STEVIE NICKS on Oprah's Master Class... Would be brilliant!

STEVIE ON OPRAH'S MASTER CLASS?
Sheri Salata, Executive Producer at Oprah Winfrey's Network OWN, tweeted earlier today that she's
"hoping to shoot the brilliant and legendary Ms. Nicks on Master Class soon."

Does this mean it's something they've been working on, that it's booked, or is it just a 'hope' of Ms. Salata's?

In any case... I love the idea of Stevie appearing on the show... I've caught a few of the episodes of the show myself and have to say that these shows are extremely interesting, thought-provoking presentations of each guest featured.  Each episode of Oprah's Master Class focuses on one person's journey or story thus far, what they've learned in life and about themselves and what others can learn from their experiences.  Each person is hand-picked by Oprah for their unique impact on the world.

Stevie certainly has had a unique impact on the world over the last 35 or so years and I think she's the perfect candidate to be featured.  Don't you?  Sound off in the comments.

Stay tuned!!  Follow Sheri Salata on Twitter @SheriSalata

3 Shows Wrap-Up: STEVIE NICKS Live - Boston | Mohegan | Virginia Beach

REVIEW: BOSTON - JULY 10TH
Nicks seamlessly weaves old and new
by Sarah Rodman
Boston Globe

The twirls may be a little slower these days, but the spirit remains strong.

Tuesday night at the Bank of America Pavilion, Stevie Nicks enchanted with a two-hour set that was part “Storytellers,” part patriotic tribute, part crystal visions, and all heart.

The show was heavy on tracks from her latest album, 2011’s splendid “In Your Dreams,” which may have been unfamiliar to some in the packed house, but Nicks was a savvy sorceress of sequencing.

The Fleetwood Mac chanteuse wisely prefaced new tunes with stories about their origins to provide a way in and alternated fresh tracks with big hits, engendering good will.

That meant that Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” — still retaining its warm, woozy charm — flowed nicely into “Moonlight (A Vampire’s Dream)” — which Nicks explained began life in the early ’70s and was resurrected when she was inspired by the second “Twilight” film — which then segued easily into a churning, spectral, wailing “Gold Dust Woman.”

Stevie Nicks battles rock legacy at Mohegan
By Donnie Moorhouse
Masslive.com

UNCASVILLE _ Marking the second summer in a row that she has been touring to promote her latest release “In Your Dreams,” Stevie Nicks performed for more than two hours at the sold out Mohegan Sun Arena on Thursday night.

Despite a rock legacy that stretches back to the 70s, it was new music that Nicks wanted to focus on during her 16 song set.

“This isn’t a Stevie Nicks greatest hits tour and there probably never will be another Stevie Nicks greatest hits tour,” she told the audience. “I have to do new music. I can’t keep doing the old stuff or it will make me crazy. I won’t let go of this new album until I have to.”

Even with the courteous attention given to the new material, Nicks played six tracks from the record, it was the hits of yesteryear mixed in between that had the audience rushing the stage.

With veteran guitarist Waddy Wachtel leading the band, Nicks hit the stage with a cover, blasting out Led Zeppelin’s “Rock’ N’ Roll,” setting the tone for the evening. She followed up with “Enchanted,” from her seminal solo release “The Wild Heart.”

Then began a sequence of new and then old as if the different eras of her career were in competition. It was “Secret Love” (new) followed by “Dreams” the song Nick’s said served as Fleetwood Mac’s only Number One hit on the Top 40 charts.

VIRGINIA BEACH - JULY 14TH

Stevie Nicks' second to last solo show this month at Farm Bureau Live  in Virginia Beach Saturday Night was cut short by what looks like an 11pm curfew... It was a hot muggy night in Virginia Beach... Stevie looked great (check out the photos), but the set had to be tighted up to meet an 11pm curfew.  Gone were Ghosts Are Gone + The encore Love Is.  The show ended at 10:45pm with Landslide which was moved to the encore slot.  Also missing on this night were the band intros.

A visit with Stevie Nicks becomes fond memory

BY LAUREN CARTER

In the midst of his struggles after suffering a severe leg injury in Iraq, Heath Hobson experienced some upbeat moments, as well - and chief among them was the chance to connect with rock goddess Stevie Nicks.

Nicks, a solo star and member of the legendary band Fleetwood Mac, has been quietly making trips to Walter Reed Army Medical Center to visit wounded soldiers for several years, traveling under the radar, without an entourage or a team of photographers in her wake.

In 2007, while Hobson was recovering at Walter Reed with his wife Jodi at his side, Nicks surprised them both with a lengthy visit, a brand new iPod with more than 1,000 songs pre-loaded and a copy of her poem "Soldier's Angel," which would later become a song on her 2011 album, "In Your Dreams."

"The first time I met her was so personal," Hobson said. "It was awesome. She was just like a regular person in the hospital. It was great. We didn't even know she was there until about 10 minutes before, so there wasn't enough time to get worked up about it."

And they would meet again.

In 2011, the couple attended Nicks' joint concert with Rod Stewart at the TD Garden, and linked up with Nicks in her dressing room backstage, where she played the album version of "Soldier's Angel" for them before it was released and personally sang to the pair.

"It was crazy," Hobson said. "(Stevie) was super touched by it. It's for real, it's a legit feeling she has for seeing the wounded soldiers. That part of it was like, 'Wow, I'm so fortunate to have that moment.'"

Hobson said he plans to contact Nicks again in time, joking that he doesn't want to "overdo it." He said that meeting the down-to-earth star has been one of the most memorable parts of his journey.

"She's so humble about it," he said. "No one knows about that side of her unless they meet her."

Stevie Nicks: Our Mystical Style Spirit Guide
By Maud Deitch

All of a sudden, mid day yesterday (July 12th), a corner of the Internet exploded. News broke that legendary British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac are planning a reunion in 2013, something diehard fans of the Mac had assumed was impossible due to the famed infighting between the band's members. Lead singer/tambourine playing sorceress Stevie Nicks announced the reformation on CBS This Morning, and of course, both super-fans and casual admirers alike went nuts. Nicks, who wrote the band's 1977 Billboard #1 hit "Dreams," is as much a style icon as a musical muse, with everyone from Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino, America's sweetheart Taylor Swift, and Florence + The Machine singer Florence Welch counting themselves as acolytes. Even if you don't know you're familiar with Stevie Nicks, you probably are. You know the opening of Destiny's Child's "Bootylicious," well, it's sampled from Nicks's "Edge of Seventeen," off of her 1981 solo record, Bella Donna. T.Swift calls Nicks a "childhood idol," and Bethany Cosentino has Making Rumors: The Inside Story of the Classic Fleetwood Mac Album on her coffee table. There is also a Fleetwood Mac tribute record being released on August 14th, titled Just Tell Me That You Want Me, which includes takes on the band's tunes by Best Coast, Lykke Li, The Kills and MGMT.

Fleetwood Mac Planning Tour To Begin March, 2013 + Lindsey & Mick cut 8 NEW Tracks!

Mick picks up beat for Fleetwood’s opening
In an intimate interview last week on the rooftop of his soon-to-open restaurant and nightclub, Mick Fleetwood shares how the idea for it goes back to his youth.

As the grand ring master of Fleetwood Mac, the venerable drummer has finally secured the agreement of all band members to launch a new tour in 2013, after Stevie Nicks has concluded promoting her current solo album, "In Your Dreams."

The Mac last hit the road in 2009.

"Everyone's on board," Mick announces. "We're all on the same page. Stevie's been like Lindsey who went off and did his thing and was at one point ready to do some touring, but couldn't figure it out. And it went on and on.

"After 40-odd years of whatever our thing is, you have to learn to get over being disappointed when you think something is happening and then it's not. But none of this could have worked out. So we're planning to start touring in March. There's a commitment to one leg and if it's a happy leg then we will continue. It would be foolish not to.

"It's really about demand. You never quite know if you leave the scene. Bands get the shock of their lives when they haven't toured for years and they have half full places they're hurting. The good thing about us is we have a very strong audience and we don't over put ourselves out there. So when we do go out people are enthused and we usually do very well."

Although they will embark on a major trek without promoting a new album, some of the members have recently collaborated on new Mac music.

"Lindsey, myself and John (McVie) are hoping Stevie will enjoy at least doing an EP," he says. "Lindsey and I have put some great music together. I went to LA for six weeks and we cut eight tracks as a calling card that we really want to do something. I think some of that should see the light of day. It's really good and fresh and young. And if everyone's happy, maybe that will be the beginnings of an album.

After four decades, STEVIE NICKS proves she's still got it

"Nicks' mystical image, which brought her superstardom in the '70s as the female focal point of Fleetwood Mac, seems to have a life of its own."

by Rashod Ollison
Hamptonroads.com
In many ways, Stevie Nicks has embodied the famed ethos of James Brown's "Hot Pants" song: "A woman got to use just what she got to get just what she wants."

But unlike the bold soul sister in that funk classic, who declared her worth in skimpy clothes, Nicks draped herself in Victorian lace and wore flowing dresses with sleeves that spread like wings. Trailed by yards of gauzy fabric and her mouth in a perpetual pout, Nicks became one of rock's sexiest women.

Her torrid affairs with fellow pop stars, which inspired some of her greatest hits, and an epic drug habit are just as much a part of her legend as her famously scratchy voice and poetic music. Nicks' liberated persona has inspired a generation of female rockers.

But she's not much of a chameleon, like other celebrated women in pop: Joni Mitchell and Madonna immediately come to mind. Nicks has maintained her iconic status without removing a layer of her witchy costumes or tinkering much with her beguiling pop-rock hybrid.

The singer-songwriter headlines Farm Bureau Live in Virginia Beach at 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets

HAPPY BIRTHDAY To Former FLEETWOOD MAC Member Christine McVie - July 12th

Christine McVie is an English songwriter, vocalist, pianist, and synthesizer player who has worked both within bands and as a solo artist, McVie is one of the most highly regarded female musicians in the genres of pop/rock and blues/rock. She is considered a pioneer, and was one of the first female musicians to enter the British blues scene of the 1960s, as well as one of the first to release a solo album.

1969 Melody Maker Award
Christine Perfect began her music career in 1968, performing with the bands Chicken Shack and Sounds of Blue.  She was voted best female vocalist in the 1969 Melody Maker poll. Two years after marrying John McVie in 1968, Christine joined Fleetwood Mac in 1970 and went on to play a crucial part in the band’s evolution for the next 25 years. Christine wrote and performed on multiple best selling platinum albums, including Rumours, one of the best-selling albums of all time. Her classic work includes the songs You make loving fun, Say you love me, Don't stop, Over my head, Hold me, Everywhere and Little Lies.

Her soulful alto, keen melodies, sensitive lyrics, and grounding presence were a focal point for nearly 30 years in Fleetwood Mac, which began as a blues band in the early 70's only to shoot to super-stardom in the mid-70's. Fleetwood Mac went on to become a benchmark to rock and roll with the band's music very much embedded in popular culture today partly due to Christine's contribution.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction
Christine left Fleetwood Mac after the highly successful 1997 Reunion album "The Dance", subsequent tour and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.

Honorary Doctorate Degree
Since retiring from music, leaving the band and moving back to the UK,  she's rarely been spotted in public except for a few times in early 2000's. On July 20, 2000 she received an honorary doctorate degree in music by the University of Greenwich in honor of her major contribution to international popular music. In her acceptance speech she stated "I find the prospect of standing here before you today more daunting than singing in front of 65,000 people at Madison Square Gardens in New York".

Accepting Legends Award

On September 26, 2003 Christine accepted an award on behalf of Fleetwood Mac at the first-ever Capital Gold Legends Awards held on Friday, September 26th, at the Hilton London Metropole. Fleetwood Mac won for Rumours in the "Legendary Album" category.
Christine McVie & Brett Tuggle
In 2003 Christine attended one of Fleetwood Mac's "Say You Will" concerts at Earls Court in London.

Being virtually non-existent in the music industry since 1998, it was a nice surprise for fans world wide when it was announced Christine was working on a solo album. The CD "In The Meantime" recorded in Christine's home studio, London and California was released in June, 2004. The CD was produced by Christine, her nephew Dan Perfect and Ken Caillat (Rumours and Tusk).

The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band toured the UK in 2008 and Christine attended the filming for the DVD which was recorded at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury, Kent, England. The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band DVD was eventually released in January, 2010.

Christine, 2010
In 2009 Christine also attended one of Fleetwood Mac's "Unleashed" tour shows at Wembley Arena in London.

The last known public photo of Christine is from 2010 where she was photographed walking her dog in the village in England where she lives.  The photo ran in the local press where a story broke about how she joined a consortium to purchase land next to her property to protect it from development.

Christine McVie turns 69 today and from Fleetwood Mac News and Reviews, we wish you a very Happy Birthday, with many happy returns.... You are still missed.
