As the grand ring master of Fleetwood Mac, the venerable drummer has finally secured the agreement of all band members to launch a new tour in 2013, after Stevie Nicks has concluded promoting her current solo album, "In Your Dreams."

The Mac last hit the road in 2009.

"Everyone's on board," Mick announces. "We're all on the same page. Stevie's been like Lindsey who went off and did his thing and was at one point ready to do some touring, but couldn't figure it out. And it went on and on.

"After 40-odd years of whatever our thing is, you have to learn to get over being disappointed when you think something is happening and then it's not. But none of this could have worked out. So we're planning to start touring in March. There's a commitment to one leg and if it's a happy leg then we will continue. It would be foolish not to.

"It's really about demand. You never quite know if you leave the scene. Bands get the shock of their lives when they haven't toured for years and they have half full places they're hurting. The good thing about us is we have a very strong audience and we don't over put ourselves out there. So when we do go out people are enthused and we usually do very well."

Although they will embark on a major trek without promoting a new album, some of the members have recently collaborated on new Mac music.

"Lindsey, myself and John (McVie) are hoping Stevie will enjoy at least doing an EP," he says. "Lindsey and I have put some great music together. I went to LA for six weeks and we cut eight tracks as a calling card that we really want to do something. I think some of that should see the light of day. It's really good and fresh and young. And if everyone's happy, maybe that will be the beginnings of an album.

After four decades, STEVIE NICKS proves she's still got it

"Nicks' mystical image, which brought her superstardom in the '70s as the female focal point of Fleetwood Mac, seems to have a life of its own."

In many ways, Stevie Nicks has embodied the famed ethos of James Brown's "Hot Pants" song: "A woman got to use just what she got to get just what she wants."

But unlike the bold soul sister in that funk classic, who declared her worth in skimpy clothes, Nicks draped herself in Victorian lace and wore flowing dresses with sleeves that spread like wings. Trailed by yards of gauzy fabric and her mouth in a perpetual pout, Nicks became one of rock's sexiest women.

Her torrid affairs with fellow pop stars, which inspired some of her greatest hits, and an epic drug habit are just as much a part of her legend as her famously scratchy voice and poetic music. Nicks' liberated persona has inspired a generation of female rockers.

But she's not much of a chameleon, like other celebrated women in pop: Joni Mitchell and Madonna immediately come to mind. Nicks has maintained her iconic status without removing a layer of her witchy costumes or tinkering much with her beguiling pop-rock hybrid.

The singer-songwriter headlines Farm Bureau Live in Virginia Beach at 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets

HAPPY BIRTHDAY To Former FLEETWOOD MAC Member Christine McVie - July 12th

Christine McVie is an English songwriter, vocalist, pianist, and synthesizer player who has worked both within bands and as a solo artist, McVie is one of the most highly regarded female musicians in the genres of pop/rock and blues/rock. She is considered a pioneer, and was one of the first female musicians to enter the British blues scene of the 1960s, as well as one of the first to release a solo album.

1969 Melody Maker Award
Christine Perfect began her music career in 1968, performing with the bands Chicken Shack and Sounds of Blue.  She was voted best female vocalist in the 1969 Melody Maker poll. Two years after marrying John McVie in 1968, Christine joined Fleetwood Mac in 1970 and went on to play a crucial part in the band’s evolution for the next 25 years. Christine wrote and performed on multiple best selling platinum albums, including Rumours, one of the best-selling albums of all time. Her classic work includes the songs You make loving fun, Say you love me, Don't stop, Over my head, Hold me, Everywhere and Little Lies.

Her soulful alto, keen melodies, sensitive lyrics, and grounding presence were a focal point for nearly 30 years in Fleetwood Mac, which began as a blues band in the early 70's only to shoot to super-stardom in the mid-70's. Fleetwood Mac went on to become a benchmark to rock and roll with the band's music very much embedded in popular culture today partly due to Christine's contribution.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction
Christine left Fleetwood Mac after the highly successful 1997 Reunion album "The Dance", subsequent tour and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.

Honorary Doctorate Degree
Since retiring from music, leaving the band and moving back to the UK,  she's rarely been spotted in public except for a few times in early 2000's. On July 20, 2000 she received an honorary doctorate degree in music by the University of Greenwich in honor of her major contribution to international popular music. In her acceptance speech she stated "I find the prospect of standing here before you today more daunting than singing in front of 65,000 people at Madison Square Gardens in New York".

Accepting Legends Award

On September 26, 2003 Christine accepted an award on behalf of Fleetwood Mac at the first-ever Capital Gold Legends Awards held on Friday, September 26th, at the Hilton London Metropole. Fleetwood Mac won for Rumours in the "Legendary Album" category.

In 2003 Christine attended one of Fleetwood Mac's "Say You Will" concerts at Earls Court in London.

Being virtually non-existent in the music industry since 1998, it was a nice surprise for fans world wide when it was announced Christine was working on a solo album. The CD "In The Meantime" recorded in Christine's home studio, London and California was released in June, 2004. The CD was produced by Christine, her nephew Dan Perfect and Ken Caillat (Rumours and Tusk).

The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band toured the UK in 2008 and Christine attended the filming for the DVD which was recorded at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury, Kent, England. The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band DVD was eventually released in January, 2010.

In 2009 Christine also attended one of Fleetwood Mac's "Unleashed" tour shows at Wembley Arena in London.

The last known public photo of Christine is from 2010 where she was photographed walking her dog in the village in England where she lives.  The photo ran in the local press where a story broke about how she joined a consortium to purchase land next to her property to protect it from development.

Christine McVie turns 69 today and from Fleetwood Mac News and Reviews, we wish you a very Happy Birthday, with many happy returns.... You are still missed.

So far we've heard 9 of the 17 tracks on the album. It's pretty diverse. Personally, I like a lot of the covers with my favourite right now still being "Think About Me" from the New Pornographers. Listen to all nine tracks here: Concord Music Group

Reviews x 3: STEVIE NICKS Live in Niagara Falls + Boston

Stevie Nicks at the Pavilion

Every rock list is front-loaded with dudes. The Beatles are always named the best band. Bob Dylan is the best songwriter. Jimi Hendrix is the best guitarist. All this male dominance, makes Stevie Nicks’ glory even greater.

And after her stunning show last night at the Bank of American Pavilion, it’s time to give Nicks her due and bump her up a few notches on these lists.

Nicks proved again that she’s rock’s Golden Goddess: Top five when it comes to tambourine work, tied for first with Steven Tyler in the scarves, sashes, frills and feathers category, and No. 1 in on stage twirling.

Every girl who grew up in the 80’s wanted to emulate Stevie Nicks; I was no exception. Her flaxen hair, whimsical wardrobe, and her mystical persona spoke to the wild hearts of teenage girls everywhere. The enchanting songstress was greeted by many of those now 40 and 50 something fans when she performed before a sold-out audience inside the Seneca Niagara Casino this past Saturday night.

Stevie Nicks - Seneca Niagara Casino, Niagara Falls, NY - July 7, 2012

Niagara Falls, NY -  Stevie Nicks looks like she either made a deal with the devil, or has been drinking from the fountain of youth since the 80's, as when she appeared at the Seneca Niagara Events Center this past Saturday night, she looked and sounded like she really hasn't aged at all.  With her references of being a vampire, to claiming to have lived a past life in the 18th century, perhaps my assumptions about Nicks aren't all that off.
