debuting in the top 10 of the Billboard charts. She is currently on the road to promote her latest record with her solo act and will come through Cincinnati on Saturday night at the PNC Pavilion at Riverbend. It will be a fun night of music showcase with her new sounds and a nostalgic flair.

We caught up with Stevie via email this week to discuss her upcoming tour stop in Cincinnati and her inspirations for the new record and what a typical day looks like for an iconic rock star.

Amy: What can fans expect from the show in Cincinnati this weekend?

Stevie: Old songs, new songs, bits and pieces of the new videos for both Secret Love and For What It’s Worth, which is my new single, with Dave Stewart and Mike Campbell. Stories about all the songs, new clothes and 2 hours of fun!

Stevie Nicks Dances Back...

Stevie Nicks had vowed to never again play outdoor venues like PNC Pavilion in the summer humidity. But then Nicks, famous for her onstage 360-degree twirls, pulled a 180.

"I called my manager two months ago and said, 'I've changed my mind.' I believe in this record so much," says Nicks, calling from tour rehearsals in Denver. "If it means I have to go stand out there in 95-degree weather, I'm going to do it, because this record means so much to me."

The Fleetwood Mac vocalist and solo star released the CD "In Your Dreams" in May. Produced by Dave Stewart, the album has received positive reviews. Nicks became determined to play more cities. And her fondness for a certain unnamed local hotel convinced her to come to Cincinnati in particular.

"First of all, I like the hotel. You know what? I'm on a mission to bring this record to the people," she says.

That mission included placing six songs from the new CD into the nearly two-hour performance. Nicks is aware of the danger of a classic-rock performer trying to force feed new material to a live audience.

"When we did 'Rumours,' which was the second Fleetwood Mac record (from the time Nicks joined the band), we thought, 'Well, great, we won't even play anything from the first Fleetwood Mac record or any of the other Fleetwood Mac records. We'll just do the 'Rumours' record.' And we just about nearly got booed off the stage. So we went straight into rehearsal the next day and revamped the set. And that was a lesson that I, all of us, have always remembered," she says.

Stevie Nicks "In Your Dreams" strikingly versatile, covering love and politics, dreams and poems, rock and pop

Stevie Nicks' first album in 10 years is easily her strongest solo effort since "Bella Donna" in 1981. "In Your Dreams" is strikingly versatile, covering love and politics, dreams and poems, rock and pop. Props to producer Dave Stewart of Eurythmics and to Nicks for inviting ex-beau Lindsey Buckingham to play on "Soldier's Angel" and for recording "Secret Love," which she wrote during Fleetwood Mac's "Rumour" period. Nicks is so proud of this new album that she's willing to play outdoors in her witchy wardrobe in the heat of the summer. Read an interview with the Fleetwood Mac siren in Monday's Variety section. (7:30 p.m. Wed., Mystic Lake Casino amphitheater, $33-$46.)

STEVIE NICKS Live in Atlanta... Included "For What It's Worth" Video

Stevie's show went off without a hitch last night in Atlanta at Chastain Amphitheatre... Atlanta was originally scheduled for Monday night but because of medical reasons it was postponed until Wednesday which sadly meant cancelling Indianapolis.  We later found out that it was Stevie's vocal chords that were sore... Not so much from the singing but from talking.  She had been doing a lot of press lately and being the chatty person that she is... she just over did it a bit.  So that coupled with being on tour, just wore her voice down... So she obviously was advised to take a few days rest, which she did...

She spoke early in the show about how she had been on vocal rest due to press she had been doing for the new album... According to reports you could hear it in her speaking voice a little, but her singing voice was spot on!  The setlist remained intact from Woodlands on August 13th.  Two songs in total have been dropped since the beginning of the tour.. Sorcerer and unfortunately the lead track from her new album "In Your Dreams".  But with the ever popular Landslide back in the set and Leather and Lace, which hasn't been around in years... It's all good.  A noticeable change in the wardrobe department, Stevie ended the night in the white top she had been wearing beginning with Edge of Seventeen, but on this night she left out the white dress.
"FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH" VIDEO
Another major change was the "For What It's Worth" video made an appearance during her performance of the song... Descriptions of the new video for Stevie's new single, which hasn't actually premiered yet, say it looks really beautiful and very fitting for the song... The video was shot in the desert a few weeks ago with an old bus used as a backdrop as if they were driving across the USA.  Reports say there are a lot of close-ups of Stevie in the video - on the bus, getting her makeup done, playing guitar, hanging out with Dave Stewart and Mike Campbell.  Plus there are images of her standing out in the desert in black flowy chiffon with the wind blowing.  Stevie's niece Jessica, appears in the video as a makeup artist doing her makeup.... CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT!!
