Lindsey Buckingham's Guitarist Neale Heywood Apologizes Re: Cancelled UK Tour

"Hi Folks,
Neale Heywood here, I'm the lucky guy that gets to play guitar with Lindsey Buckingham.

It's now the middle of January 2012 and i'm finally coming out of the fog and shock of a painful and humbling stay in hospital over the Xmas period.

I want to take this opportunity to hopefully reach any of the disappointed LB fans that I know are out there and personally let them know, if I can, just how sorry I am to have been the reason for the man not coming over to England."

Check out his full post over in the
Lindsey Buckingham forum at The Ledge.

I'm happy Neale said something himself... Not that it makes things any better for those that were looking forward to the December shows, but it's really nice that he acknowledged the fans disappointment... I'm sure I'm not alone in wishing him a speedy recovery.

Fleetwood Mac Re-enter Billboard Top 200 Chart with 2 Albums this week

For the sales week ending January 8, 2012 significant enough sales in the U.S. were achieved by two Fleetwood Mac albums to re-enter Billboard Magazine's Top 200 albums chart date Janaury 21, 2012.

The Rumours episode on GLEE that originally aired back in May, 2011 was re-broadcast in the US this past week on January 3rd... Surely this must be the cause for the sales surge.  In 2011, the album sold at total of 144,000 copies (thanks in large part to "Glee") -- way more than the 48,000 it tallied in 2010 or 66,000 in 2009.

BILLBOARD TOP 200
# 158 (-) Fleetwood Mac "Rumours"
# 196 (-) Fleetwood Mac "Greatest Hits"

"Rumours" re-enters the Top 200 at # 158 with 3,565 units sold vs 1,946 units sold the previous week.  "Greatest Hits" shifted 3,089 units during the same period vs 2,297 the previous week and re-enters the chart at # 196.

BILLBOARD TOP 200 CATALOGUE
# 31 (200) Fleetwood Mac "Rumours"
# 46 (137) Fleetwood Mac "Greatest Hits"

Over on the Top 200 Catalogue Charts, "Rumours" which had re-entered the chart last week at # 200 moves up to # 31.  "Greatest Hits" which also re-entered the chart last week at # 137 moves up to # 46.

Total accumulated sales since 1991 for "Rumours" is 2,919,097.  Total for "Greatest Hits" is 4,517,152

- Now if we could only see both Lindsey's and Stevie's new albums back on the chart!!

Telling us lies, sweet little lies ?

Could there be some truth in them there tabloids!!
Or are we being sucked into this gossipy vortex?

Hmmmm... Not sure what to make of this... A couple of publications below have picked up on this new National Enquirer article published talking about Stevie putting together a tribute album for her late mother...

The mere thought of an updated version of Silver Springs blows my mind never mind a full album!  We shall see how much of this article rings true....

Stevie Nicks' New Album Will Be A Tribute To Late Mum

Singer Stevie Nicks is reportedly recording a new solo album as a tribute to her late mother.

Barbara Nicks died in Arizona at the age of 84, with her famous daughter by her side, on 28 December (11).

The Fleetwood Mac star later spoke out about the devastating loss, admitting, "She supported me and all of my dreams. She was the one that made it all possible."

And now the Landslide singer is set to remember her mum by composing a record in her honour, according to the National Enquirer.

A source says, "Stevie always finds something positive in the worst situations, and no one's surprised at her decision to write a tribute album to her mum.

"While sitting at Barbara's bedside, she recalled the tremendous influence her mother had on her life... Stevie has been writing constantly and wants to have the tribute album out by summer."

Review: Lindsey Buckingham "Seeds We Sow"

Lindsey Buckingham
Seeds We Sow
[Mind Kit Records/Eagle Rock (2011)]
by: TJ McGrath

Seeds We Sow is Lindsey Buckingham‘s sixth solo album since leaving Fleetwood Mac, and his first self-release effort. As a guitar player, Buckingham ranks as one of the best, and this album serves as a reminder of just how good he is. Many of the tracks demonstrate Buckingham’s glissando guitar attack, a 6-string fingerpicking method which seems to defy time and space and gravity.

The title track, a self-confessional that edges into a brittle, preachy protest song, has a blistering “sheltering sky” aura, with plenty of reverb and echo and swirling dynamics, and is faster than the speed of light almost. [Lindsay Buckingham defies laws of physics. News at 11. -ed] “Stars are Crazy”, another whirlwind of cascading notes, seduces with its angry, dangerous tone and threatens to run off a cliff with its barrage of pulsating rhythms and bouncy tempos.

Mick Fleetwood Interview: 8 Page Purple Magazine Spread

In the late ’60s Fleetwood Mac, the band led by the guitarist and singer Peter Green, was one of the most influential groups in Britain. Their music was dark, heavy, haunted, minimal, hypnotic, and sexy. In 1970 Peter Green quit the band due to a nervous breakdown, but he left behind a template for his bandmates. In the following five years, during which the band made six albums, drummer MICK FLEETWOOD, bassist John McVie, and keyboardist/vocalist Christine McVie maintained the Fleetwood Mac sound using various front men.

In 1975 they hooked up with Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks in Los Angeles and within weeks recorded one of the biggest-selling rock records of all time. Amazingly, the band achieved great success without having any management: Mick Fleetwood and John McVie steered the band through the ’70s, cocktails in hand. Fleetwood Mac never had a stylist-assisted image or a management company’s plan. Yet their music and visual style continues to inspire and influence young people.

I was lucky enough to talk to Mick Fleetwood about the elements that comprise the Fleetwood Mac style.
