Review: Stevie Nicks "NICKS Still Grand Bella Donna" (Hobart Tasmania)

NICKS Still Grand Bella Donna
AGE has done little to diminish the popularity and raw musical power of rock and roll royal Stevie Nicks.

Thousands of Tasmanians flocked to the Derwent Entertainment Centre last night to see the 63-year-old former Fleetwood Mac member perform her In Your Dreams tour.

Support acts Dave Stewart of Eurythmics fame and Brian McFadden kept the packed house of almost 4,000 fans warmed up before Nicks took to the stage for a performance lasting nearly two hours.

Were you there? How did you rate the show?

Last night marked the end of Nicks's Australian tour, having played 10 shows in the past month.

To mark the end of the tour, Stewart was invited to share the stage with Nicks for a specialsend-off combiningboth bands.

Fleetwood Mac fans, old and new, were kept happy as Nicks rolled through a selection of the band's hits many of which she penned in the 1970s.

The retrospective was a nostalgic reminder to older fans and cemented her status as one of the all-time greats.

The show also featured songs from her latest, and seventh, solo album released 30 years after her acclaimed 1981 record Bella Donna.

Fleetwood Mac's 1977 album Rumours charged back in to the Australian charts at No. 2 this year after being featured on hit TV show Glee.

Fans were undeterred by tickets that ranged from $145 to $165.

Review: Stevie Nicks - Canberra, Australia "Nicks was very engaging on stage"

Stevie Nicks Live in Canberra
AIS Arena, Canberra December 7, 2011

Stevie Nicks proved that beyond a doubt, she’s still got it.

There are few events in Canberra that draw a crowd of several thousand, with representatives from across generations, occupations, suburbs and sub-cultures, but Stevie Nicks’ solo show at AIS Arena was definitely one of them.

The atmosphere at the AIS was humming with electricity. By the time the esteemed songstress herself took to the stage, the crowd were literally jumping with excitement, leaping to their feet to greet Nicks with a standing ovation.

Immediately launching into a rendition of classic hit Stand Back, Nicks proved that she still has the husky voice and sultry moves of her youth, delivering the crowd favourite with gusto.

What ensued was a mixture of old hits, Fleetwood Mac favourites and tracks of Nicks’ new album In Your Dreams, co-written with Dave Stewart who appeared on stage intermittently to play guitar during his songs.

Review: Lindsey Buckingham "Songs From The Small Machine"

Published by @Nickslive nickslive.blogspot.com for Fleetwood Mac News and Reviews:
Eagle Rock Unleashes Classic Rock Concerts on Blu-ray
Fans of Fleetwood Mac undoubtedly know Lindsey Buckingham. He, with Stevie Nicks, joined the band in time for them to become monster hit makers in the 1970’s. He’s a heckuva guitarist in his own right and has a good singing voice, too.

I was never a Mac fan (heck, I’m writing this on a PC!) so wasn’t too interested in this disc, but I’m glad I watched it. Buckingham does songs from his Mac and non-Mac career, peppering the concert with anecdotes shared with the audience.  The show kicks off with some acoustic performances, and then his band joins him for most of the rest of the disc. Songs include “Shut us Down,” “Go Insane,” “Trouble,” “Never Going Back Again,” “Big Love,” “Tusk,” “Stars are Crazy,” “End of Time,” “That’s the Way Love Goes,” “Go Your Own Way,” and “Seeds We Sow.”

Alas, once again the video here isn’t as good as Eagle Rock’s best, with a lack of detail on longer shots (though close ups are good). And as usual, you get the three choices of audio tracks and, as usual, the DTS-HD is the best, offering a beautiful mix.  There’s no center channel on tap, though; this is a four channel presentation.

Videos: "Rock N Roll" and "Edge of 17" Stevie Nicks Live in Sydney, AU 11/29/11

A couple of really great video captures of Stevie live in Sydney, Australia November 29, 2011. Stevie and the band sound and look awesome as usual!  Stevie looks like she's sporting either a new Rock N Roll Top Hat or its a new feather attachment thing...Either way, looks great... The hat seems a little more stable on her head then the hats from previous tours with the long white feather.  She dedicates this song to XFactor Australia's Reese Mastin.  This was the only performance of the song on the Australian tour... So Sydney, you got a bonus!
