Stevie Nicks: The Original Rebel 'My whole life is a rebellious moment,' she laughs.

IN CONVERSATION WITH THE ORIGINAL REBEL

by Chrissy Iley
Elle-UK is on newsstands now.

Fashion is having a rebel moment. But long before maverick icons Grace Jones in black rubber, Courtney Love in ripped tights and lace, and Chrissie Hynde who cut her own hair and never removed her leather jacket, there was Stevie Nicks.  ‘My whole life is a rebellious moment,’ she laughs – a long, throaty, mocking-the-world-laugh.

The 'US' Generation Documentary

Well this should excite the masses!  Fleetwood Mac are part of an upcoming documentary on The 1982 US Festival.  Check out the official trailer below... Fleetwood Mac come in at about the 2 minute mark where they are shown on stage, in crisp clear footage, singing a bit of Go Your Own Way... They are also on stage introducing Apple co-founder and US Festival visionary, Steve Wozniak.

This looks so cool, I can't wait to see it!  The documentary will in some format be released to coincide with the 30th Anniversary of the Festival this Labour Day September 3, 2012.  Originally scheduled for a Labour Day release the documentary has been pushed back a bit as they are awaiting final interview approvals from key artists that performed.

Review of Fleetwood Mac – Then Play On (Warner Music Canada)

They might be arguably best known for Rumours but the fact of the matter is, before they found chart fame, Fleetwood Mac were a killer blues band. The guitar work on the instrumental track Fighting For Madge features guitarists Peter Green and Danny Kirwan trading off jaw dropping blues licks while the revered Oh Well – Pt. 1 can easily rival Led Zeppelin for heaviness and groove. Boasting four bonus tracks and the original U.K. release running order, this is a fascinating look back on one of music’s biggest acts.

Stevie Nicks ‘In Your Dreams’ UK Premiere Sep 16th Curzon Mayfair London w/ Q&A - DVD in November

Stevie Nicks movie to Premier ahead of tour
Get To The Front
Entertainment Focus

Stevie Nicks will be joined by Fleetwood Mac members Christine McVie and Mick Fleetwood for the premiere of her new documentary In Your Dreams.

Taking place at the Curzon Mayfair, London on Monday 16th September, Nicks will also be joined by Dave Stewart who collaborated with her on the documentary.

Stevie will attend a photocall at 6.15pm for the red carpet event, followed by interviews, before joining fans and guests for the premiere at 7.30pm. The film will be introduced by journalist Craig MacLean who will host a Q&A session with Stevie before the film begins.

Ticket information not yet available.

Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac teamed up with Dave Stewart of Eurythmics fame to create her 2011 album “In your dreams”. Now just ahead of Fleetwood Mac’s UK tour there will be a UK premier of the behind the scenes footage of that process with the film of the same name.

Co-produced and co-directed by Dave Stewart, “In Your Dreams shows the up close and personal musical journey that the two artists embarked on in Nicks’ Los Angeles home as they wrote and recorded an album during what Nicks called “the greatest year of my life”. Nicks felt compelled to share the joyful experience with her fans on what she termed “the day the circus came to town”. The record was co-written by Nicks and Stewart and produced by Stewart and Glen Ballard.

A multi Grammy Award winning artist and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Nicks allowed cameras inside her magical old mansion high atop the hills of LA with a wild cast of musicians and friends. The inner life of the legendary Nicks has by her design long been kept at a distance from the public. We learn in “Dreams” that her world features costume parties, elaborate dinner feasts, tap dancing, fantasy creations and revealing song writing and recording sessions all of which are captured on film. There are cameos by Edgar Allan Poe, Mick Fleetwood, Reese Witherspoon, a massive white stallion in the backyard, owls and naturally a few vampires who appear in several “home movie” style music videos.

In addition to the story of the Nicks / Stewart creative partnership, “In Your Dreams” has plenty of other cinematic payoffs including rare never before seen personal scrapbook stills from Nicks’ childhood and family life and a wealth of candid backstage and performance shots taken over the last 35 years. The documentary was produced by Dave Stewart’s production company, Weapons of Mass Entertainment.

“This is our baby and we give her lovingly into your dreams. From our tribe to yours,” said Nicks.

“She is really real. It doesn’t matter if she is singing in the make-up room or in the middle of a TV interview. She is who she is, and she doesn’t change.” commented Stewart.

‘In Your Dreams’ will be released on DVD and VOD in November. Take a look at the trailer.

Interview coming soon: Christine McVie speaks about upcoming Fleetwood Mac UK Tour with Johnnie Walker Radio 2

"If they ask me... I'd play"
Johnnie Walker's Sounds of the 70s
BBC Radio 2

Johnnie interviewed Christine last Tuesday, August 27th... On Johnnie's Sunday show he talked about meeting Christine for the first time and said that his interview would be coming soon on Radio 2.

After they played "You Make Loving Fun" he mentioned that during his interview he put the question to Christine asking: "Is there any likely hood that you might join Fleetwood Mac on the UK shows that begin on the 24th of September?" and she said "If they ask me... I'd play".

Listen for yourself at the 28:45 mark here

This NEEDS to happen... I suspect London will happen for sure, but it would be so cool if it happened at ALL the UK/Ireland shows!

Not sure when this will air, but Johnnie's show airs on Sunday's... so likely the 8th or 15th.
