Stevie Nicks Discusses "In Your Dreams" w/ Billboard "It's a magical little film," + Exclusive Clip #4

"It's a magical little film," Nicks tells Billboard about the making of her 2011 solo album.

Stevie Nicks says that making her latest solo album, 2011's "In Your Dreams," was "the best year of my life." And she's even happier to have it chronicled on film.

Directed by David A. Stewart, the former Eurythmics member who co-produced and co-wrote the album, the "In Your Dreams" documentary will be shown for one night only on April 2 in North American theaters; locations and ticket information can be found at www.inyourdreamsmovie.com. This follows showings at several film festivals during 2011 and 2012, most recently at the South By Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas, where Nicks also performed with Dave Grohl's Sound City Players.

"It's a magical little film," Nicks tells Billboard. "It really allows you to sit right there with us through the entire year of the making of 'In Your Dreams,' and it's funny. It's really funny. It's really compassionate and it's at my house for a whole year. Dave's team during 2011 took it down from a whole year to three hours and myself, my assistant and Dave's editor took it down from there to an hour and 40 (minutes). It shows how hard it was to make (the album) and also how much fun it was and how magical it was. I hope that when people see it they really want to hear the record, even if they didn't know I had a record out." "In Your Dreams" debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 in May of 2011 and has sold 188,000 copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

What are Stevie Nicks' earliest music memories? The legendary Grammy winner and Fleetwood Mac songstress taps into her roots and songwriting inspiration in her intimate new documentary In Your Dreams.
"My one music memory that I actually have was when my parents moved from Phoenix to Los Angeles when I was about three; my dad bought a bar and my mom cooked for it," Stevie tells Dave Stewart, whom she collaborated with on her new album. "My granddad and I would sit and he would put me up on the table and he'd sing and I would kind of tap dance, even though I didn't really know I was tap dancing, and I would kind of sing."

Featuring many great candid moments and as treasure trove of photos from Stevie's youth, In Your Dreams chronicles the musical journey in making the critically acclaimed album In Your Dreams with the former Eurythmics star, which Stevie called "the greatest year of my life" and a joyful experience like "the day the circus came to town." The normally semi-reclusive Stevie allowed cameras inside her magical old mansion high atop the hills of L.A. for the doc with a wild cast of musicians and friends, including Mick Fleetwood and Reese Witherspoon.

You can see In Your Dreams for one night only in theaters -- April 2 -- and Stevie is also embarking on a new tour, click here for details.

In Your Dreams Movie Sneak Peak with Stevie Nicks

Stevie Nicks Remakes 'Secret Love'
Exclusive Video From 'In Your Dreams' Documentary

It's easy to forget that even the most legendary musicians grapple with self-doubt. Stevie Nicks reminds us of that in a new documentary, "In Your Dreams," which chronicles the making of her album of the same name.

In the exclusive clip below, Nicks discusses the recording of "Secret Love," a song she wrote for Fleetwood Mac's Rumours but never properly recorded for over 30 years. Oddly enough, a demo from those sessions found its way to YouTube, leaving Nicks with some mixed emotions.

"I said, 'I don't know how to feel about that," because I would have been happier if nobody ever heard 'Secret Love,' so I'm trying to look at it from the other way and go 'Well, everybody that's had it for 30 years is really happy that it's going to actually come out as a real song.'"

In the video, you can hear the original version and then watch as Nicks records the track with producer Dave Stewart, who also directed the documentary. For more information on "In Your Dreams," visit the film's official website. The documentary will screen around the U.S. for one night only on April 2, while Fleetwood Mac kicks off a world tour on April 4.

Let's All Go See That Stevie Nicks Documentary Next Week
Blackbookmag.com

In 2011, Stevie Nicks released In Your Dreams, her first solo album in a decade and three since her iconic Bella Donna. Dave Stewart, he of Eurythmics, produced. Some critics called it her best solo album; reviews were generally mixed but mostly favorable. But the most important thing is that it was Stevie Nicks, writing new music, and writing collaboratively for the first time. Before she'd worked with Stewart, she'd always written her songs solo. The shift in creative process and creation of Nicks' most recent record are the subjects of a documentary that Nicks and Stewart also co-directed, also titled In Your Dreams.

The film, in addition to getting an intimate look at these two very talented people and their creative process, also features "rare never before seen personal scrapbook stills from Nicks’ childhood and family life, and a wealth of candid backstage and performance shots taken over the last 35 years." So, if you love Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac enough to where this would be a draw (and of course you do), here's a movie for you!

Anyway, said documentary got a lot of buzz at the Toronto International Film Festival and SxSW, and now it is coming to theatres next week! April 2nd in most U.S. cities to be exact. Who wants to go see it? You? Let's go. It'll be great.

26 Years Ago Today: March 28th Fleetwood Mac's "BIG LOVE" debuted on Billboards Hot 100 Singles Chart

"Big Love", the first single to be released from Fleetwood Mac's "Tango In The Night" debuted at #52 on Billboards Top 100 singles Chart on this day in 1987.  The song spent a total of 16 weeks in the top 100 in the U.S. peaking at # 5 on May 30, 1987.  It reached #9 in the UK.

The song took on a new life in 1997 where it was first performed live with Fleetwood Mac, becoming a solo piece showing off Lindsey's incredible guitar ability and has remained that way in future shows.
