Fleetwood Mac tickets sell out in minutes - Auckland, New Zealand (2 shows)

A number of Fleetwood Mac fans are upset after missing out on tickets to the band's two Auckland shows December 6th and December 7th.  Tickets went on sale at 9am (June 13th) and were sold out within minutes.

Fans have their fingers crossed for a third show.

Anger as fans miss out on Fleetwood tickets

Tickets to legendary rock band Fleetwood Mac sold out in 15 minutes after they went on sale this morning.

When sales opened at 9am there was a "phenomenal demand" for tickets to the two shows on 6 and 7 December at Auckland's Vector Arena.

Including the three rounds of special presales, all of the estimated 24,000 tickets were sold out by 9:15am.

There were no surprises the tickets sold so fast.

"Judging by the demand within the three pre sales, we were thrilled," said Bridget De Launey, publicist for the concert.

But not everyone was as happy. The huge demand created issues for the Ticketmaster website, leaving Fleetwood fans without tickets.

"(We are) very disappointed that Ticketmaster's website is not robust enough to cope with the demand and we imagine there will be a lot of very disappointed fans out there," said ticketless fan Maria Lewis.

"The reservation of expensive tickets for premier customers means the real fans miss out," she said.

"Ticket purchasing should be fair for everyone despite the purchasing power of the fan. Why should we be penalised because we want the cheaper tickets?" Lewis said.

MICK FLEETWOOD VIP - MEET AND GREET TICKETS
This isn't really a solution but might be for some of you that didn't get tickets to either Auckland shows.

After the pre-sale started and after the general public sale began and eventually sold out for both shows. Mick Fleetwood put up his VIP Ticket Packages on his site to both shows at mickfleetwoodofficial.com

There are two pricing structures either $425 or $375 - both purchases include a meet and greet with Mick, PLUS you get a seat guaranteed either in the first 5 rows for the $425 or within the first 20 rows for the $375.  Trust me it's a cool experience, I did it myself.  When you consider a fairly decent ticket to the show is going to cost you $200 bucks anyway, the $425 or $375 isn't really that much more when you consider you get to meet Mick, go up on stage, get your photo taken with him and get that guaranteed seat in the front, which is highly sought after.  So if you have the extra funds and want a really neat experience, I highly recommend it.

REVIEW: Fleetwood Mac Live in Tampa "The chemistry between ex-lovers Nicks and Buckingham is still alive and well"

The hits don't stop with Fleetwood Mac at Tampa Bay Times Forum

Whether you love them or hate them, you have to hand it to Fleetwood Mac; the band and its members have successfully and tactfully been able to overcome what are normally deal-breaking obstacles like romantic breakups, divorces, personality clashes and more personnel changes than just about any other pop band in the business. Fleetwood Mac began as a humble blues act in the 1960s; it wasn't until the mid-1970s, when lead guitarist Lindsay Buckingham and his then-girlfriend, chanteuse and poetess Stevie Nicks, climbed aboard, that the band's popularity skyrocketed through the stratosphere. [Text by Gabe, photos by Tracy.]

Still maintaining that proven successful lineup (minus keyboardist and golden-voiced co-lead singer Christine McVie, who's enjoying self-imposed retirement), Mac is currently out on the road and in the midst of a thriving international tour that's garnering much well-deserved accolades. The band has toured sparingly since their reunion of sorts in 1997, but they can rest assured that whenever they decide to get together and hit the road, halls and arenas around the world will always be filled to capacity by their still-loyal fan base. And as an anxious crowd of 14,071 found out at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in downtown Tampa on Friday night, the wait for another Fleetwood Mac tour was well worth it.

The First Time With... Mick Fleetwood - BBC Radio 6 Sunday June 16th (12-1pm)

Following on from previous First Time drummer guests – Ringo Starr, Charlie Watts and Queen’s Roger Taylor - this week on the show Matt Everitt chats to the man who lent his name to one of the most successful and best loved bands of all time, Fleetwood Mac’s Mick Fleetwood.

Coinciding with the 35th anniversary of the band’s record-breaking album Rumours (more than 40 million copies sold so far) and some rare UK live shows, Mick looks back at his and the group’s career and influences. He started his career during the blues boom in London in the Sixties, going on to huge acclaim with the original Peter Green-led line-up of the Mac, then presiding over an ever-changing line-up that would coalesce in 1975 into the group that would eventually create several landmark albums including Rumours, Tusk and Tango In The Night

Mick talks honestly about his experiences helping steer his band through the murky waters of drug abuse and inter-band relationships (and divorces) to the present day and their current reunion, and picks some excellent tunes along the way.

FLEETWOOD MAC: Live Review and Photos by Danielle Boise - ATLANTA

Fleetwood Mac Live 2013 World Tour – Atlanta
Live Review and Photos by Danielle Boise
Target Audience Magazine

July, 2013 Target Magazine
It had been 3 years since their last tour and 35 years after the release of Rumours. Fleetwood Mac glided onto the stage and took over Philips Arena at their Atlanta stop of the Fleetwood Mac LIVE 2013 World Tour on Monday June 10th for a nearly sold out performance and did not disappoint for one second; as these living legends gave an earth shattering performance that straddled the line between electrifying, beguiling and perfection. There is no other band of yesteryear, today or tomorrow that is like that of Fleetwood Mac.

Fleetwood Mac kicked off their nearly 2.5 hour set, containing 23 songs and 2 encores with “Second Hand News” followed by the ever glorious “The Chain” and then the hauntingly sublime “Dreams” before demoing their new song “Sad Angel,” which was released on their new Extended Play EP, on April 30. “Rhiannon,” “Not That Funny” and Mick Fleetwood’s emotionally shattering “Tusk” amped up the raw factor. Before going into “Sisters of the Moon,” which Stevie Nicks stated, “that song hasn’t been played on stage since 1981,” it was a treat to see material that hasn’t graced the stage in several touring cycles.

It was never so prevalent to see that the past had been forgiven and ego removed, leaving only the love of the music and their shared history that they honored by performing together so cohesively, than when Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks shared an intimate moment on stage after performing “Sara” with an endearing embrace that left the crowd in cheers with some tears.

After “Sara,” it was Buckingham’s moment to shine with “Big Love,” as he took the stage as his own and stated “This next song is particularly significant to me. It is about transition. It once was an ensemble piece and looking back at the lyrics of the song to where I was in 1987… I was “looking out for love,” I was not looking for love. This song was about the contemplation of alienation and now, it’s about the power and importance of change.”

After which, Nicks moment to radiate for me was with “Landslide.” For me nothing compares to “Landslide” and in that moment the lyrics, along with the impact of witnessing Nicks perform it live brought tears to my eyes and took my breath away.
Fleetwood Mac continued the set list with “Never Going Back Again,” “Without You,” “Gypsy,” “Eyes of the World,” the ravishing “Gold Dust Woman,” “I’m So Afraid,” “Stand Back,” and ended the regular set with “Go Your Own Way” before coming back for the first of two encores. With Mick Fleetwood’s hands down amazing drum solo during “World Turning” before going into the crowd induced dance and sing-along of “Don’t Stop.”

“Much fun was had by all.” – Mick Fleetwood

For the second encore, Nicks beckoned the stage and brought a standing ovation that rippled through the entire arena with “Silver Springs” and ended the last song of the night in the most befitting way possible with “Say Goodbye.”

“Atlanta, you guys are the best!” – Lindsey Buckingham

It’s so hard to encapsulate this show into one set of words. It truly was about the bigger picture in the sense of the experience. What I think was beyond stunning, was every member had their moment to shine and be honored for their individual and collective talents that they bring to the group as a whole. There was no ego, no hurt, just the shared love of music that binds them together and that’s what they in turn shared with us, the audience in such a powerfully authentic way and heartwarming way and truly magical to watch.

There really is nothing like seeing Fleetwood Mac perform live, nothing. The band members are so engrossed in the music that they get absolutely lost in the sonic goodness that they are creating, yet still maintain a connection with their fans. This is what performing means, to bring the audience to their feet, time and time again without fancy theatrics, just showmanship.

Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks are four pieces that come together to create a gorgeous soundscape. They truly are pieces of a puzzle that fit perfectly together, as if they’ve always just been one and forever they will be.
Fleetwood Mac is currently out on the North American leg of their Tour through July 6 before starting the European leg of Fleetwood Mac Live 2013 World Tour. For more information, visit www.fleetwoodmac.com.
