The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band Featuring Rick Vito Announce New Zealand Tour Dates

Celebrating The Blues Years Of Fleetwood Mac

Bluesfest Touring is pleased to announce that the Grammy nominated MICK FLEETWOOD BLUES BAND, featuring RICK VITO will be performing two New Zealand shows in Auckland at the ASB theatre on 31st March and Wellington’s Opera House on 1st April, following their Bluesfest debut in 2016.

The band is led by the legendary Mick Fleetwood, the iconic co-founder and drummer of Fleetwood Mac, providing a backbone with his unmistakable power-house percussion and persona.

At the front of the group is Rick Vito, veteran Bluesman and former Fleetwood Mac vocalist and lead guitarist. Rick adds his personal touch while staying true to the styling of early Fleetwood Mac front man Peter Green, who along with Lenny Castellanos on bass and Mark Johnstone on keyboard, will be delivering a world class blend of Blues and Rock.

The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band featuring Rick Vito really is a celebration of Mick’s Blues heritage. As well as their own material, the band pays tribute to the original Fleetwood Mac, the all-male Blues band that started it all in 1967.

A typical set can include original Fleetwood Mac songs plus great Blues standards such as; ‘Oh Well’ (Fleetwood Mac), ‘Rattlesnake Shake’ (Peter Green - Fleetwood Mac), ‘Eyesight to the Blind’ (Sonny Boy Williamson), ‘Love That Burns’ (Fleetwood Mac), ‘Songbird’ (Fleetwood Mac), ‘Black Magic Woman’ (Peter Green - which was later covered by Santana),‘When the Levee Breaks’ (Memphis Minnie & Kansas Joe McCoy), ‘World Turning’ (Fleetwood Mac), ‘Stop Messin' Around’(Fleetwood Mac ), ‘Shake Your Moneymaker’ (Elmore James ), with encores including classic Fleetwood Mac tracks like ‘Go Your Own Way’ (Fleetwood Mac ) ‘Tusk’ (Fleetwood Mac) and ‘Don't Stop’ (Fleetwood Mac).

In 2008, THE MICK FLEETWOOD BLUES BAND featuring Rick Vito released Blue Again, recorded live at the Sheldon Concert Hall in St. Louis, Missouri. The album features equal parts Blues rave-up and loving homage to the early incarnation of Fleetwood Mac, and the powerhouse Blues project features versions of early Peter Green-penned hits such as 'Black Magic Woman', 'Albatross' and 'Rattlesnake Shake' as well as original material composed by Rick Vito. The album made it to No. 4 on the Billboard Top Blues Albums Charts.

We can’t wait to take that trip down memory lane when THE MICK FLEETWOOD BLUES BAND hits the stage – any true blues aficionado will not want to miss this show!

"Take it easy, Mr. Frey - as you fly - take it easy" - Stevie Nicks

Glenn Frey's passing on Monday, January 18th was a complete shock! I still find it hard to believe. At 67 he had so much life left to live. It's a tremendous loss to his family, friends and the millions of Eagles fans around the world.

Stevie posted on her website yesterday a short note. She's clearly devastated by the news.

Dave Stewart Memoir 'Sweet Dreams Are Made of This' details meeting Stevie Nicks in 1983

Eurythmics star Dave Stewart dishes on Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty and hit song 'Sweet Dreams' in new book

Eurythmics founder Dave Stewart tells Confidenti@l that his upcoming memoir “Sweet Dreams Are Made of This: A Life in Music” is full of revelations, one of which recalls a debauched trip to L.A. in 1983 when the Eurythmics topped the charts and he wound up on top of Stevie Nicks.

“We were number one in America and I met Stevie backstage when we played the Wiltern Theater and it was packed full of loads of singers and Los Angeles glitterati and I got whisked with Stevie back to her house to a party that she invited me to,” Stewart tells Confidenti@l. “But when I got there, there was no party, just an empty house. So I thought, ‘Well this is interesting.’ We wound up staying together.”

Things got even more interesting for Stewart a few days later when he wound up in a recording studio with Nicks and her ex-boyfriend, producer Jimmy Iovine.

“There was a great point at the piano where she and Jimmy were arguing at the piano and he said, ‘Don’t argue in front of my friend, you don’t even know him,’ and she said ‘What are you talking about? We slept together the other night.’”

Those sessions resulted in Stewart writing “Don’t Come Around Here No More,” which wound up being recorded by Tom Petty in 1985.

Stewart says that for better or worse, his four kids, aged 13 to 28, will probably learn a few things about their pop-star papa when his book hits shelves next month.

“I’ve pre-warned them,” he laughs, unsure of whether or not they’ll read his book. “I think at one point in their lives they probably will ... well, what can I say? What can I do, you know?”

Stewart also says his 1983 smash hit “Sweet Dreams,” which inspired his book title, has also become something he can’t control.

“There are hit records that do well in one country, but don’t do anything in other countries,” he said. “When you have a record that it’s a hit in every country, it becomes like (the song) ‘Happy Birthday.’ Wherever you go, it’s playing somewhere to this day. Someone in Korea is singing it in a karaoke bar while it’s on the sound system when you’re buying your groceries. And you get in the car and it’s on and some cover band is playing it somewhere. It’s a great thing.”

Charles Kelley and Stevie Nicks cover Tom Petty's "Southern Accents" on "Driver" Avail. Feb 5th

Charles Kelley Enlists Miranda Lambert, Stevie Nicks for Solo LP

Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley has set February 5th as the release date for his solo debut The Driver and has enlisted rock goddess Stevie Nicks and country superstar Miranda Lambert to ride along with him.

“Southern Accents” (feat. Stevie Nicks) (Tom Petty) – Petty’s original arrangement from his 1985 album of the same name doesn’t get shaken up much during Kelley’s cover. It’s still piano-driven, with a little percussion to add rhythm before things begin to swell. Nicks gets her own verse, in addition to singing alongside Kelley.

Full details on the album available at Rollingstone or Taste of Country
