Interview: Stevie Nicks In Your Dreams Documentary Should Arrive by End of Year

Stevie Nicks to "Make Memories" as She Hits the Road This Summer

Stevie Nicks has a dream...and it involves encouraging fans to check out her album In Your Dreams.  The disc came out last year and made the top 10, but she feels so strongly about the project that she wants to continue to spread the word.  That's why, starting tonight, she's hitting the road this summer, not once, but twice.

Stevie will kick off her solo tour in Long Island, New York Friday night, and wrap up those shows on July 15.  Then, July 20, she's heading back out again, this time on a double bill with Rod Stewart.  The two first teamed up last year for their Heart & Soul Tour, and it was such a success that they're doing it again.

So how will those two tours be different?  Stevie explains, "Well, Rod gives me an hour and fifteen minutes and my own set is a little over two hours.  So, it's you know, it's great either way.  I mean, I get to do a longer set by myself, but I don't get Rod."

Stevie tells New York Newsday that in addition to her hits, her solo shows will include as many as half-a-dozen songs from In Your Dreams.  "No one puts six new songs in their set," she says. "I feel like it's really a gift that my audience has given me to allow me to do the new songs and not start complaining...I feel really thankful for that."

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer tells Newsday that each night on stage, she'll tells her audience, "This is not a Stevie Nicks' greatest hits tour.  This is a tour promoting a record called In Your Dreams.  I'm giving it a second chance because I believe in it that much, and I hope that you like [it].  And if you like [it]...do me a favor and tell a friend."

But aside from promoting the new album, Stevie says her other impetus for touring this summer is to give herself material for a future project.  "At my age, you start to really go, 'I'm going for the experience,'" she explains.  "As my mom always used to say, 'We're just making memories.'"

Stevie says that she writes her tour experiences "in my journal every night," adding, "These are memories that I'm making right now...that someday will go into a big art thing: book, poems, you know, the whole thing."  No word on when that project will materialize, but Stevie has completed a documentary about the making of In My Dreams which we should see by the end of the year.

Review: Lindsey Buckingham Wilmington, DE June 11th

Lindsey Buckingham Live in Wilmington, DE June 11, 2012

The night was billed as “An Intimate Evening with Lindsey Buckingham”, which in many cases, for many performers, could suggest a few things—subdued, maybe low energy, maybe entirely acoustic. From the moment he emerged, though, Buckingham beamed a concentrated intensity. He looked lean and healthy in jeans and a leather jacket, emitting a sort of cool, new age dad vibe. He stared straight up to the lights and out at the audience a few times, clasped his hands in a yoga pose to show thanks for the applause, and launched directly into straight-forward, athletically finger-picked readings of “Cast Away Dreams” and “Bleed to Love Her”.

After a few songs and as many guitar changes (there were no less than nine during the main set, nearly one for every song), Buckingham addressed the elephant in the room, namely his stadium-sized self and the small, informal downstairs space at the Queen.

Fleetwood Mac Drummer Mick Fleetwood & 'Hell's Kitchen' Chef Scott Leibfried to Open Lahaina Restaurant

Fleetwood’s drums up lots of interest. Legendary rocker to open Lahaina restaurant on Front Street
with ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ chef this summer

In a sentence, Fleetwood's on Front Street will "combine English gentleman with a Bohemian accent in the islands," when it opens this summer.

That's because its owner and namesake, legendary rock star Mick Fleetwood, prefers that look and feel.

"The most exciting part of this whole thing happening is that Mick Fleetwood lives here and he loves Maui. It will not be just another celebrity restaurant. He embraces Hawaii and its culture," says Eddy Bitton, one of Mick's partners in the business and president of the Bitton Design Group, based in Agoura Hills, Calif.

"Fleetwood's will be a restaurant first. A food establishment first. We have a moving target date for our opening and it's either late July or early August. Of course, it depends on the permit process and other things that may occur."

Bitton joins some rock legends as Mick's backers in the biz. But on a recent visit to the construction zone, I was asked not to reveal any names yet. Of course, rumors continue to swirl on island.

There's a good chance they'll show up to play with the longtime, famous Fleetwood Mac drummer after the restaurant opens. But you'll have to read about the music aspect in Scene soon, when our esteemed contributor, Jon Woodhouse, interviews Mick and asks him all about it.

Yet another big news item is that Scott Leibfried, 11-year sous chef on the "Hell's Kitchen" FOX reality TV cooking show, has been named corporate chef of the massive culinary enterprise.

Stevie Nicks: "plans are definitely underway to prep "Buckingham Nicks" for CD release"

Stevie Nicks feels positive that 1973's Buckingham Nicks, the sole joint album with then-lover Lindsey Buckingham will see a release next year.

The pair's pre-Fleetwood Mac album, which has never been released on CD, celebrates it's 40th anniversary next September. Over the years, Buckingham Nicks has gained a legion of die-hard fans, who have sought out pristine vinyl pressings of the Polydor release for major money. A 30th anniversary release was tentatively scheduled back in 2003, but never materialized.

It was the album's closing number, "Frozen Love" that gained Mick Fleetwood's attention while scouting Los Angeles' Sound City recording studio. The album's producer, Keith Olsen, played the track as a demonstration of the studio's capabilities and hooked Fleetwood who soon asked Buckingham -- and by extension -- Nicks to join Fleetwood Mac. Two of the Buckingham Nicks tracks would be included on future albums -- Nicks' "Crystal" found a home on Fleetwood Mac's 1975 self-titled collection and a live version of "Don't Let Me Down Again" was featured on 1980's Fleetwood Mac Live.

Stevie Nicks told us that plans are definitely underway to prep their first Buckingham Nicks release on CD: "This is, the coming up year is the 40 years. So, what we're thinking is we might do something to celebrate the 40 years thing and we're going to try and put the record out. The only reason why it hasn't come out is because it kinda belongs to three different people and it's like owning a car, a third of a car. And everybody has to be on the same page and nobody has ever been on the same page. So we're hoping this year people will get on the same page and we can put it out since this is it's 40th."

We asked her if there's any chance for a few Buckingham Nicks shows to promote the new set: "Very possibly! Very possibly! 'Cause we. . . that's easy. Yeah."
