Stevie Nicks to Headline at Jones Beach Friday
Marc Cohn will open for the rock and roll icon at Wantagh venue.
By Nicole Murphy
Nicks will hit the stage Friday at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh following famed folk rocker Marc Cohn. Between her time with the British-American rock band and her solo career, Nicks has sold more than 140 million albums and created more than 40 Top 50 hits. Nicks closed out last year's Nikon at Jones Beach Theater summer schedule.
Still producing hits today, Nicks' seventh studio album, "In Your Dreams," was released in May 2011 and sold more than 50,000 copies in its first week. Her first studio album since 2001's "Trouble in Shangri-La." "In Your Dreams" also commemorated the 30th anniversary of Nicks' debut record "Bella Donna."
Nicks' current tour is still celebrating "In Your Dreams." Fans can expect to hear a mix of hits from both Fleetwood Mac and Nicks' solo work.
Doors open at 7 p.m. Friday and Cohn is set to open at 8 p.m. The concert is scheduled for rain or shine.

She is a rock legend, the owner of an instantly identifiable voice, a woman who has survived professionally through the onslaught of female pop and rock performers and personally through very public drama and drug battles. Stevie Nicks to perform at Hershey's Star Pavilion
By CHRIS MAUTNER
Stand back, stand back — Stevie Nicks is coming to town.
The scarf-wielding singer-songwriter will perform a solo concert Tuesday night at The Star Pavilion in Hershey.
Nicks is best known for her work with Fleetwood Mac, which she and then-boyfriend Lindsey Buckingham joined in 1974. Their contributions helped propel the group into superstardom and their second album together, 1977’s “Rumors,” remains one of the best-selling albums of all time.
Nicks’ contributions to the group include such beloved and chart-topping songs as “Landslide,” “Dreams,” “Gold Dust Woman” and “Rhiannon.”
In addition to her work with Fleetwood Mac, she’s had a successful solo career, penning such well-known songs as “Edge of Seventeen,” “Talk to Me” and “Stand Back.”
Nicks is touring in support of her latest album — her first in 10 years — “In Your Dreams,” which was released in 2011. The album received largely positive reviews — Rolling Stone said, “It’s her finest collection of songs since the Eighties” — and debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart.
It’s a safe bet that concertgoers will hear a few of those new songs mixed in with classic material.
“I can no longer ask people to buy records, because nobody buys records anymore,” Nicks said in a recent interview with The (Newark, N.J.) Star-Ledger. “All I can do is say, ‘This is where I am right now, these are new songs. I want you to love them and feel them and listen to them. And whether you get the record or not, you’re going to hear them tonight.’¤”
The opening act will be Marc Cohn, a singer-songwriter best known for the 1991 song “Walkin’ in Memphis.”
